+1guyin10 I've said this a million times, but Lincoln should BRAG that their cars are floaty, cushy, and entirely the opposite of sporty. That thing should have quilted velour, shag carpet, wood everywhere, and a cat door. It should waft down the road in utter silence. Nobody makes cars like that anymore except Rolls. It should have a hot chicken broth dispenser in the dash, and foot warmers. And Lincoln should have real names. Even bad names would be better than alpha-numerics. M K who gives a fuck. This should be America's Luxury Pillow Barge, not American's Like an Audi but Cheaper.
I would like to see them put more effort into the interiors. That center stack looks horribly cheap considering the space it is playing in. However, I personally think the exterior looks quite nice. Better than the new Lexus for sure.
+Alex Chavez The wood is quite nice in person. The one panel I tapped on was particularly hallow though, it needs some substance on the back for a beefier feel.
Lincoln is definitely delusional if they thing people will pay $62K for this. The Lincoln name doesn't really have much prestige, and the leather and wood trim look so cheap. Would much rather have the competition over this (Lexus RX, Mercedes GLC, Audi Q5, BMW X3, even the Acura RDX and Volvo XC60). Lincoln definitely needs to do something more daring to win over more luxury car buyers.
+dcharizard91 The RX is hideous, The Q5 and X3 are quite aged and behind at this point, same with the RDX and the Volvo. Only the GLC can truly compete with the Lincoln. Although, the Lincoln beats all of them in looks and power.
+Protector of the Republic Styling is subjective...I think the MKX looks dated and boring compared to the RX. The Q5 and X3 might be dated, but they are aging well and updates are coming soon. I actually view Lincoln as more of a sub-luxury brand that competes with Volvo, Acura, and Buick.
+dcharizard91 Nothing about the leather in the MKX is cheap, especially the one in this video. This MKX has Bridge of Weir leather from Scotland and black label models get even more customized leather. I'd take this leather any day compared to anything Lexus uses. Have you seen the new RX's interior, how does that leather not look cheap?
I drove all above and ended up with a used 16 Lincoln OTD for 38 k sticker of 65k. FULLY loaded, blew all above Bmw, acura, etc away. Oh, anything with info tainment minus touch screen was DOA. Lexus grill is hideous IMO. and no touchscreen, what are they thinking . Lexus used to be on top of it, oh well. LOVE my MKX.
I'd kill for this sound system from Revel. Wish other car makers would go the same route and not just the usual Bose mediocre nonsense you find in way too many cars.
Great review, as usual! Looks like Lincoln has a winner.I like this vehicle's styling, detail, and ride, but like you, I fear the price is a bit too precious. Not sure why they wouldn't go the full value route. I could almost drink the Black Label kool-aid if I didn't fear seeing MKX's with dealer $7500 off banners very soon. Whatever we decide, hope it's a success for them.
+Billy Sou Nope. I tested the Reserve model that sits below the Black Label. Note that I never talk about incentives and the MKX definitely has them right now. That lowers the price. But if a buyer is simply shopping on the internet and sees that price I have to believe it will turn them away without test driving. It's a mistake I believe has held Cadillac back.
+Driven Car Reviews i'm surprised they just don't let you have it for 10 minutes and save a ton of trouble. but if you can get "miles" on the charge, LOL
Gee Tom, you mean the much slower, sloppier handling, uglier, smaller, RX350 with fewer storage nooks and an inferior nav/infotainment system using a sloppy joystick costs less? Btw, in reality, with discounts, it cost the same or less.
Liked the MKX I rented with I guess was the 3.7...could not figure out how to open the hood after the interior release was clicked...the at night approach was very nice! Very quiet and responsive!
+Protector of the Republic at least it doesn't have a faulty transmission and turbo problems.... Whats the point of having performance when it's only to get to the garage hahaha. Also, I like the look of the new Lexus SUVs... all tastes are in the nature.
