[Jan 2017] I finally went back to my 2016 footage and put together this video of some of the activities at last year's marvelous HOT event, which was, as always, sponsored by Mike Librik and his Easy Street Recumbents shop in Austin, TX, and which transpired in February 2016.
HOT continued the unique and wonderful rally tradition of the Rodeo, where recumbents race against the clock around various arrangements of pylons on a Saturday afternoon. Anthony Fernandez took over rodeo duties in 2016 and did a wonderful job, as you can see from the "Pole-Bending" event footage. Of course there is some video from some of the group rides on Sunday morning, and there is also a smattering of random moments of meet and greet camaraderie and riding about, from Friday and Saturday, and a taste of Bent University events from Saturday morning, as well as a nod to the (much appreciated!) sponsors and raffle donors at the end.
I wasn't completely negligent over the last 10 months, by the way. I actually produced more minutes of video from the 2016 HOT Rally than any of the previous rallies. You can watch an extended cut of 2 Bent University Events: the 5 part video series from Mike Librik's Maintenance Talk, and the 4 part series of BicycleMan's [Peter Stull] History of Recumbents, all on my channel.
By the way, a special thanks to Anthony Fernandez from Austin Event Lighting and Shelly Stracener who together managed most of the rally in 2016, along with Rebecca di Luce, the current Minister of Culture, and also to Jane Knight, the previous Minister of Culture who dreamed up the rodeo in the first place and provided some of the early organizing for 2016.
