i'd argue against the "no one takes 40~minutes to listen to an album" statement: sure you might not sit down and focus all of your attention on it. but a full album is good for working or driving somewhere. Offspring is especially good with that because most of their songs go well with driving.
Albums. ALWAYS. Full length fucking albums forever. Fuck Supertramp. The Offspring Rules!!! Master Dexter and First Officer Noodles Fucking ROCK!!! That. Is. All.
I prefer an entire album, and yes I listening when I'm driving my car a entire album, Conspiracy of one, Days go by, smash, splinter, Americana, Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace, HAHAHAHAHAHA i listening a lot of offspring albums, yeah its part from when I was a teenager, hahaha good times man, good times.
Still no new album. Don`t really like most of the newer stuff, but Days Go By had a couple of really awesome songs (slim pickens, dividing by zero, hurting as one, future is now)
It's called "Coming For You" not "Coming After You" The title is plastered everywhere you go and search for so stop fudging it up or The Offspring are "Coming For You"
+Peter Mccartney Plenty of other ways. FLAC is excellent. Vinyl, honestly, isn't very good as far as noise floor goes... a good analog tape recording is excellent. There's a reason why the music industry decided to move away from vinyl a long time ago. If you're an analog buff a good open reel tape deck is really nice, you can record WAV or FLAC files and the tape will add it's own very small amount of distortion, which some people find pleasing. Good luck finding consumer 1/4" tape though... If I'm gonna pay for music, I like if it comes in a lossless format though, original CDs can be very good but as I said, FLAC is also excellent. Plenty more than just vinyl or CD though. The two are worlds apart, vinyl is an archaic, noisy medium that's prone to wear and tear but has sentimental 'hipster' value.
just for the record.. I also listen to full albums.. and to say to a punk band they were not succssful during their first 10 years is soo stupid that only a German interviewer can do it xD
I don't get the obsession with vinyl. A good vinyl LP is very good--when it's brand new. You play it a surprisingly small number of times, and it's wearing out and becoming noisy. I'd prefer a really good quality lossless digital release.
ALIVE845 Days go by is amazing !! I know sometimes you people hate change, but still I think they did an amazing job!! I'm not saying you have to like it, let alone accept it, but maybe this change of style is lifting some of the limitations. Maybe playing only hardcore punk for years has made them bored, and they want to change it up and add a new meaning to their music! I also really enjoy the albums Smash and Splinter, and I think that they are amazing, but being locked into a certain style of music can be a bad thing. Trust me, I've written some songs myself. Dexter, Noodles, Greg, and Pete are doing the best that they can to please their fans, yet still write the songs they want to write with the message they want to put out there! So next time you want to criticise a band, or an album keep this in mind. I understand that this is your opinion, but put yourself into someone else's shoes. It's harder than you think to write great songs. I know from experience the hardships of being a musician, so next time think twice before posting a comment like this, ok?
