Thank you! I'm a mechanic and you just saved me a lot of diagnosis time. Also a 2017 Pacifica, however, the junction block was two separate blocks, each a bit different. And where the wires in your connectors seemed to be strained, mine did not. I opened the junction blocks to examine and found no issues. After simply unlpugging and replugging all the connectors, the problem went away. I hosed everything in contact cleaner to be sure. I will be ordering the contacts anyway, just in case. But, for now, the issue seems to have been dirty contacts (we are dealing with tolerances in the micro ohm range) and literally unplugging the device seems to have been the solution.
Thank you! This video helped us solve an issue where the Pacifica would not allow us to shift from park to drive, would stall from high speeds. Chrysler had no idea how to fix the issue and told us it was an issue with the wiring harness?? We forwarded this video to the Chrysler service rep and they had the connectors replaced. This fixed our issue.
Woohoo you're a hero!!! We have been getting shifter issues for a while...our Chrysler dealer did diagnose the CAN communication issues, but if I recall correctly they wanted to charge around $1900 to replace the wires etc... thanks to this video, we located the connector assembly in the glove compartment like you showed.. well guess what, anytime that "Service Shifter" warning would pop up when we turn the van on, I would just open the glove compartment and smack that assembly once and suddenly everything would work. Seems like there's an initial connection check and if it isn't perfect, it throws the error. This got us by for quite some time. Now, it seems the issue pops up a bit more frequently so we'll probably either clean and re-seat the contacts, and if that doesn't work then buy the green housing and connectors and re-crimp everything. Either way you saved us a lot of headache and money...can't thank you enough!
Update: I tried re seating and cleaning, it didn’t help. Then, I just bought the green enclosure without re crimping any connectors. Problem seems to be solved, thank you for saving us $1900! As a side note, on some forum someone did mention that it appears that green enclosure can have one of the solder joints crack, which might have been the culprit.
@@Coolarj10 hey we are having the same issue. When you say recrimp the connectors, are you cutting the wires and then reseating them on the star connector?
This video helped me with same problem i had, and i fix the problem, but no need to replace anything just need to do little soldering on pcb because are cracked
Thanks for the video, this sounds like exactly what's going on with my Pacifica! How do you unplug the connectors from the green star connector unit? Do you need a special tool?
This sounds like exactly what's going on with my 2017 Pacifica! Had it for a year and it's been in the ship for about 4 months of that year. No one can figure it out. And since they can't replicate the issue it just sits.
I have been having this issue with my Chrysler Pacifica since October 2022. We’ve taken it to the shop 3 times already and they can’t fix. They are waiting for me to authorize them to take a part my hood because they found feces but I don’t think that’s it and they are trying to charge $1900. I want to speak to the technician to talk about this. I’m hoping this is what it is.
Can the “service airbag system” message be caused by this? I’ve had a lot of weird electrical issues (doors, screen, camera, shifter, power surges, transmission jerking, ignition issues, interior brightness adjustment doesn’t work, trunk will beep 40 times straight). Going to check the connection and clean.
My 17 has been at the mechanic for over a month now. We may have two issues at play, but according to the mechanic: "we get a timing code and then the bus drops out"
Pretty sure im having this going on my 2019. It has now been in the dealler 2 times now because the shiter does not work or illuminate. And it is now doing it again.
Do you have a part number for the star connector? Im fighting with the dealer now trying to tell them this is my problem yet they cant seen to replicate the issue and troubleshoot where it is. They dont seem to want to listen to me.
Before you even do that, just pull out the wires from the connectors and spray it with contact cleaner, then push them back in to see if that eliminates the problem
I have a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. I zoomed in on the video and got these parts numbers. I just ordered these parts. Let’s hope they work. Part # from Mouser: 571-2-2138650-1 571-5-928999-6 From Mopar: CAN Bus Star Connector: 68321746AA
