I've wanted one of these since 2009 but it was financially out of reach. Bought a new sportsman in 2012 because it was cheap but never stopped thinking about the grizzly. Now they are even better then before.
Hell yeah, nice bikes. I have a 2012 Grizzly 550 and I just did 27” Zillas with an EPI Purple spring, .5mm shim mod, Gates G-force CVT belt, and a UNI air filter. The bike really woke up on the low end and mid range power. It’s a great trail bike! Wish I could post a picture of it. But you definitely got some good looking bikes! That new one must be hella nice to ride. 🤘
I have an '09 700 EPS, hunter green like yours. I've put just shy of 5000 miles on it without a hiccup - and I run that bad boy! Spent many hours in higher rpms on trails in Rose City Michigan. As long as you do the maintenance and keep up on oil changes or even change them a little more frequently given how hard you ride, these machines are built to last. Love my Grizzly. Just started to hear a little clicking on the rear right CV joint when making sharp turns so I'm going to put a new pair on. Other than that, this machine has been a dream come true for this ATV enthusiast. Great comparative video. You keep your shit clean and in good shape too. Cheers!
Both real nice bikes!! You keep your machine in fantastic condition. Your 9 year old machine looks better than some 1 or 2 year old machines i've seen around. I used to have a 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660. Bought it brand new.. . my girlfriend at the time cosigned for me. Paid more than 3/4's of it off. We broke up and she showed up at my house about 6 month after our split with the police and got "Her" ATV back as her name was on the loan. I was not happy, but it was a small price to pay to cut that bitch loose. (on a side note, she used to constantly harp on me about drinking and partying... well about a year after our breakup, I read in the paper that she got a DWI... I'd be lying if I said i didn't find some humor in this... ). Anyways... Both awesome machines!!! Grizzly is my favorite single Cyl ATV. I have been looking at getting a new one, but I think I am going to go with a V-Twin. The Can-Am's make a real nice machine. I always have my eye out for a used grizz though.
Congrats on your new Grizzly, it's a good looking machine. Definitely looks like you're respectful of and take care of your equipment. Thanks for the video.
+mustang1191 Thank you ! If you treat a Yamaha good , wash and maintain it , a Yamaha wont let you down , or leave you stranded.. Thanks for watching !
Got the same '07 as you have...it's been a very good ATV...a few sets of brakes, oil changes and dif oil changes it still runs like it did the day I bought it.
Your welcome, I've owned 4 Grizzlys so far , and all have given me excellent reliability. Better yet , They are a Blast to ride , and very comfortable. Thanks for watching!
Almost have 1700 miles on it at this time, with absolutely no issues of course. So far I added a KFI Stealth 2500 winch, ITP Hurricane wheels with Kenda Bear Claw tires, Symtec dual zone hand/thumb warmers, Nomad storage truck and passenger foot pegs. My wife has an 08 Grizzly 450 SE, thats a great machine as well.
@@POHLHAMMER Unfortunately the stator went out on the Grizzly 700 recently with 1,800 + miles/180 hours. According to what I have read online, stator failure was common on the 07-08 Grizzly 700's due to the stator overheating. Apparently they fixed the issue by adding an oil cooling line to the outside of the stator cover starting in 09. Did you have stator problems with your first gen Grizzly?
Cool vidz man! I'm buying your same quad in a few weeks. I had an 11 grizz 550 loved that machine but I sold it this week and looking forward to a new 16' 700 eps. I feel the same way you do about yamahas reliability and how it's un matched by the other atv companies.
Update. A month ago I purchased a blue 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 700 FI with EPS. It has 1,800 miles and 215 hours. Super excited about it! It’s in pretty good shape. Very little to no rust on it. It does have some light scratches and scuff marks on the plastics. Any idea on what would work to take them out without damaging the plastics?
Thanks this helps a lot I'm looking for an ATV at the moment. I know I like Yamaha or Honda and I saw a 2004 for sale. But I think Ill skip it and search for 2007 and up. Its hard to find good youtube content on ATVs, its all paid advertisements.
Looking at picking up a 2007 grizz with a fresh rebuild from the dealership, new clutches and new belts. Has 8500km on the odo. Anything specific to look out for on these older units?
Very Nice ! keep the salt off it , plowing snow tends to rust them up quicker. I use gun oil to keep mine sealed up and prevent corrosion. You are gonna love it ! I suggest switching to sythetic oils in motor and diffs , after you break it in.
Hey Pohlhammer. Did your 2007 have the stator failure I've read about? I have an 07 too and am thinking about doing the upgrade before it fails, but I don't really want to.
2 really really nice looking quads man!! the old 07 is in great shape looks new! I was looking at a 2015 grizz today in red I fell in love with it. if and when I get another one it will definetly be a grizzly 700. good videos man
This is going to be my next bike. I owned a Polaris 850 XP last year and while I really liked it and had no issues with it I couldn't shake the Polaris stigma and traded it off for a motorbike. The 16 Grizz is the one I'm buying next
BoB cAt I have been dieing to get it up north , and open it up. Finally have almost 20 hours on it , and starting to pound it a little harder. YES it feels GREAT , and has more pep in its step over my 2007. I will post a top speed video soon !
now see as far as visual attractiveness i prefer the previous look compared to the 2016, i waited until the 2016 hit the showroom floor, then once i got a good look at them i ran right out and bought a 2015 because i knew it was my last chance to own a brand new one when they were still real nice looking, not that this is ugly or anything, i just like the 2015 better
thanks buddy, and again im not putting down your ride shes a beaut, but the previous body style just speaks to me, know what i mean, this is my first yamaha im switching from honda, ive been a honda guy my whole life, and ill tell ya this things a cadillac in the trails.i work away and bought a grizzly based on videos and reviews, i never seen one in person when i called up yamaha and had them deliver a 2015 700 grizz to my house, i still had a month and a half away before i got to come home and see it for the first time, it was pretty exciting, i got home and seen it on july 15th for the first time. it was truly a great day
+01hondascott I still remember the day I got my first 2003 Grizzly 660 one fall day 2002 ,, My 2007 700 ,(FIRST GUY TO HAVE POWER STEERING) one fall day in 2006 ,, And I definitely will always remember picking up my 2016 Grizzly Monster, Just like the first day a met my Wife !
sadly i left to go back to work on august 14th, and i have been out here ever since, so i only got to put a little under 70 kilometers on it, shes not even really broke in yet, we just finished up a contract though 3 days ago, im booking my ticket today i think, and am heading home for a while probably till after christmas, so ill put some kilometers on her then, i cant wait, just last night i was looking at pictures my dad took for me the day it got delivered.
I have a 2012 650 grizz and its indestructible. Even drove it through the back of the barn by mistake and the barn fell down and the quad had a scratch hahaha
Nope. Even my 450 is super hard to pull start though. I had a 660 , and in cold weather I couldn't pull it. Im not a huge guy , but certainly not weak. lol. I have never been left stranded on any on my 6 Grizzly's over the last 20 yrs. I do carry a small lithium jump pack in my UTV and Grizzly 700 just in case of a dead battery. Thanks for watching!
I can tell you take care of your bikes, thats nice to see. that 07 looks almost bran new ! I have a 08 700 and it hasn't given me a moments problem. Good video, love the 2016 too, lots of good upgrades.
Dude.....what a....what the.....why tha.....that "old" quad looks as good as the new....fantastic care....and almost a reason not to buy the 16. Hats off....
On the new Grizzly did you up-grade your clutch do to the bigger tires ? And if you didn't do you feel any lag or strain on your clutch or loss of power ? thank you for posting this video helps out a lot good job !
I did not do any clutch work to my new 2016, although my brother added a shim and lighter wieghts into the 2007 , and he likes how it feels now , more snappy. I do notice a difference with the larger tires , a bit more sluggish, but still rides great , with plenty of torque. I might try a shim to help with lower end grunt.
that's alright if you're not worried about top end performance lol. I want to try to balance the power all across the spectrum. have a nice day , And thanks for the info.
Nice video man I was looking one just like your video I have a 2011 grizzly 700 love it but wife rides it now I'm going to get a a 2016 grizzly 700 in about 3 months have fun with your new grizzly looks sexy I like it I'll going to get the red or blue
How are these two Grizzlies doing today? I have an 02 Grizzly 660 which I really like but I’d really like to get an 07-08 Grizzly 700 for the fuel injection and power steering. Hopefully someday..
Both still running great ! My brother owns the 2007 , and he rides it hard. Hopefully one day you'll get a upgrade ! I had a 660 too. Was my first Grizz. Great machine !
@@POHLHAMMER Sweet! Thanks for the reply! They’re are other great ATV’s out there but in my opinion the Grizzly is the best overall package on the market. Once you have a Grizzly you won’t want anything else. 👍
@@POHLHAMMER Also I wanted to ask since you’ve owned a 660 and two 700’s, did you notice much difference in the driving characteristics between the three? I know the 660 can feel a little tippy and top heavy at times. Do the 700’s feel less that way? If I remember right I heard there was some things done on the 700 to keep the weight even lower down in the frame so that it would feel less tippy and top heavy.
I'm looking at getting a 2014 Yamaha Grizzly 550 because it's been in the dealership for 2 years and they lowered the price quite a bit but I don't know if it's worth it considering how much was done too the 2015/2016's
My Buddy just bought that same quad , becouse if the deal... It is still a badass machine , if you can live without some bells and whistles... Should have plenty of power for most situations.. The new Grizz will handle a little better , and go a little faster down the trail .. but as far as technical trails , that 550 will be equal.
+- POHLHAMMER They even threw in aftermarket tires and rims and they're only asking $6900 u.s. At first they wanted $7878 and no way that was gonna happen, could of gotten a new Kodiak special edition for $1000 more
@@POHLHAMMER Oh alright. Must've been a bad batch of piston rings or something that went into those 708's. I dont know for sure, haven't done a lot of research on those engines, just remember seeing lots of people complaining about them.
It's a catch 22... It makes more power than the 686 , but ya it worries me a tad. Mines had the top end fix , and has been a solid machine. Knock on wood. I currently have 3 Grizzly's, and have owned 6. NONE have ever failed me. YAMAHA💙 for life 🤘!
@@POHLHAMMER same here Yamaha for life , I have a 2015 with a bit over 9000km and is still going strong . I was wondering because I had a few buddies with the 708 cc and they burned oil and a couple of them blew the engine.
+julian saunders go easy on throttle ,, go up and down with rpms while riding and dont hold it at a constant speed for long periods of time. Get it warm , let it cool all the way , repeat often. change to synthetic oils in motor and diffs after about 400 miles. after about 15 hours and 400 miles ,,,, nail it !! ENJOY ! You just bought the BEST !
Well the "original" Grizzly was a 600 cc introduced in 1998 and began the "big bore war" as it was the first ATV with more than 500 cc. The 2016 would be the G4 (Corvette fans will get that).
Thats fast , Are sure it was not 91Kph ? Sometimes the dash gets messed with , and they get set to KPH... If not , than he must have had work done to it... The new 2016 Grizzly does about 65-67 mph stock.
I've got a 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 (parallel twin 700cc) and I would love to see Yamaha put that engine in the grizzly and Raptor. Would get a nice hp increase and it sounds BEAST. Always been a huge fan of Yamaha, would just like to see more hp from them in the atv area to compete with those garbage polaris.
It could be your belt , or clutch sheeves are wore a bit... I think 95vrs99 is no big deal. Did the noise go away after you cleaned and regreased clutch ?
They actually wear toward the tight side. The first sign they needed adjusted on mine was the engine shutting off right after being started. But then starting and running fine after that. After I adjusted them, there was a noticeable power increase, and better starting, running. Very nice bikes, btw
+David Gillaspie Sr thanks ,, I will look into it , my brother owns it now ,, and it does stall once in awhile right after starting.... thanks for watching !
Yeah haha couldn't even tell the differences at first after the video the new plastics make it look a lot more modern and aggressive and the new tail light looks a lot cleaner! How's the bike so far and why do you like the green?
Yeah the green looks great. I'm more of a Can Am guy mostly for the speed like you said in the video, but the new Yamaha's are really nice I've been looking into getting a motorcycle from them like an r6!
+THE POHLHAMMER LOL......... i wasnt saying your Yami the ITPs look good lol....i mean instead of the stock tires they have on them on the showroom floor.
+coolster471 You are not alone ,, alot of guys prefer it ... But everyone I know who buys a 16 ,, falls in love with it quickly.. I liked it more right away.. Any 700 Grizz from 2007-2016 is a TOP LEVEL machine.. Thanks for Watching !
+- POHLHAMMER yea I've always thought the grizzlys are the best type of quad you can buy. alot of guys prefer can am or polaris because of they're speed but I like yamaha because of the low end power and the torque they have. especially the 4x4 system
coolster471 Track speed , and strait line speed are two totally different things, and IMO the Grizzly will KILL any Can Am or Polaris Utility on the race track.. Only in drag racing will they beat Yamaha..
pohlhammer If funny how that works, tight turned trails, with rocks and tree roots slow the big guys down and its better to have an old big bear 250 two wheel drive. that big bear kicks ass on tight trails. for me its the whole package, keep the tight trails for the kids, I like brute force and sometimes I can't get enough of that. And I ain't really that fast. The sound of a good running twin is well worth it. Mind I said good running.
No offence dude, but I'm not digging the new 700! I think your 07 is a much better style. Also you should have got a can am outlander 800 or 1K. There's and even bigger difference.
The old one is nice too , I agree... As for buying Can Am vrs Yamaha ,, its a no brainer for me , quality over quantity, pure and simple.... Amoungest many other reasons...But to each thier own, Thanks for watching !
Not sure what you mean ? They don't shift gears , but use a CVT ? Of course. If I mentioned shifting in this video , than I am sure I was referring to shifting from Park to High , or to Reverse or Low , ect... That is shifting into a gear , then CVT does its thing. Thanks for watching!
+Cody Hackl I wouldn't think so there's more utility/work horses atvs then any other kind also you compare any 1000cc too for example a grizzly 700 I think it's pretty obvious
+Kurtis Madeiros I'm comparing yamaha's alpha male to the polaris. just so happens the polaris has 300 more cc's. Time for yamaha to bring the grunt! I think most people hit the trials and mud holes with these even if they are "utility." watching reviews and comparisons and all they show are these on trails or hammering through a water hole. i'll buy a mule if i want true utility.
+Cody Hackl Quality over quantity, Polaris may have 300 cc's more but the price off a grizzly will go into fixing a Polaris, also no shit obviously nobody wants to watch somebody do farm work or pull a trailer around
+Bill Marshall Thanks ! I do my best to preserve my machines ,, and all three of my Grizzlys have given me great reliability in return. Ride Hard ,, bury em deep ,, But do the maintence , and clean the mud out of the cracks when done , and these things last a long time.. Watch my washing tips video to see why my old 2007 looked better than alot of guys 2012s. Thanks for watching !
