I'm no drummer, nor musician come to that. But watching these guys makes the hair on my arms stand up. Marching off stage to the beat of your own drum shouting "Top, Top Secret!". Man, what a buzz!!
MaddenMasher 24 I mean that’s kind of the point, it’s more showman than skill. And each member has you know a real life and a job and stuff. This isn’t Corp where hey can spend hours on end on technique and a super hard book. More like high school where they meet a couple times a week for several hours. It’s basically like your average community band except in drumline
@@seanwoodburn2616 There are over three hundred lines in the US playing harder and cleaner beats. Like Captain kiwi said Corps kids dedicate massive hours and some of us worked forty hours a week and went to school that's what it took. People should enjoy this its fun weekend warrior shit. Like a pep band at a basketball game. Hot dog time
Saw these guys live at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, liked them ever since, brilliantly precise and professional, even with how smoothly they carry on after a slight slip like dropping a drumstick, you'd not notice unless you were looking for it or saw the sticks on the ground. Lots of respect for these guys.
@@marklaurie1if I want a world leader , I would have to go with the switz, drummers and chocolate, world peace my friends, if anyone can do it the swiss ar the ones
In 1960, my mom let my brother's drum section practice their paradiddles in his bedroom. She was a good sport for art!!!The downstairs neighbors ran a hairbrush up and down the radiators for them to stop. Mom said they could practice as long as she was paying rent on time, and for 30 minutes! I loved it!!!This was in B'ham Alabama, Ramsay High school band!!!
this is probably the best drum line on this planet. I watched so many videos of them and it's goosebumps everytime. If you think about that no one of them is a professional drummer and they all do it in their free time. its mind blowing. could watch it all day long...
Omg the best ever and I can see the team work and everyone’s effort. So elegant, dramatic, and talented people. Excellent job. Thank you for your performance gentlemen.
So, ONLY someone who performs can appreciate what it takes to be at the level of these men? I hope people give you more credit than you give them. Work on the chip on your shoulder, please.
@@rosaliemoon5905 Wow! Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed? Since I have a music background, I'm aware of the intense training/competitive atmosphere and was merely giving them credit for their hard work. How that was offensive is a puzzle. Try a spoon full of sugar to sweeten you up. 🙄
I read your comment before I watched the vid. I missed it, but saw a stick on the floor being kicked away. I did notice they carry extras on the side of the drum.
These guys are truly amazing and it's a shame some videographer felt the need to over produce this presentation. Part of what makes a performance like this truly wonderful is the synchronicity and coordination between the players. It was precisely in those moments that the producer decided that a close up, a sweeping pan or a shot from the end of the line where all you could see was a row of sticks flailing about was the appropriate shot. Kudos to the corps for a fantastic performance. Shame on you to the producer of this video for thinking your artistic merit was more important than that of the performers.
Unfortunately, you see the same in the DCA and DCI videos produced today. Drum solos (as we knew them) were a feature of the percussion line at one time. Now, when the line plays, the cameras pan to some insignificant movement of the hornline or flag dancers, thus missing the visual stickwork and performance of the snarelines. They should run a course on videoing drum corps shows, or at least have a fact sheet for each performing corps noting what and where a feature should be prominent in the video.....otherwise just a waste and a show if artistic camera editor's ego.
Look on YT for their other performances with NO artistic producing at all. To me, they are the best I have ever seen. I've watched all their YT videos.
You are absolutely right. The same thing happens in figure skating. The people who really care want to see the full picture, but videographers feel compelled to add close-ups because they do not understand the aesthetic!
Look at it this way, had it not been for the person taking the video, you would have had NOTHING to watch. A 'modicum' of gratitude goes a long way. 'I' enjoyed the video very much, considering I wasn't fortunate enough to attend the live performance.
wow mouth is still on the floor is total amazement. this is teamwork at its finest. i didnt think it could get any better until the fireworks came. mouth still on the floor. excellence
So, I have been following Top Secret even when I was a young percussionist. One thing that has always made me wonder is this. Have they ever done just a Bass Drummer vs Bass Drummer battle? I'ld love to see that. Even Top Secret's Bass line is better than many snare lines!
@@alexreid4131 timestamp on dropped stick plz. I was mentally part of the crew until they started to pass around sticks. Imagine throwing a sh!tty stick there, resulting in your mate not able to beat his drum. the shame in front of thousands..
4:32 mmm!....let the games begin!......the amazing climatic skills take over..... Thank you! Youre amazing percussionists! You inspire me when I hear you play and it heals many parts of me. Its drum therapy to my heart & spirit. Much Love Much Light Namaste 💜🐬💙🐎💚🐲💛🐉❤ 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This must take endless hours of training and practicing but also a lot of innate ability. Their precision is like an atomic clock. They would also make great guards for Buckingham Palace, never losing their professional composure.
In 1979 I was a freshman in high school.. I learned marching band quick..We went to festival of states national tournament and placed second in the, nation. The Golden Regiment from a small town called Travelers Rest S.C. I can say I know the hard work and hours of repetitive practice it takes to get to the level these guys make look simple...awesome job...daaammm
Say what you want? This is the 2016 rendition of Top Secret and another mind blowing great show of drumming and the true art of percussion excitement. Now hold on I for can not wait to see what they are planning for 2017 and their constant new ideas for a new new new 2017 show full of surprises and above all crowd pleasing entertainment. Without a doubt they have it I still believe even 2017 will be better and better.
