2016 revival part 1 

Okay , I've got one requirement for anyone playing Munkustrap , and it's that his legs need to be apart at all times . They are never allowed to touch . If you've watched the 1998 film version you know exactly what I'm talking about .

the way they all turned their heads so fast in sync to look at the shoe drop just like real cats would do is genius

The fact that you can still kinda hear misto before his mic is turned on goes to show how deticated these singers/dancers are. He didnt stop singing even though his mic was off!

God, that overture is DELICIOUS! When the music alone can stir emotion and get your heart pounding, then the composer's done an astounding job! Definitely one of my favorites.

Lmao Munkustrap looked dead at the camera when he said the third “what’s a jellicle cat”

This musical is so unbelievable. I've never seen this many cats get along in real life.

This is the perfect vantage point to see the amazing choreography.

Omg they’re just about identical to the original!!! I could cry brings me back to my child hood! I can’t believe i missed it!

The dislikes are from Growltiger, Griddlebone, Billy McCaw, the Rumpus Cat costume, Gillian Lynne's choreo, and the updated Rum Tum Tugger for not making it into the revival.

Anyone else here after watching the trailer to get the picture out of your heads?? Edit: I don’t hate the movie, but I do think it takes the magic out of it; The costumes, the make up, the fact that is sang through, is what makes Cats Cats. Plus I think the plot is not “strong” enough for a movie

I saw a bootleg of a performance in March of this year (US tour) of this number and it looks like they've incorporated a lot of Gillian Lynne's choreography back in.

My aunt first took me to this show when I was about five. I am now 29 and still love it 💓

I love the adjustments they made tot the show with this revival, the changes seem to make so much sense. Unlike the movie lol

I actually saw this way back in 2016 for a Girl Scouts trip and it was one of the most interesting Broadway experiences ever!

So many beautiful slime tutorials on youtube right now and just getting better and better.

I saw the first cats musical live when I was little in Iowa.

but personally I prefer Gillian Lynne’s original choreography way more than this production’s

*EDIT: i've seen the US tour cast twice so far and in my second viewing (i wasnt paying so much attention on victoria particularly during this number the first time around) they've seemed to have gone back to the old choreography a LOT more since when this production happened, as in victoria actually doing the old choreography and movements for that part instead of just lying there. interesting, and a welcome change back to the old choreography* obviously there's factors in the new choregoraphy that i like and am okay with but it's like everytime i watch this i find more gripes with it... (to no major detriment to the revival, overall i love the cast and the production and wish i was able to see it live) 12:35 when that part kicks in, having victoria not rouse and break away from the group/be the only one moving throws me off and annoys me more than it should. and when that piano (?) at 13:00 plays, she's supposed to be like... doing something. preparing for her solo, catching the attention of the audience early while not breaking the 'trance' of the song completely-- she's a core part of it. to have her stay still like that is just an odd choice especially since it makes it so that change in tune has no function or reason. in my basic musical-watching eyes, of course. im no musician or composer or actor or anything of the sort.

I know this is a bit controversial to say, but this is by far my favorite production of Cats.

It's three in the morning. I've watched three musicals and still have legally blonde lines in my head. I need to sleep. This is a PSA to those like me who can and will pull an all nighter to watch shows and further fuck up their lazy eye. Go the fuck to sleep you can finish them in the morning like a person with sanity and a will to live.

this is very much like my first experience. (back in 89) excellent memory. it was magic and i fell in love with the show.

Why does it sound slower than it should? If you watch it at x1.25 it sounds like it’s supposed to (ie like the 1998 version)

I don't like the tiger flooring. there's no reason for it since it's supposed to be in a scrappy backyard, doesn't do this pehnomoneal cast justice.

The entire production sounds “slower” than it should. In particular the Jellicle songs for Jellicle cats” song sounds so much slower than it should. Perhaps they set the click track a tad bit off or something.

I like the 1998 version of cats instead of the 2016 version.
