It's ironic considering a lot of them are "mumble" rappers but this is the cypher where i focus most on the lyrics. They're just having fun and you can hear that.
They all morphed out of being mumble rappers denzel was the only one who was never a mumble rapper 21 became a lyrical rapper uzi became a rockstar and yachty became too unique to be a mumble rapper its fuckin fascinating to look back on
@Shaqs Slong freestyle can be a penned verse. Off the dome is what you're thinking of. Even still man a freestyle has to have that swagger and confidence. 21 did not sound very confident in his lines. Like I said I fuck with his music but this was shit.
The thing that makes this the best XXL freshman class is the pure energy and chemistry. Not only that but the fact that all of these artists are still very relevant today
i think this shows one of 2 ways these cyphers should be handled, either every artist spits hard bars like its a competition, or like this where everyone is having fun
Just goes to show how mumble rap was a conscious artistic movement and reaction against old heads saying what could and could not be hip hop. These dudes can all actually rap if they choose to, they just chose not to
Naw some of them can rap at an entry level at best. There's a reason there is a difference between what makes a rapper and a MC. If you had real lyricists on an it they'd all have drowned
Are you kidding me Denzel Curry's verse quite literally smashed everybody else's verse on this like it legit felt like nobody else knew WTF to say while Denzel Curry came ready to unload lol 🤣🤣🤣
People hated that cypher when it first came out. I wish you could filter that video for old comments. It aged well alongside the artists still being hot with lots of fans. So yea it's going to stay popular.
Yr stupid af this cypher got a lot of love stop spreading cap dumbass. That’s why it’s the most popular xxl video stop acting like all the views just recently no it been great
@@RyBrownxxl freshman is for underground rappers. Why would he go on a annual list of rappers is if the excuse for the bad verse is the fact that he isn't a rapper.
Absolute worse take. 21 has improved a lot and is a good rapper but this cypher/verse is fucking TRASH. Didn’t take it serious in the best way is the lamest excuse to hype someone up.
i think this was really needed in rap because prior to this there was too many old heads saying “these new gen rappers aren’t trying and it’s not deep” this showed the people who think that way that they were right, it’s not that deep, but it’s fun though. It sparked an era in rap which is unmatched in my opinion where everyone was just doing whatever and having fun, some of it was ass but they had fun doing it and got a bag so who cares, it’s also left rap in a better spot after it where lyrics aren’t as important and artists of today prioritise the sound which is great
The last group of bonafide artists before all the bedroom producers flooded the music market with subpar sound & artists. Now its every other freaking week, "bro have you heard that new song by Hashana Whosyomama." or whatever the hell, like we're all supposed to know who tf that is.
This is almost inarguably the best cypher of all time BUT denzel genuinely shined the most and has proved in the years since that he is the BEST to come out of that class
I remember my first time watching the cypher i was in my 8th grade math class sitting beside the teachers desk and i rewatched it like 10 times in that class period
Saka was Class in that match tbh he deserves his plaudits and I'm a Chelsea fan and on that note it's been a minute since this Channel gave us a Chelsea hate video
