2016 Mitsubishi Outlander UNBOXING Review - The Hidden Gem Honda And Toyota Can't Stand?

Do all three-row crossovers have to cost over $30k? That's what I wanted to find out for my latest unboxing review of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. For anyone in need of an affordable crossover with three rows (although that third row might be a tight squeeze) and built to Japanese quality standards, look no further.
Sure, the Outlander may not be exciting to, well, car enthusiasts, but for those who don't want to spend a lot of money on a spacious new crossover the latest Outlander could be for you. In fact, I think it's something of a hidden gem within this segment, too often overlooked for the likes of the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V (neither of which offers a third-row, just saying). With a choice of two engines, a four-cylinder and a V6, the Outlander does everything it's supposed to do without breaking the bank. Heck, it starts off at $23k.
So check out my latest review and I hope you'll better understand what I mean when I say 'hidden gem.' Enjoy!

Unboxing? Ha! Hilarious. Thanks for the great video. I rented this SUV last week. I didn't like it much, but I really enjoyed your take on this.

Also the 3rd roll seat is useless and dangerous in this suv. I would not put anyone in the back. If someone rear end you on the highway, everyone all the way back there would be crushed. I wish they would make the 3 roll seat as an option on the GT model. I would use the third role seats as my cargo divider.......lol

I'm really interested in this for my next new vehicle, but I have to be honest. My heart dropped when you said this car shares platform (as well as the 4cyl) with the Compass and Journey. Those are terrible vehicles. I guess what Chrysler chose to do with their shared components weren't smart choices, because I'm reading that the Outlander has very good customer satisfaction.

The secret is that the Outlander is built in Japan, where build quality is a higher priority.

You can get one of these with AWC brand new for around $23,000 where I live. It's a super deal, but Mitsubishi makes me wary.

Why do you fear Mitsubishi?

It's not so much a reliability issue (from what I understand, they're pretty reliable), but more of a quality issue (in terms of interior build quality) and the fact that they could pull out of the U.S. at any time. This car really does interest me, though.

I own a '16 Outlander in white and i'm so in love haha. I couldn't have asked for a better first car. It does everything i need it to do and as for interior build quality, it is really nice. Fun fact: The '16 Outlander is 100% Japanese parts which i thought was cool. You should check it out personally of u have the chance. I'm sure you'll love it

This is good to hear. I literally just arrived home a couple of hours ago with a 2016 that the dealer let me take home for the night and tomorrow to test it out to see what I think of it....nice shiny white one just like yours. I'm very impressed thus far. Have to be honest it wasn't a car that I would have considered, but the dealer suggested it and I thought, hey why not try it out and see. Will make up my mind tomorrow, so I'm glad to hear your review. How can one not be impressed with a 10-year warranty? I mean really...

ACS402010 Glad to hear! Oh and if u plan on buying the mitsu outlander, the 2017 just came out and I think u should get that. It now comes with Apple car play and android auto. As well as an electronic parking brake and now offer a bigger 7.5 touchscreen! Altough, I still really love my '16 outlander, but i just wanna point it out if u were to buy one. Check out their website for more details if u get the chance

"Not the best car for passing"..........that's why you need a v6. Outlander's tiny 4 has no power at all. A regular v6 is way more reliable and economical to run than most of turbo engines which run on premium gas and expansive to fix if the turbo is blown after 60 or 70k.

Exactly. Then again, those who buy the Outlander typically don't care about passing. Also, if the third row was too dangerous, this car wouldn't be on sale. Period. But yes, that third row is borderline useless.

Don't agree. I have the 4 cylinder and it has more than enough power to pass. I had to pass many times on my last road trip I slipped it into sport mode and off we went.

the V6 is "premium recommended". If you run it on regular, you will lose a significant amount of power. Fuel economy will probably suffer as well.

The 4 cylinder is perfectly Fine and gets 28 mpg no problem at all, better if you are on the highway.
