+you suck the problem is that volvo trucks are for rookies who cant drive. such as urself. your conventional trucks look like tiny cars that get no respect. even a child knows what a classic truck looks like before he can even say daddy. your problem is u wouldnt know the first thing about driving a classic pete. and u said it....they look like trains..

BigTymin while the classics look nice, they are technological relics. The paccar brands even realized this and are slowly copying the Volvo - aerodynamics, driver comfort, ease of operation, fuel economy, emissions, etc.

in the uk we have 460 500 540 610 750 bph my dad pulls 44 ton with a 460 without the t cab nonsense it's probably a lot lighter and it pulls like a train in the UK we have 2 seats leather and a bet with 2 cupboard under 1 fridge one storage we have a few overhead lockers which are great 😄😄😄😄

+Aled Morris we get 600hp dd15 as well rare since mostly the usa has more ground to clear so comfort is more important then hp unless you live up north with the hills. i do envy the hp euro trucks get but you have to envy us for the interior space. most usa trucks are small Apartments

Volvo in America isn't even Volvo. They own Mack and so Mach actually builds the trucks, Volvo puts their name on it. Before integrated electronic engines, Volvo trucks had the standard Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine, capable of 600 HP and 2,000 ft-lbs of torque. Once emissions became crucial, Volvo switched to the Cummins ISX engine which was rated at 450 HP and just under 1800 ft-lbs of torque. In 2010, Volvo developed the D13 engine (which is not to be confused with the DD13 made by Detroit Diesel). rated 445 HP and 1650 ft-lbs of torque, which is impressive but compared to other brands like Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar and Cummins, is not very good. Not even that, but their transmissions also. Volvo used to run Eaton Fuller which made 8, 10, 13, 15 deep reduction, and 18 speed transmissions. In 2013 Volvo cut Eaton Fuller and developed the I-shift 12 speed automated transmission, which is even worse. An Eaton Fuller 13 speed roadranger makes far greater torque than the I-shift, and the DD16 engine produces 650 HP and 2,200 ft-lbs torque. being a regen system, I have no clue how they do it because those numbers for engines haven't been seen since caterpillar's 3406e which stopped production in the late 1990's. Volvo's set up is not bad but compared to other manufacturers, it is not a prime semi truck

+Mitch S The I shift was introduced in 2001 here in EU... You guys don't get the current Volvo tech. I drive the Euro 6 Volvo FH, so I know it, and I saw several interior parts in this VNL from the old Euro 5 Volvo truck. Current I-Shift is a double-cluch 12speed gearbox that has no rivals, preiod.

Believe me, the D13/I-shift combo has plenty of rivals in the heavy-duty truck industry. Eaton Fuller's 13 and 15 speed transmissions blow the I-shift out of the water. The only reason the I-shift is more preferred is because of comfort and their ability to control the driver's actions via computer. as far as pulling goes, they are complete crap. a DD16 engine with an Eaton Fuller 13 speed will easily pull better than the D13 with an I-shift
