Also can create pressure in engine and cause oil leaks on the valve cover gasket

It happened on my 2016 civic. Pcv valve was clogged.

I haven’t seen anyone suggests replacing this as preventative maintenance. What brought you to the attention of this? I have a catch can on my 2017 Si, which many argue isn’t necessary on the L15B7. This makes me want to crack my hood open and see where it is on my engine.
@HandsOnDismantler

SDAlexander it’s not something that you would find in the owners manual but with my years of experience as a mechanic this is something I usually change because they are cheap ( especially on older cars) and just a good piece of mind maintenance. They can purchased for as little as $3 -$5 on some older Ford vehicles. Over the years they get gunked up and can cause issues. That’s why I recommend it and it’s easy 👍🏻

Delete it with this and allows to run a catch can too: kmotorperformance.com/shop/pcv-valve-delete-for-catch-can-fits-10th-gen-honda-civic-2016/

Just wondering, is it possible to install an oil catch can in this car? I have the same and I don't how the oil catch can work if that is the PCV valve.

I’d have to look into it but that’s a great question. Just thinking on the top of my head I don’t think so as there’s no hose on the 2.0l but there might be a way.
@siamimam2109
@siamimam2109 2 года назад
Great explanation bro. Did you also change out the hose? Mine exploded last night :(
@HandsOnDismantler

Thanks for the comment. I’m not sure what hose you’re referring to? There’s no hose on the pcv valve on the 2.0l model.

What other maintenance do you recommend, i have a 2016 Honda Civic ex-t with a 1.5L i bought with 19k and it is now pushing 80k, all i have changed on it was: brakes, rotors, tires, oil, spark plugs, battery. I’m going to do this for sure as well but anything else? It would be great if appreciated advice. Any services or fluids are also appreciated.
@HandsOnDismantler
@HandsOnDismantler 2 года назад
Sounds like you’re on top of it! Great work. I have a video on servicing the transmission fluid. If you haven’t already I’d do that. ASAP. My video may be slightly different because yours is the 1.5. Also I think your pcv might be different compared to the video of mine. It’s a 2.0 non turbo
@natalia4220
@natalia4220 2 года назад
@@HandsOnDismantler I’ve done most fluids too i forgot to mention, put i’ll definitely take a look at it, yeah i know i already checked for the part specific to my car, i just like watching a video if I haven’t done it before, what do you think about changing the ignition wires and coils? should i wait until there’s an issue for that or do it preemptively? and do you have a suggestion on a fuel injector cleaner for the 1.5? or any other fuel additives?
@natalia4220
@natalia4220 2 года назад
@@HandsOnDismantler i worry about fuel additives with the turbo, i’ve tried to do some research, honestly i have no clue of those things are related in anyway, i just want to take good care of my car because the fuel mileage was around 39 mpg and now it’s only about 31-32 mpg
@HandsOnDismantler
@HandsOnDismantler 2 года назад
@@natalia4220 there’s no wires, just coil packs. And I wouldn’t touch them until they go bad. Replacing them early wont do anything perform acne wise and they’ll usually last a LONG time. Over 100k. For fuel injector cleaners, I only use Lucas racing fuel additive. And oil additives for older vehicles. 👍🏼

thank you! you’re the best i really appreciate how simple you make everything, my dad knows car maintenance but doesn’t know a lot about turbo or hondas so i’m so glad someone makes it easy, i don’t always feel like bothering him to help fix my car

What do you mean by vanity cover? The engine cover? They all come standard with it, so if yours doesn’t have it then someone took it before selling it to you.

The left rear window in my Honda civic 2016 does not work;can you help me out;please?
@HandsOnDismantler
@HandsOnDismantler 3 года назад
Manuel Rey that’s a tough one to diagnose over the internet. You need to check all your electrical connections. Check if the car is still under a extended warranty because that should be covered. Check connections Check fuses If your incline enough you can even apply 12v directly to the motor and see if it still works. Chances are the motor needs to be replaced but that’s not likely. They usually last a long time. Have you done any work to the car recently?
@manuelrey2203
@manuelrey2203 3 года назад
@@HandsOnDismantler No; I haven't done any work recently;in july i changed the oil/filter that's it;I didn't even know that i got that problem until yesterday when I was changing the windows molding belts.THANKS A LOT;Have a nice and blessed week.
@HandsOnDismantler
@HandsOnDismantler 3 года назад
Manuel Rey ok then just remove the door panel and double check the connections, first step would be to check the fuse for the window motor if it has one specially for that motor. You would also need to check the window switch. That’s very weird that it stopped working. Not common.

I may be mistaken but I think it’s yellow and located on the back of the valve cover on the passenger side. Same process as this video. Different location.
