the rear seat DO fold flat. Either you had a defective truck, or you just didn't push them down all the way. Actually, you can even see in the video that there is still a gap and room to push them down flat.
See? That's the problem people have. They freak out when the stat sheets aren't what they expected. Horsepower numbers/rear drum brakes/no single-cab, etc. I'm sure Toyota HAS a reason for these. 1. Reliability, 2. keep the pricing right, 3. why make it if it won't sell as much as the other trim levels?? It's a great upgrade to the Tacoma name.
Did you really want Toyota to copy the corner bumper steps from GM? I'm glad they didn't. Rear drum brakes, especially the ones Toyota uses on the Tacoma, make sense for an off-road TRUCK not an off-road SUV... this is due to the weight distribution of the Tacoma, and that it's QDR requirements are very high. The rear brakes on the Tacoma are less susceptible to off road debris including sand which can destroy the rotors of disk brakes. Open C in the rear does help with articulation off road, produces lower NVH on road, removes unnecessary mass from the vehicle, and is plenty strong for the intended purposes of the Tacoma, especially when employing a higher percentage of ultra high strength steel.
I don't see why people whine and cry about the drum brakes. It's not a car or an suv like this guys saying. It's not like any of these haters are gonna replace them themselves anyway. And even if they were to replace them, they make it seem like it's rocket science. "oh no I gotta pull springs and remember where they go?!? life's so hard." sorry that life has to be difficult drum haters. boo freakady' hoo. let's see how more often you'll need your precious disks turned in a lifetime compared to the rear end of a Tacoma.
LOL..very true...disc/drum combo is actually the best way to go for a truck like this ( off road/tow package )......for an Elantra GT just going to work and back then yes disc all around...but as the old net saying goes haters gonna hate.
Nissan, Honda, get real, Ridgeline is a chopped minivan, Nissan cheap is all that comes to mind. Approach and departure angle is better than the Chevy/GMC, overall reliability of Toyota is better than the Nissan/GMC/Chevy. Yes competition is good, just let me know when there is some.
Nice review but the Tacoma will be faster than the GM, I think you will be wrong there. The 2015 was tied with the GM But Gm's suspension is garbage for off road and the clearance is horrendous. There was no competition in 2014 or 2015 for the Tacoma and same will go for 2016.
Tacomas do in fact have an optional step if you want it. The back seat folds flat if you read the manual like a regular human being. Guy get paid to review trucks and does not check the options or read the manual, clown shoes.
