people who dont understand vehicle engineering look at 155hp and think that is a low number so the car is useless.

My first thought was "why didn't you put the 2.5L skyactive engine in this car?" And then I noticed that this car has a pefect 50/50 weight distribution and is the fastest factory MX-5 yet. This car doesn't need more power... it needs less weight.

Motor Trend clocked the ND at 5.8 sec for 0-60. That's the same time they got for the last Mazdaspeed3 tested in 2010! This 2.0L Skyactiv might be making more than the advertised 155/148 horsepower/torque or some sort of Mazda witchcraft is going on here!!!

BBS brembo package... cause that what this car really needed of all things.. bigger brakes... you kno to stop all that extra power... really mazda.

3 reviews got 0 to 60 MPH runs in under 6 secs so the ND is the fastest factory Miata ever made... Fastest so far are two reviews at 5.8 secs and 1 at 5.9 secs. Fastest 1/4 mile is 14.2 secs

This is a great car! I didn't like the previous Mx-5's design, but this is a step up from it! And in every review I've seen it is affirmed (what Mazda's engineers proclaimed) that they made it fun to drive. I can really see myself savin' up for this one, maybe to get a performance package and slightly more HP, too. What I wonder about is, can I - at 6 feet 2ish - actually fit into this car, and will I be comfortable in it?

I just noticed... Where is the light in the car? for example if your looking for something and its night... there is a light source in there right?

test drove it today! It was amazing! I would have bought it but I want to hold for a better model. They only had the base and it has a small screen for the radio instead of the bigger tablet like infotainment center

I love mazdas. I currently drive a 2011 mazda 3. most fun car to drive. driving should be fun, not boring. i'd probably buy an MX-5 for my next car..

Mazdas done well to keep the plot but I'd still love to see it with around 200hp but I guess this will just make tuned NDs even cooler.

I was really looking forward to this 2016 Miata but I gotta say I'm disappointed ...I loved the styling inside and out but 155 hp even with such a light weight doesn't cut it for me ...I wish the 2.5 L was an option or 2.3 turbo or something

Like the car. But 155hp is pathetic. Better to by a 3 year old NC for 1/2 the price. And spend some on upgrades. Can't believe they lost the 50/50 weight distribution. Total fail there. Also the MPG is not that impressive. Especially when you factor premium fuel. Drove an NC 600 mile trip. 30MPG top down 80MPH most of the way. For 7K you can get a supercharger and push 250hp at wheels... Don't understand Mazda. Build a great car then castrate it with less than best power. 180+ HP should have been the goal.

Hmm, not a great review. Pretty much everything that was said here is information already made known. The impressions were unsatisfactory. Just more of what everyone says when they drive a Miata

Saw the Miata in person and its so cute. Plus I like how easy and quick it is to move the top.

There was a time when Miata's could only be bought with a premium price attached. Those days might return with this 2016. Great car!

I really like this car. I would go for the Club model if I was going to buy one right now. The Mazda engineers did a really good job. I think the one hand roof close is brilliant. I can see people really loving this car. I am afraid to test drive it for the fear of buying one and having to explain it to my wife ;)

The plasticky satnav screen sticking out in the middle of the dashboard absolutely kills it for me...

The 2016 Mazda Mx-5's infotainment/navigation screen is ugly and looks like an aftermarket afterthought protruding out of the dashboard. To do this right, they should have included the infotainment/navigation screen into the dashboard screen that currently has the RPM like Lamborghini Huracan.

Only 155 Hp, come on!!! the brz 200 Hp and later this? I am saying both cars are slow OK, i want to let that clear!

For all you people crying sacrilege about putting a larger or American made motor in these cars, please look up an AC Cobra, or Sunbeam Tiger. I plan on doing just that. New Miata. Drive it stock for a few years, then yank the engine and go crazy with a fat V8. You guys don't know what you're missing!

To make this car perfect, it needs: Air intake on the bonnet like Ferrari California Carbon fibre monococque chasis like the new Alfa Spider with hardtop 200 hp Paddle shifters A good looking rear diffuser with dual symmetrical exhaust pipes then I think it would be the best roadster ever or even the best car

This car weighs more than my mk2 and has worse power to weight and the new engine is less capable than its mk1 or mk2 and won't except forced induction as standard like the mk1 or mk2.!!! Why can't car makers make cars like they used to, in fact they should be better than the old car not worse. This car could have been awesome, a stronger engine with more options, an engine that revs to 8 or 9k is what this car needed. IMO people have gone soft :)

STOP IT PEOPLE. Power output means NOTHING in the real world. This car does 0-60 in under 6 seconds. It crushes the BRZ/86, it keeps up with a stock S2000. That is all that matters. The Skyactiv engine is amazing. Its torque curve is flat

new style doesn't wipe away lack of power, kid. which is still the #1 complaint for almost 30 years.

What's the deal folks? The brembo brakes are better brakes than the stock single piston calipers! 4 Pistons are always better! Does the car need it? Maybe or maybe not...until there is a side by side comparison between the GT and the club...nobody has done this yet. $3400 to get 4 forged real BBS wheels, 2 brembo 4 piston front calipers, some cool looking side skirts and rear skirting and red painted rear calipers and almost 15 lbs or more weight savings...sounds like a good deal. Since it's all stock... It's pricey but adding this aftermarket will be just as pricey...sure there are cheaper brakes and wheels that might be just as good as the brembos and BBS wheels but Ferrari and Lamborghini come with real brembos...and I don't see those folks changing out to other brakes...and BBS wheels are made in Germany so they are expensive... Also these BBS wheels that the MX-5 has in these option on the club run about $655 each on the BBS website in the 17X7 size but the ones mazda choose could be different and lighter we won't know until somebody weighs each wheel. I think overkill but worth it if you can afford it...

So if you go to an automatic they remove the Monte Carlo Bar and the Limited Slip? well that's stupid. and drive in stop go traffic with a manual Mr. Host, day in day out for a few months, you may have more of an appreciation for an auto after that. and at 5:01 No that is not true, the first gens were built around small 5'8 to 5'6 Japanese people, not 5'10' americans, and 25 to 30 G for this? that's too much, 15 to 20 base would make far more sense, as with the BRZ out there right now and the prices coming down. This car is going to only have a small turn around, especially when compared against what you can get at the volkswaggen dealership for that kind of money.

Great little car but in my opinion, it's not worth paying premium gas if it's only going to deliver 155hp. It would be better if the car had 200hp with or without a turbo. Also for that price Mazda could have put a taller roll bar for track purposes. It won't be long till someone adds a v8 or force induction in these. I'm a Miata fanboy but this car is severely underpowered, somebody bring back the s2000.

Are you kidding? Over 26K? Shoot, put a 2.5L with a healthy 200+ hp and then I'll fork over that much. Until then, there's way better cars on the market. I'll take a BRZ over this in a heartbeat.

I like that it's smaller and lighter. I don't like the styling though.... F**k this s***t. Buy a crashed NB 20th anniversary and a straight NA shell, swap anything and get the best Miata ever for much less!

Fans like me who love old Mazda (prior to smiley face gen) hate the new styling and lack of performance. If I wanted an eco friendly car id just buy a Prius. I drove the skyactive Mazda6 and was sorely dissapointed about power. I ended up driving home a Jetta because it had more zoom-zoom fun.

I like the looks actually.. But agree, 155 hp seems low for any sports car these days. I understand it's man and machine and about being one with a car vs fighting it.. But i think 200hp on a high revving engine would have made it sublime..

A significant styling upgrade over the NC models. Not a unique look, however. One glance at the Ferrari California will confirm this. From the results of the Motor Week report there is plenty of room for improvement.

I understand what the mx5 is for and all, and am quite the fan of the NA models. What I don't understand is how Mazda takes the base 2.0L engine from the 3, retunes it for better throttle response and for it to take premium gasoline, and it ends up making the same horsepower and less torque and worse fuel economy. I'm in no way saying it needs more power or hating on the car itself.

If only Mazda would make hardtop fastback Miatas from the factory? Why go to all the trouble to make it a great driver's car, then have it be a convertible. And honestly, fastbacks look amazing on Miatas.

It's so dame ugly, Pity it's way too small, they even did away with the glove compartment. Talk about working overtime on eliminating practicality. The worst part is the rear end it just drops off for no reason, unless the reason is to diminish the trunk totally. The rear end should big, long, and wide, to balance out the huge hood. What you get is a design that is out of proportion, a Giant front end, and a tiny back end. It's great to drive but I like to look at beautiful things there it fails. If they keep going with these designs the car will just stop at the door, haha

28k USD for the Club model just to get that LSD is a little expensive. I'd probably consider it second hand after a few years.

If you cant drive a manual then your not a real driver and you don't deserve a drivers car. Just an automatic gearbox option is annoying, seeing second hand cars like these for sale with an automatic gearbox makes me sick. xD
