I just bought this with all the bells and whistles .. it is a 2016 with only 11,000 miles it still has the new smell in it.. I love it .. fits in my budget and had in it everything I wanted in a car and with a sunroof . It drives like a dream!!!

The Cavalier was not lousy at all. I have had several and they were all reliable. Mine are of the 1995-2005 generation. All of mine had the old 2.2 overhead valve engine...some with three speed auto and some with the four speed auto. I got over 215k on the 2000 with original engine and three speed auto.

I had the exact same Cruze as a rental (2017) even in the same colour, for about a month when my last car was totalled in an accident, and I really liked it, it was peppy, comfortable, features were nice, I'm a pretty aggressive driver but I average 38.9 mpg and that's with city and highway driving. On just highway driving I averaged over 40 mpg. If I was in the market for a compact sedan I'd choose between this and an Elantra.

same. both cars have rear arm rests in certain trims, and also have good reviews for Low road noise and being noticeably quiet. also good mpgs for their class. Very good for uber or just hauling people

Before I bought my 2014 Cruze, I was looking for a Cadillac CTS Or a BMW m3 but the body of the Cruze had everything I wanted. Not just that the prize was way low, I modified my car to the way I wanted it and couldn’t be happier. BUT taking a look at what Chevy has done to the new Cruze I find it very disappointing.

Ima Toyota/Lex guy but the cruise has come along way, the quality is a bit better than the cobalt which desperately needed to be replaced lol I know someone with the cruise that loves it, hopefully the diesel is as good quality although this thing is hideous and so is the Malibu

Yes, but the original video talked about the advanced safety features like automatic braking. Unfortunately, the Cruze didn't have that feature, so it was edited out, creating this "new" video.

i just had a 2017 Cruze for rental, good car overall, but the build quality is appalling. the car has less than 5000 km, and headliner around where the sunroof is has already started to "peel". few trim pieces have big gaps between them, and the piece of plastic that is holding the windshield (driver side) to the car has already came off.
@DoSum4Me
@DoSum4Me 6 лет назад
nickolas I had one for a rental recently too, for about a month.. overall it was OK. The interior build quality was horrible. The panel gaps were ridiculous, there was also some wear on the headliner by the sunroof, mine had the auto stop/start feature and it was awful... really jerky and never turned back on immediately.

I never considered the Cobalt "lousy"
@LYNDONGOLDEN
@LYNDONGOLDEN 8 лет назад
A new 2006 Cobalt was nice...if you were trading-in something like a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am or Ford Contour - and only had experience with that type of junk - as a reference point.
@willc5512
@willc5512 6 лет назад
I traded in a contour se V6 manual & hated how slow the cobalt was in comparison. Even with a stick the cobalt sucked & was skid happy. Most dangerous car I ever owned. It did NOT have stability control either like the contour did.
@mattdotomain3949
@mattdotomain3949 2 года назад
The cobalt is lousy all the way around. When the ball joint go. You have to purchase all new lower a arms since GM and all their glory did such a shitty job designing the cobalt. Had a 04 and hated everything about it. Slow slow slow money pit.

The rear looks like a typical rental Chevy. Bland and anonymous. The dash center stack looks horrifically cheap on trims with the smaller screen with that giant, cheap spray painted silver plastic surround. Otherwise it looks like a nice car.

Had one of these as a rental. Never driven a worse car. That little 1.4 litre engine has no acceleration with lots of turbo lag.
@DoSum4Me
@DoSum4Me 6 лет назад
Malcolm Baxter really? Hmm. I had a rental Cruze for about a month and it was the exact opposite for me, I thought acceleration was very adequate and I never really noticed any turbo lag. Only thing that would keep me from buying one is the horrible interior build quality.

Dear car customers around the world: I bought a brand new Chevy Cruze, manual transmission, on December 10, 2016. One day after (December 11, 2016), while the car was parked at the curb, it rolled down the road hitting another car on its way down. I am sure that I had engaged the parking brake, indicated by the “!” symbol displayed in red on the instrument panel. I’ve been raising to General Motors Corporation (GMC) this question - why is it that the said Cruze, in neutral transmission, rolled down the slope even though the parking brake symbol, “!” (in red color), is displayed on the car’s instrument panel? The GMC explained that: “by design intent, the parking brake warning lamp on the instrument panel (!) will illuminate with the brake lever is raised to the first detent position (first audible click). However, this warning is not an indicator that the parking brake has been fully engaged. Specifically, the Chevrolet Cruze Owner’s Manual Instructs the owner to pull firmly (on the lever) without pressing the release button, in order to engaged the parking brake correctly. The primary purpose of illuminating the park brake warning lamp, even when the parking brake is not fully engaged, is to prevent the operator from driving the vehicle with parking brakes partially engaged.” (letter sent to me by GMC dated April 11, 2017). I disagree with the above explanation by GMC. I maintain that a technical deficiency persists between the engagement of parking brakes with respect to the warning light (!). The Cruze Owner’s Manual does not state anything related to partially-engaged and fully-engaged parking brakes with same warning light (!) displayed on the instrument panel. I am submitting GMC’s explanation, as quoted above, for your views and comments. Thank you and drive safely.

Unfortunately for Chevy, Honda made a new standard for the class, the new civic.
@3656761
@3656761 8 лет назад
The Cruz for 2016 got excellent reliability from CR and the 2016 Civic did not. CR has odd ways of measuring reliability now...weighing audio stuff equally with engine and transmission to bring down otherwise good reliability.
@pedrofernandez3893
@pedrofernandez3893 8 лет назад
Yeah, but most people don't bother with that. they only hear about how good the new Civic drives over the previous one. I would not buy one, I think the Cruze is a much nicer looking car.

Who would buy this when the bullet-proof Honda Civic is at the same price point?
@Buc_Stops_Here
@Buc_Stops_Here 8 лет назад
Because if you pay attention to CU or TrueDelta.com, the new Honda Civic has a new 8 speed automatic transmission which is not reliable right now.. Give them a couple of years, they will get it right like the previous generation. Right now, if you buy one there is a risk in the first year or two of transmission failure. My local Honda dealership has a two week backlog of Honda Civics to fix and a wait list because they cannot deliver enough replacement transmissions fast enough. This happened last in 2001-2003 on the Acura TL/Honda Accord when they went to a five speed.

It still shocks me that people still buy the Cruze, Aveo or even a Malibu...blows my mind. Having them as a rental is already a bummer, i can't imagine owning one.

tahj677 I actually own a 2016 Chevy Cruze and I really like it. power delivery is smooth , boost from the turbo comes early. fuel mileage is amazing! averaged 40 plus on Illinois highways at 80 mph. it's pretty fun to drive and is comfortable at the same time, I occasionally drive to Chicago and back and I never feel like I need to take a break on driving.

I bought an aveo for $1075 & drove it for a year. It cost 0.07 (yes 7) cents a mile to run with gas & insurance :-) Had the 5 speed stick in it.

Don't ever buy GM. Various mechanical pieces are likely to break when you hit around 40000 miles. And that is the point beyond the bumper to bumper warranty. Terrible resale value. Research on the interenet. Also if you are in the market for a new car, don't watch reviews like these on youtube. They just review what can be seen with the eyes like the quality of the plastic in the interior. Most of the things in a car that matter in a car like mechanical reliability and trustworthiness of a brand cannot be seen with eyes and are not touched on by these poor youtube reviewers. Go to sites like consumeraffairs or car complaints to assess the long term reliability of a car. Watch youtube reviews only to pass the time. Don't make a decision based on these. You're going to regret it.

U could buy a beloved civic or corolla & have it hit by a drunk driver. Then it dont matter. Parts failing at 40,000 miles is no big deal. Thats over 2-3 yrs for the avg driver having their car in for service.
