2016 Ford Edge Sport Review And Road Test - 2.7L EcoBoost Twin Turbo 

Just got back from a 900 mile trip to the mountains in my 2018 Edge Sport 2.7 EB...even some beaten track driving in the rain, for a soccer mom ride it is a Mt. Goat! My 9000+ mile average is 21.2mpg...800 mile of city only gets you 18.9 mpg....my recent trip to the Mountains was a mix of city/Highway and curvy mountain roads using Sport mode shifting manually got me 24.4 mpg..200+ miles of Interstate only (75 mph) was 25.5 mpg. P.S. 9000 miles and NO rattles or squeeks!

2.7L twin turbo SUV by Ford? OMG i'm in love

Just picked up a 2016 Sport Kona Blue Metallic from a local private party with 200 miles and an in-service date of 11/26/16. So, practically new for over $10k off MSRP and no state sales tax in my state on private party vehicle sales. That saves an additional $3k. Has 21's, Pano, 401A equipment group. Very nice CUV, upgraded from a 2014 SEL. The 2.7 is very strong. Read the user manual cover to cover and watched RU-vid vids to learn how to use all the technology.

I've always been a fan of the edge. Especially the sport model. Sexy ass car/crossover and pretty quick too. I recently rented the '16 Explorer with the 3.5 litre, non turbo, and it was very hard not to speed. I would be on the highway driving from West Texas to Dallas and I would look down and see if was going 100 mph without realizing it. I really like this new "sport" model with 21 inch wheels, hell yah son!

We have the exact model, trim level, color...but a 2015. Quick little SUV! The ride in the Sport is a little stiff for my liking while cruising, but it handles well and accelerates deceptively fast.

Went with my dad yesterday to get him a new F150. He ended up picking a 2016 supercab 4x4 XLT sport 302a with the 2.7L Ecoboost. I drove it around a little and wow, that 2.7L is an impressive little engine. Moves the truck around swiftly and effortlessly. I gotta think its a blast in that Edge.

Very cool! I have a 2014 Ford Edge and it has done very well for 3 years!

For what it's worth, Edge Sport 0-60 is in the mid 5s. With a tune, 5 seconds flat. Explorer Sport, stock is in the high 5s. I got one a few weeks ago (black just like the one in this video)...what a blast it is to drive. Coming from a 14 Fusion Titanium, the difference in power is night and day. Great review!

A month ago I was looking for a new vehicle, and the Edge Sport looked like such a cool car. A new Sport model was above my budget, but the SEL and Titanium didn't do nothing for me, so instead of a new SEL I got a barely used, fully loaded, Sport, that looks ten times better and handles amazing. I got that "Electric Spice" (gold/orange) color, that works so well with the black trim and wheels, and in the same time is easy to see by all this texting drivers on the road this days. :) Had not been for videos like this, I would have gotten basic transportation, but, thanks to reviews like this, I got myself something extremely enjoyable. Thank you very much for steering me in the right direction.

I just bought a sport that looks exactly like this loaded and I am in love with it. Beware of buying tires for the 21in wheels though as they runs 300- over 500 per tire. Hopefully my tires will last for years and they eventually come down in price =).

Thank you for this in depth video!!! I watched your first video on the edge sport when I was shopping around. Last month I picked up an identical edge sport. Black/black with the pano and 21" wheels. The one regret I have is buying a front wheel drive instead of the AWD. I live in California and didn't think I needed AWD. The problem is this engine is so powerful that there is tons of torque steer when you really get on the throttle. I on,y had test driven an AWD edge sport. Other than that, I LOVE THIS CAR!!! You're so right about it looking bad ass!!

Great review! I saw a black sport one at my dealer here in the UK today - very slick! Really annoyed as I bought a Kuga (Escape) back in April and I wasn't told about this coming out!! Will look at getting one in a year or two; hopefully by then Ford will make petrol engines available as it's currently only 2L diesel in the UK for the Edge.

Those partial suede/leather seats used to only be on the Sport model but they are now available as an option on Titaniums with the dark interior.

Discovered something today when looking to replace my 2013 Edge with a new one. In my 2013 I can get four sets of golf clubs across. The new Edge is narrower so the clubs do not fit across. Guess Ford does not consider the width of the cargo area important.

Nice...the power of the twin turbo, 2.7lt is a nice feature. @ 11.40 a distinct rattle is heard and it persists while the road is irregular and rough. Did not notice it before you opened the moonroof. Beware, the moonroof has been known to have issues with rattle on less than perfect smooth roads and the rail is at times the culprit.

Great Review! i bought the exact same truck not too long ago. black on black looks great specially with the black rims. I just wish they put the same 3.5L v6 TT for this truck as the explorer sport and the taurus SHO. I mean come on a Taurus has 3.5 so should this truck. its still quick though but that 3.5 would be awesome!

Just got mine today! Feels much more powerful than my old 2013 model! Got black on black, on black rims. Just hoping the MPG will better than my 2013....

I am also 6’ 2” and we have a 2015 Ford Edge Sport on our lot. I’m considering trading in my 15 F-150 Supercrew for this vehicle. With the panoramic roof did you feel that the roof was a little too low? Also did you feel like Ford should have included power pedal? Maybe it just feels small to me because I’m used to my F-150

Can you let me know if the steering wheel in the stop position is tight as in the Edge 11-14 generation? My 2014 edge wheel feels like BMW-s of 2000s.... I want to upgrade, but the wheel tightness is one of the important points. Thx)

Although I like the 2016 Ford Edge, I like the body types of the 2007-2010 and 2011-2014 better. I actually have a 2010 Black Ford Edge. It has lots of power, but I am going throw a turbocharger with an inter-cooler, blow out valve, pressure release valve, and get it calibrated on a machine in it so I get it from 265 to 500 hp of pure power. I am still doing my research on it. I want to buy the lowering springs to eliminate the slight rocking back sensation. It would probably be better to upgrade to 2016.

What do you prefer 2014 edge sport or 2016 edge sport? Personally I like the design of 2014

I noticed you shot 2 different Edge Sport, 1 with a vista roof & the other without, is the headroom difference noticeable? and if you had a chance to drive both, is there a sound difference due to the different roofs/insulation?

5.6second 0-60 is pretty quick. I wonder what a tune would be like on This? The only downside to this rig is that it cost 40k hopefully it depreciated enough in the future

I got a white one for my wife a few months ago. Overall we're very happy. There are a few things that bother me. First, is that the car has some sort of aerodynamic affect that sucks dirt to the rear end. Within a couple of days after detailing, the car it will be filthy at the rear even though the car is still very clean otherwise. Next is the power. It has plenty, but the throttle response is a bit laggy . Mash the peddle and it takes a second or two to really get after it, and the shifts are lethargic compared to higher end comparable cars like an Audi. Still. plenty of performance for 99% of users. 3rd, The sunrooof makes a hell of a noise when open. Above 35mph or so it is almost unbearable. Its not a big deal to me because I don't care for sunroofs( my wife digs them and its her car) but the moonroof is awesome. The thing corners awesome! Nice tight suspension with virtually no body roll. Overall very happy. Edited to add that we are getting around 17 mpg which is pretty lousy.

Lots of road noise on the video. Very difficult to hear what you are saying. Ford needs to lose the thicker steering wheel in the 10 & 2 o'clock positions as it is very uncomfortable, especially on long trips. I especially liked 'keeping your tampons safe'. Funny!! Great review sans the road noise. Thanks again.

The first number in a tire's notated size, is not the diameter of the tire, but the tread width measured in mm's. The tire's diameter is indicated by the last couple digits of the number on the sidewall. For good measure, the middle two digits, indicate the tire's "profile" or the height of the sidewall from the bead of the rim/wheel, to the tread. This number represents the previously mentioned measurement of the sidewall, as a percentage of the tread width. Probably an honest mistake... I hope... some constructive criticism just so no one gets confused. Otherwise very informative and useful video for those looking at the 2016 Ford Edge Sport AWD.

Check before you tint the front windows in the doors. In many areas it's illegal. And don't check with the window tinting company, they may lie about it.
