This is the new facelift 2018 BMW 4 Series Coupe in 420d M Sport guise. Powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine, this 4 Series produces 190hp and 400Nm of torque. That is enough for 0-62 mph in 7.3 seconds, with a manual transmission, and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. 62.8 MPG combined is claimed.
Changes to the bodywork and new 19 inch alloy wheels are a given, but substantial alterations have also been made to the chassis. New suspension settings, anti-roll bars, and camber gives the 2018 BMW 4 Series even more stability.
The interior now features the 6th generation of BMW iDrive touchscreen infotainment system. Apple CarPlay is optional. A 445 litre boot is one of the larges in its class.
The 2018 BMW 4 Series goes on sale this month costing from £29,554.

Cars like BMW are easy to critique, just talk about the cost of options. That said, I think the 4 series is the best Beemer after the 6 series.

Such a pretty car, I think the Gran Coupe version is a little nicer and more useful with its four passenger doors and hatchback.

Love the Gran Coupe! We were going to film with it for this shoot, but went for the 420d instead. I'm sure we will get the updated model in for a road test in the near future.

Would you say the colour coming through on the video is near enough what you saw with your own eyes? I've looked at loads of pictures of it and it seems to be slightly different in each one! Looks great from where I am

+onicholls95 The blue changes in the light. What you see on camera is in bright sunshine, but it does appear a darker shade in the shadows. Beautiful colour.

Do you think the 420d coupe drives better than the standard saloon or is it mainly a styling exercise? I like the coupe's folding rear seats which are rare on the saloon (not standard fit). I'd love another 320d, but is it better to stick with petrol 320i for low mileage use given diesel bad publicity and potential repair bills?

+SteveF If you aren't continuously on a motorway I'd say stick with petrol. Yes, 4 series chassis is tuned for sharper response than the 3 series.

Thanks for the video! The car looks amazing. I'm thinking of getting one too! I'm getting mixed messages regarding the dashboard refresh, some dashboards have not been refreshed whereas some are (e.g. this one). Do you have any information on when the dashboard refreshed will be included in the new models?

When you say dashboard, what part of it do you mean? The instruments, iDrive, or the aluminium carbon trim?

The Multifunction Instrument Display is an optional extra that can be ordered with the 2018 4 Series.

I never understand why BMW uses manual hand brakes on anything below a 5 series. It kinda pisses me off, it's 2018.
