About to install an 8" bass tube in my wife's CR-V with the help of this video. Trying to just fill out the stock profile with some 90s style thump. I'm surprisingly pleased with how good the car sounds with just Amazon prime branded dynamat installed (it's bright blue and looks hilarious), so I'm looking forward to the tube and some 6.5" 2-ways up front. Hoping to not have to in-line amp those 🤞

Just FYI, Metra/Axxess now makes a plug in kit to get line level outputs so no radio splicing/cutting required, its plug and play. Axxess AXLOC-HN3, works with this gen CRV as long as you don't have the factory sub. Also includes remote gain/bass knob.
what i found after installing the subwoofer is the ANC system doesnt like the aftermarket stereo system and you would (in my case), experience a hum from the sub when your RPM is over 2000. The solution is to unplug the cable from the A5 box, which is located on the passenger side, right side of glove box (requires a little bit of removing the trims and some screws, the box itself is a small, silver color box). Then the bass would work like normally but in exchange of a little more road noise. Hope this doesn't happen to you.
Good job! I have the 2018 model and I was curious on how to find the speaker outputs. Plus showing that the LC2 you are using converts the speaker outputs to rca. And that it also has a remote output to turn your amp on and off.. (I just installed a kicker cxa 800.1 amp to my car and I did not need that lc2 line converter. My amp has a high speaker input that I converted from the speaker wire to rca connectórs.. And for my remote on, I just jumped into the wire from the cigarette lighter socket to the rem on my amp and now mine has bass like yours.)
The LC2i is a great piece of hardware. I highly recommend it to anybody who has to keep their stock head unit for other functions of the vehicle to continue to work. Thank you for watching!
You could’ve done this without pulling the radio, just saying. Idk if it would be easier or not, but at least you wouldn’t be dealing with the sensitive electronics. Since you’re using that LC2i adapter you can go right off the rear door speakers
The picture on your dash, you should scan and save it digitally and put it as a wallpaper on the radio. So you would not need that picture over there anymore. It would be shown on the background on the radio.
Why did you wire it into the front speakers instead of the rear speakers? Just curious as I’ve seen others that have recommended the rear speakers. I do notice that with the factory system, the front speakers get more power and I currently have to fade towards the rear to even out the sound. Could you share your equalizer settings after the sub install?

Great video, Robert. Thanks for doing it. Just one question, the head unit also has a dedicated control for Subwoofer level. Is it possible to locate the factory sub and just tap onto the original audio signal wire going into the factory sub and follow the rest of the steps to connect to the battery/fuse box?
Hey Mario, did you ever get any information on this? I am really tempted to try and add a factory sub to my 2019. One thing I am curious about is the ability to get the factory radio to recognize that there is now a factory sub.
This helped me figure out where I'm going to put things. It's there enough room for the lc2i when the seats are folded down? I was originally going to put my amps there but I didn't realize the seats go down when folded. Be great to put my dsp under there too
Hey man. Did what you said to the t and my warning lights wont go away. Ibe disconnected battery fir 30 mins to no avail, did the reboot on the radio to also no avail. The power steering seems to be weak too but i can still drive the car like normal. What gives? Im experienced in system installs and have never seen an issue like this before.
I added an amp but am not sure where to get a good grounding point. Currently I have it grounded to a bolt on the rear seats. Where did you ground your amp to?
Right behind the rear seat near the trunk is carpeted board with 2 latch points. If you unsrew those out and pull the board up, there should be a factory ground point towards the middle/driver passenger back side seat. That is where I grounded my amp when I did my install.
The LC2i has a built in remote sensing feature, where it will turn on whenever sound is detected through the signal wires. So I ran the remote power from the LC2i to the amp. It should be in the wiring diagram photo in the video. Let me know if you have any more questions and thank you so much for watching!
I had someone installing an amp and bass box. Now my interface won’t turn on at all & my automatic shutoff has a problem . Also my front usb ports won’t charge my phone . Could it be a fuse? I’ve been trying to figure it out but cannot please help
If you are gonna run 0 gauge, go straight to the battery. Running it to the fuse box, the power wire goiñg to that fuse box is way smaller than the 0 gauge you plan to use.
There is an ANC control box on the side of the glove box near the door. This is called Active Noise Control and it sends a humming low sound to the speakers to drown out road noise. If you unplug it, it will disable the ANC and there should be more noise from the subs.

Damn, you tore that thing apart… I just want a balanced sound profile. I don’t need to shake mirrors or let the block hear me. I’m trying to ride stealthy but my 2020 Honda CRV EX-L has the worst sound system I’ve ever heard. Sounds like there’s no speakers in the back. Only hear the front two speakers and I have practically NO BASS… I don’t understand because technology has never been better… but my sound profile is like two computer speakers
You can get a bass knob. And after hiding everything under the back seat, no one will ever notice you have booming bass system. Pus with a bass knob you can adjust how much bass boom you want from a small amount to big booming bass.
