I have this truck! I love it. Very useful. I just have one question: would you be able to do record your shifting (foot work)? You drive every manual vehicle you review so well! Would love to see that incorporated in the coming videos. No need to elaborate on how to switch gears or anything. Just a small screen on the corner of the video when you post. Would be very helpful. I just love the interior of the Tacoma so much. That small dashboard that sits you close to the windshield so you get a huge look at the hood. I think Ford should try using a smaller dashboard on the Mustang

Only 2 entry level trucks in the US that offer a manual...Toyota Tacoma and Jeep Wrangler. I chose the wrangler (manual 6-speed) back in 2013. Thinking about a Tacoma now.

This truck does not have plastic bed liner as stated in the video. All Tacomas have a composite bed.

I like the sound of the regular exhaust better. The TRD exhaust is too loud in my opinion. This one still allows for a nice growl, but is not intrusive.

great review! I found one of these at a local toyota dealer but a 17 from my research I don't think much has changed from 16/17. I'm curious as to the actual highway mpg's as I drive 80 miles a day and this would be my main transportation vehicle.

Yes, the automatic has been plagued with problems since launch. Check out all the complaint threads Tacoma World forums. Most manual drivers are very happy, however.

Best review of manual Tacoma. Would like to see you skip shifts though... go from 2nd to 4th for example maybe try to start in 2nd. Engine powerful enough to do that. MSRP is 37k not 32k... think you misread that off the sheet. Nice review overall!

Debating whether i should get a manual or automatic. Also, sport vs offroad. I dont plan on going offroad but i like the looks of the offroad more and the locking differential is handy. Im used to driving automatic tacomas, so idk if i should get a manual or automatic.

Toyota - do some research bud. Sorry to burst your bubble... You can get the Tech Package, but that doesn't include the JBL system. Only automatics get the JBL. Build your own on Toyota.com to see

Question here. How did you drive this thing to make it look like it has no torque issues? I was prepared to absolutely LOVE the Tacoma, but after test driving a 2019 manual TRD Off Road this wknd, I was honestly taken aback by how slow and boat-like it was for a mid-size. No matter how I played with the gas and clutch, it's low end torque was horrendous! Not what I expected 😔 Also the feel of the manual itself - no particular feel to the throws, you can shift with your pinky, and a long clutch that gets your right in the calf - was not engaging to feel that fun and oomph factor. Is the TRD Sport different? Anyone else have Off Road experiences that are different?

I think the manual comes with bigger diffs. with how much more powerful it feels over the auto version. it's got the same engine, so idk how that can be other than a different hear ratio in the diffs. the auto and manual transmission gear ratios are almost identical.

6-speed manual is the number one selling point for a Tacoma! The number one problem with the Tacoma is half of them are made in Mexico. I will only buy a vehicle that is designed and manufactured in the United States, no exceptions. The price on the Tacoma is a bargain for what you get though.

It is a outstanding truck to have! I have the exact truck in silver. It's the most reliable mid size on the market. research 1st and 2nd Gen tacomas people still drive them with over 200,000 miles and have only had minor issues. Toyota is where it's at.

+Not Bad Toyota trucks are the most reliable machines on this planet. Chevy is decent, but Toyota will out outlast any type of truck. The Tundra is the same, very reliable.

the manual doesn't come with any of that. but bad ass traction control and A-TRAC, which is amazing btw, come with the manual. With those on, hill control and crawl control is pretty much 1st gear in 4wd low. still have to use the pedal though. just a little. Oh yeah no hill start assist with the manual tacos either, thank god. I stall out more with hill start assist. that shit throws me off so bad. never get used to it. I haven't stalled on a hill yet in my 16' taco. fun as shit to drive, and like the dude in the video said, it does shine off-road.

2017 Tacomas are just starting to be made. Any Tacoma that you order right now will be a 2017 and you can get with 7-8 weeks depending on how you spec.

+jake pennington I could be wrong, but I believe the rev hanging is a feature, possibly designed for towing, so the RPMs don't drop too quickly and torque isn't lost. Someone may correct me. This truck is the most reliable truck on the market and resale prices are ridiculously high. Not exactly a turd :P

+Heartagram any car forum is going to be filled with reported problems - 95% of owners will never log on to the forums because they have no problems to fix. Toyota has an incredible history of making reliable cars - this is an undisputed fact. any bugs will likely be worked out by the end of the model year, and then these trucks will sell for $15k in 2030 when every used domestic will be pennies. history repeats itself.

+Heartagram +DynamicsOfFlight Heart's right about the engine being new. that's the only thing I'm holding my breath on while owning this truck. no engine history. for all we know they used parts that are possibly faulty and might fail after 100,000 miles. I dont think Toyota would do that on purpose. but hell if this engine lasts like the previous ones have this is one hell of an investment.
