2016 - Jugalbandi by Shashank Subramanyam & Abhishek Raghuram accompanied by Mysore Srikanth (Violin), Patri Satish Kumar & Ananth R Krishnan (Double Mridangam) Documented by Shaale Live www.shaale.com
Close my eyes. And almost Dr balamurali and Dr ramani together. Two prodigies together. What more could a music lover would want. Heaven on earth is this. Fantastic and God bless both and all musicians on stage. Pathri sir if laya is there it is you sir. You speak raga thru laya. Blessed to listen to this
i had the privilege of watching this prog in person. stupendous and superb. It took more than ten minutes for the audience to stop the applause at the end of the prog such was the response.we enjoyed every bit of the music from beginning to end. masters
Kudos to Vidwans Shashank and Abhishek ably supported by the accompaniments. Kudos to Sri Ravindra Bhandari, The GM of Canara Bank for making it the Number 1 Bank with 176 branches, 794 ATMs supporting Classical Music. They have also supported UAS GKVK by providing ambulence for the benefit of the needy in the campus.
Divine simply.. Worried abt now thinking that all these will become a history as there wont be possible to conduct any more events at this scale unless and until the corona is eradicated fully
Percussionists are the best musicians. Vocalists ❤️❤️✍️🙏🏻 This is another proof... After... TV Gopalakrishnan (mridangam) Srimushanam Raja Rao.. (") Abhishek (ganchira)
I want to know what would be the scale.. Shruthi...of these two artists . Say raguram sings in 1.5 Shruthi, how does Shashank adjust to this. For flute will the scale be the same. I enjoyed this concert thoroughly
Poetic license is meant for poets to switch certain words to suit the context. I can tolerate if musicians switch certain words to be sensitive (like KVN used to do). But dancing on the stage, and moving limbs vertically and horizontally to reach the unreachable is a "no, no"!
Well. To tell you the truth I couldn't watch the entire programme for other reasons. Somehow this jugalbandhi between a vocalist and a world-renowned flautist like Sri Shashank was irritating from a purist's point of view. I watched it for about 25 mts [strictly 13 mts of the prog] and veered away. When it is coming from you that the singer danced "moving his limbs vertically and horizontally" it is a big no no. Actually that'd have been insulting other musical accompanists on the stage in general and especially Sri Shashank in particular. If Sri Shashank puts up with such nonsense that only shows his magnanimity. [I have watched Sri Shashank playing as a child prodigy in Delhi's AIIMS auditorium some 30 years back and one could see the Blessing of the Almighty in real-life with one's own eyes and hear with one's own ears]. I have watched Sri Abhishek Raghuram's programs on Jaya TV etc. and I thought he was normal. But I wonder why he indulges in such cranky stuff in the presence of a genius such as Sri Shashank. Definitely someone will have to talk to him on that score! Thank you for your response which puts things in proper perspective! I think Sri Abhishek asked for it!
I read with amusement both of your comments ..!! If artistes exhibit their skills 'performing' , RU-vidrs do so by their comments ..!! To that end the above two comments are intriguing and entertaining..! LOL I have carried mixed opinions about Abhishek since i started listening to his..! but in this vid, despite his 'dancing' & 'moving limbs' (LOL, yes he does a bit, attracting explicit attention) he did show brilliant mastery of his ability too one has to admit... Some of the complex notes are easily played on musical instruments (I can't, on any instrument, though) but bringing out the same effect in vocals is very difficult and at times impossible. Abhishek did bring that with his mathematical swaras and ragha brighas ((his Mrudhangam expertise is handy here) etc ...! We must give him on that ...!! He has certainly mellowed from his scintillating firefly performances to the mellifluous. He has performed in this video, truly conscious of who he is performing with ... Bodily antics, if undesirable, fade out if we focus on his output ... Its a big vote up from me for Abhishek ... Equally stand out performance is, Patri ... We have a violin, a Mrudhangam and then Patri for accompaniments in this concert. Anantha is a pedigree too but in the company of the three stalwarts is seemingly fading in their shadows as is the violinist ..! Overall a great jugalbandhi ... rare ...
