2016 Porsche Cayenne 3.0L V6 Diesel Review

I drive a diesel 2016 Porsche Cayenne and give you the quick info on what this car is about. If you're looking for an SUV in the $72k range, you can get a Porsche Cayenne with a V6 diesel. You'd think a diesel Porsche SUV is a crazy idea, but it's a strange mix of abilities, details, and it's subtle about its ways.

Every 911 owner should shake the hand of any Cayenne owner they meet...thanks to Cayenne sales, the 911 was saved and will continue on for likely another 50 years...

I have been driving 2013 Cayenne Diesel since 2015. Moved from Cali to NV , traveled to the Northwest and finally settled in TN few years back. It is one amazing vehicle

I know this video is 6 years old, but I just got a 2015 Cayenne Diesel and it's a ridiculously awesome vehicle. Feels like a Porsche, steers and handles like one too. With a tune it gets to 60 about as fast as my mk5 VW R32. Ride is a wonderful balance between sporty and comfort, and is very responsive to tire change (approaching the halfway point between stiff and comfort on Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV, more comfy on a softer sidewall tire). I can't think of any vehicle I'd rather have, including large sedans. Other than the S version we can't get in the united states.

Dude this is the response I was looking for.. i just picked up a 2015 as well. Nicely optioned out. Wondering how I’ll tune it after the emissions warranty is over. Which tuner did you go for? Congrats on your car. Hoping you’re loving it more and more. Can’t wait for delivery of mine.

+Vlad Saghin While the VW Touareg TDI is identical to the Porsche, the problem is that an Audi Q7 TDI is available for roughly the same price as a loaded Touareg. As for the Cayenne, it makes sense if you don't want a BMW X5. Although, if you like the Cayenne and if the price is too high, you can get a Touareg TDI. Some will argue that the Q7 TDI is the better choice. Either way, the Touareg TDI, Q7 TDI, and Porsche diesel are putting out similar power. The Q7 has a 3rd row and seats 7. The Porsche is definitely rides and sounds the sportiest. The BMW X5 is probably the closest competition to the Cayenne. The Audi Q5 is much smaller than the Cayenne and the new Macan is actually based on the Q5. An SQ5 is the closest competition to a Porsche Macan S. However, none of these cars have anything to complain about besides the fact that a radical new Q7 will be here by January or March 2016.

Love this car, but the spare tire is a huge disappointment. That's a really important detail for practical purposes. For a car that big, there's simply no excuse for not having a full-size spare that's already inflated.

Nice car! And for a "base" model it seems pretty well equipped... I say that because in Europe, a base model is pretty basic and you can easily double the price with options you'd think would come standard. If not, why not a Touareg V6 TDi? Other than badge snobbery, it's pretty much alike but a lot cheaper! On another note, have you ever looked at the 2015 Skoda Superb they have in Europe? It's GORGEOUS but yet so inexpensive and has all the components of a VW!! And it's similar to an Audi A8 in size!!! It would sell well over here I think. Unfortunately, we're stuck with the american Passat...
@DieselDrives
@DieselDrives 8 лет назад
VW should bring the Skoda here and call it a Jetta. They should bring the EU Passat here and call it a Passat. The Touareg is nice and it shares the same platform as the Cayenne, but you can get more options on the Porsche. A loaded Touareg costs more than a Q7, and I know which one I'd rather have.

You can no longer buy a new Cayenne diesel, or a certified used one from Porsche, here in the USA. VW put a "stop-sale" order on all of their 3.0-liter diesels in all of their brands until their "fix" is accepted by CARB and the EPA. That hasn't happened yet.
@DieselDrives
@DieselDrives 8 лет назад
+Jeff Puha That's right, because they are "broken."
@michaelmartin3124
@michaelmartin3124 8 лет назад
You are partially correct. You cannot currently purchase a Porsche Cayenne Diesel from a Porsche dealer, however, you can buy them from a non P-car dealer or private party. They best part is they all were provided with fully transferable 6yr/100K warranties from Porsche after the VW scandal. Normally the CPO warranty is void if you buy a Porsche from a non P-car dealer. Not with the diesels. They are one of the top-rated vehicles in quality and now you have the extra piece of mind with the extra warranty. I just bought a 2015 Diesel for my wife that will give us a full dealer warranty until mid 2021. Awesome!

Hey Bryan, what suv do you recommend me to buy? I was thinking about the Q5 but its really kinda small, Q7 too big.
@DieselDrives
@DieselDrives 8 лет назад
+Juan Zhu VW Touareg, BMW X5, Mercedes GLE will all be larger than the Q5 but not have 3rd row seating. They will only be slightly smaller than the Q7. Range Rover Sport is also nice, but has a 3rd row. The biggest by far is the Mercedes GLS. GM and Toyota now make some larger entry level models with high price tags as well. The Acura MDX and Infiniti QX30 might be in that size range you're looking for.
@juanzhu8171

+Diesel Review its neccesary for a 3rd row seats. Im 22 years old now im thinking to buy a new suv, like kind a "medium luxury suv" but i dont want it too big like family size such as Q7, GLE, GLS, GMC, etc. The Toureg TDI is good and if you want it well packed, the final price is too high, close to a base Cayenne or X5. And i think that the interior of the X5 is kinda simple. The Cayenne is my dream car but the here in Panama is 90k aprox. for the base model. I dont know if you recommend me to go for a second hand Cayenne. Thanks for your reply Nice videos!!

What's it like to insure and how much is the parts ,!all mega expense £ 200 per hour for your local Porsche dealer plus they are endless money pits because they are one of the most unreliable vehicles on the road to day they came second from the bottom ,yeah they look beautiful ,,,but buyers beware once you've spent a small fortune to buy one ,that's the expenditure just starting, I know a guy bought one 4 year a old low mileage service history and it broke down 7 times in a year costing 5 grand in the process everything went wrong the drive shaft bearings went but he had to replace the whole drive shaft water leak s ruined the electronics and ECU a rattle tapping noise from the engine air suppision compressor packed in and tyres were scrap at 8000 miles ,,,he swore to me never again ,and this beautiful Porsche is now running like crap and he can't afford to get it fixed yet again,,so go ahead my Porsche lovers go get your Porsche and I will be laughing my nuts of when I go past you in my ultra relatable Lexus rx , c ya guys good luck you will need it ,,s

The 'money pit' comment always from someone that would like a Cayenne but won't or can't afford one. And, as humans like to do, then crap all over another person's like or desire. I have owned Toyota, Honda, Volvo, BMW, Lexus, Mitsubishi and Volkswagen---and my Cayenne Diesel has been my MOST reliable vehicle. Way over 100k miles and still runs silky smooth getting mid 30's mpg. Yes, upkeep is more expensive (oil changes, filters, fluids, etc) but no repairs yet. My Toyota FJ Cruiser has given me about $5,000 in repairs the past 3 years, by the way.

@@prabeeshsidhu I still love mine. I did have a check engine light that turned out to be a sensor. Covered under the diesel warranty, though so no cost to me. Be sure to check when yours was "modified" as that date (posted under the hood) will let you know how many years/miles you have to use. Of course, only the Porsche dealer will service the warranty.
