Today's unboxing review is for a car that we think could have been better than what was produced. The 2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a rear-wheel-drive upscale sports car that, at one point, was somewhat considered an alternative to the likes of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Not so much anymore. In fact, 2016 will be its last model year. Power comes from a 3.8-liter V6 with 274 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic.
The overall design inside and out is nice but, yes, it looks dated. Makes sense considering the car was first launched back in 2009 (though it was refreshed in 2013). But what we don't get is why Hyundai never stuffed the V8 from the previous generation Genesis sedan under the hood of its coupe counterpart? That scenario could have taken Hyundai to a whole new level of street cred. But it wasn't meant to be. Still though, the Genesis Coupe is a nice car and if you want one, you'd better act fast. Enjoy the review.
