MAN!! FORD has outdone it with this truck! This is coming from a RAM owner. Ford has always been my 2nd choice but those price tags are way to high for me at the moment.
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS ouch, that's quite spendy for a damn truck. But, having said that, it's not the most shocking I've seen. I have at least one colleague who has spent more than that amount on options on his car you can barely notice! Long live conspicuous consumption.
I see all of the people bitching on here about price, for a truck, and seriously, if a majority of what you use your truck for is highway towing, maybe a camper, with some Motorcycles and quads, and occasionally throwing stuff in the back, helping somebody move, things like that, it's perfect, who the hells wants a nasty ass old beat up truck if they're going to drive cross country, towing shit, picking up the kids from school, driving your daily commute. Some people would like a quiet, semi-comfortable ride, working AC and heat, good brakes, shit like that, if you can afford this why and that's what your truck is for why buy an old pile of shit just because it's a "real truck", real truck meaning it smells like ass, the body looks like it rolled down a mountain, the brakes might stop you within a mile, good luck with having decent AC if the truck even came with it from the factory. But you know, everybody seems to think they know what's best for other people, as if everyone lives exactly like they do. This truck is perfect for a lot of buyers.
I think Ford has finally done a great all around job on the new 17's. I drove a friend of mine's 2011 f250 super duty with the diesel and (it was/is tuned heavily) but the fords have much better throttle response than the GM's do. Not sure why GM programs the slow throttle response on the duramax. Once I tuned my gm the throttle was way more responsive and acted completely different than the stock tune. (running the heavy tow tune and regular driving). I have a really good friend who is a former Ford engineer and he said they have been working on this 17' model since around 2008 ish. Evidently their was a lot of political hoops to go through to just let the engineers build a completely new diesel truck. I like the aluminum bodies simply because they won't rust as well and it makes perfect sense to reinvest the weight back into chassis upgrades to handle the load better. Great review as usual.
I have this truck in same color and king ranch too. All i can say is this is a beautiful thing fellas. I know its expensive but it sure is nice. Mine tows up to 21,500 5th wheel towing. I tow my 19,000lb 5th wheel toyhauler and it does so very well. This is a towing beast. Like a cadillac but its a truck. Sound system is killer too. I hear hp is 440 and torque is 925 foot lbs. it feels like you are going 30mph when going 55. Feels like 55mph when going 75-80 mph. Got mine used with 60k miles on it.
I was in the same exact truck today, except it had the vista glass roof and a spray in bed liner. I like the standard moonroof that I have in my 2015 F250 Lariat Crew Cab Diesel better. The 2017 is an awesome truck. The 2017 Super Duty just won the Motor Trend truck of the year for the first time ever. We will see how the aluminum body will hold up long term. Hopefully no galvanic corrosion issues like on the Explorers and Mustangs.
God, such a super detailed review. Im sick of watching review videos thats like 30 minutes long but provide hardly any info. Subscribing just off that alone.
Beautiful truck, I have always liked the King Ranch trucks. I am glad you mentioned payload at the end, was really hoping you would show the sticker on the door pillar for the payload of that specific truck. All those options on the 250 can't leave much for payload. It is almost a waste to have that 6.7L but not have the payload to actually hookup to the trailers that engine is capable of pulling.
Great info,Thanks, will watch more of your videos . BTW if people have sticker shock @$75 G ,convert to Canadian =$98G plus 12% taxes ,plus Diesel is 4.62/ gal. We need a tax revolution up here!
Its absolutely lovely looking truck. Looks like Ford hit a home run. The things that scare me are the huge headlights and tail lights, I bet those cost a fortune to replace. I looked at one these trucks at the dealership a while back and it was put together horribly, with body panels not aligning correctly, doors didn't align correctly, interior parts looked sloppy. But when I looked again last week it seemed they got much of those fixed.
Big Truck Big RV how about you try comparing the same trims like Denali vs king ranch? Denali has things like wireless phone charging, noise cancelation, magnetic ride control, THINGS that actually matter to MAN! Meanwhile Fords got all these useless backup camera's that only 16 year olds care about! if you can't backup a truck, you shouldn't own one.
DURAMAX_DELIGHT: I did a review of a maxed out GMC SLT 3500HD with wireless charging and every feature thats on a Denali. Oh, and Mag ride is not available on the HD Denali. also, Denali HD has no insulation improvements over the SLT. Also, Denali competed against Platinum trim and SLT competes against Lariat Ultimate, which is pretty much a King Ranch minus the special colored leather.
I know everyone has their own opinions but mine is "I like some of the features, but you can keep the truck", the last body styles I liked were what I've got (99 F150, and 05 F350) I've already added the '12 mirrors with fold/Ext and a '15 gate with step and '12 handle/camera. Like I said, some points I'd like, not too fond of the whole shebang though....
I saw your Ram 2500 Laramie review and you didn't mention that the rear seat does the same as the Ford, but also offers an option where you can fold it out and it becomes a place for storing a large item or even sleeping on with a sleeping bag (as one of my cousins does with his on hunting trips)
Wonder how come they made the fold in mirrors where the truck has to be running? I really like how my 2016 will fold in without starting the motor. I do like the bed camera. That would defiantly come in handy hooking up a fifth wheel or even a gooseneck trailer for sure. I wonder if that bed camera could be fitted in my 2016 f-250?
how was this truck able to get the Led lights with out having to get the panoramic sunroof? I've tried and tried to build the truck at Ford's website with the Led lights but i have to opt to a more expensive package (6K) which includes the sunroof. :(
Just some things to note : -Make sure you keep those running board hinges washed and lubed or they will seize, especially in the parts of North America that experience weather that promote corrosion issues. -Make sure you order/purchase your truck with those upfitter switches because the factory ones CAN'T be added after the fact. -You didn't actually show that the tailgate unlocks with intelligent access because you already had the truck unlocked from pulling on the door handle after you got out. -Great video!
My parents payed $100k for their house. 4 bedroom two bath with a two car garage. A normal small family home with 3 bedrooms and two baths is probably $60-$90k. My cousin lives in Cali and her house was way over 100k and I think it's only a 2 bedroom 2 bath small little house. So, yes, the don't cost as much as a general house, but they are pretty close.
You mention the 2017 F-250 Power Stroke is quieter than previous years. How does the engine noise compare to the Chevy & Dodge diesel motors? I'm looking for the quietest cab ride in a new 3/4 ton pick up. Thx
David Dwight: From my personal experience, both GM trucks (GMC and Chevy) as well as Ford have bar far the lowest cab noise. The Cummins is an outstanding power plant, but noisier in the cab. that being said, their all pretty dang quiet these days. Less noisy than a gas V8 from just 15yr ago.
Unless they changes things in 2017, to unlock the sensor is on the back of the handle not the outside. The one on the outside is for locking. Do you need to start the truck to adjust the mirrors like you stated or just turn the key forward to the accessory position?
this new front end will grow on me eventually, but I personally think its ugly. I had that fat chrome strip across the front, and I am just generally not overly pleased with the styling. They definitely are more comfortable sitting then the GM offering, but for the time being, my preference is still the RAM offering. I am happy that they finally got push button start and there are a lot of nice other features, just not for me. Nice video.
I'm also waiting to see how the fastening points hold up will they fatigue and start tearing thru, I also saw somewhere where somebody took it thru a carwash and it ripped the antenna off tore the aluminum fender.
Aircraft are made out of aluminum...Pretty sure passenger aircraft move 500+ MPH and don't tear apart in the sky. Also aluminum doesn't rust, it only oxidizes so I can't see it being any worse in the snow/salt than a traditional truck. Chevy is even copying ford and spending nearly a billion$ to upgrade one of their facilities to manufacture aluminum parts. www.autoblog.com/2015/08/05/gm-%20-trucks-aluminum/
that link doesn't work for some reason and it won't let me edit but this is the same article. www.insidercarnews.com/its-official-chevy-will-begin-making-aluminum-silverados/
Got anything that aint over a year old? Not to mention, go look up how an aircraft is made, guess what, they have glass (iirc) in the aluminum... and it is just a coating over a structure, you can also shoot a bird at a airplane at 250mph and not rip though, let me try that on a ford bed eh? Ford did it to stay in class, the trucks were getting too heavy... aluminum corrodes what are you talking about it don't rust. When the vehicle is as thick as a soda can, ya, salt is going to turn it to powder.
It will be interesting to see how the new gen f-250's handle high payload/tongue weight with less leafs then the 16's, hopefully the improved dampening rates will help. I found that GM's 2500HD's would handle a 3k payload with minimal sag but last gen super duty would squat real low with any significant weight in the bed which would make the headlights point sky high going down the highway, and yes I appreciate that you could add air bags to any truck to keep it from squatting but in my opinion a truck should be able to carry its rated max payload without sitting on the bump stops.
Mr Swingline: Actually, the 2017 and the 2016 have the same number of leafs. The new truck isn't supposed to sag as much though. It has a greater rake in the back .
4:30 actually, the auxiliary switches already had a relay pack when they came out you only had 4 channels rated at 30A, 30A, 10A, and 15amp. the 2017 has 6 running 25a, 25a, 25a, 40a, 40a, 25amp
Justin Mccarter: Agreed. I should have clarified that the current 2016 model had them prerelayed as well. I did mention that in several older videos I've made though.
understood, cant be 100% right 100% of the time. i've just started watching your videos last week actually just started showing up on my dads feed at the same time. haven't seen all of them side note, the steel vs allu. bed video liked it, my dad saw it a day later and brought up the possibility that the paving stones in the chevy could have been tumble polished or corners rounded off by a 1/4 inch radius to reduce the scratching to add to your low contrast comment on the picture and lastly, i cant wait to buy that truck used in 5 years looks better than my first used 08 king ranch
Everyday I see trucks from all manufacturers and they are all priced through the roof. Yes , I purchased a loaded 2015 F250 but Im very happy with it . Could have it been cheaper ? Absolutely but it is what it is . It all comes down to supply and demand. They build these things with all these fancy high tech features because it's what the consumer asks for. Someone said I don't like slamming tailgates , I want a space view when parking my truck etc . The manufacturers listen
You don't have to start it to fold the mirrors. Simply press Start/Stop without holding the brake so it turns on Full Power Accessory Mode (which I hate on my F150, it should work on or off).
I sat in the back seat of one of these and with the flat floor they have sacrificed head room and it seemed like you where sitting on the floor the seat was so low
SOMEONE HELP ME! I have tried to find out my specific trucks conventional towing capacity but I can’t find anything. My dealer doesn’t know, the chart on the ford website is incomplete and doesn’t show my configuration. Here is my configuration: 2017 F250, SRW, crew cab, 160” wb, 20” wheels, 6.7 L diesel, and does NOT include the High Capacity Trailer tow package. I have heard everything from 12,900 to 21,000. Anything you can tell me is appreciated. Thank you.
@@ZR1Terror well most people that own an s class are pretty old. at their age they wont be speeding, the car's used more for its safety, comfort and elegant style/looks.
These trucks are getting ridiculously expensive. I own a fully loaded '17 350 KR and MSRP was near 80k!! I couldn't believe it. Knowing how to negotiate from invoice, I was able to get a decent price but I wouldn't do it again. I should have kept my '16. I bought into the 2017 hype. I'm now a 112k invested with lift, King shock upgrade, wheels, tires, lights, cold air, etc. The truck carries my crew and gear just the same as the '16. It just has some nice, more refined features.
TheWiseMan Moore, Oklahoma. About 12mi south of Oklahoma City. Live in a nice neighborhood with a nice pond behind the house. I've caught 15lb catfish out of it. 😁
I don't like how ford it is doing the back windows now with that opening if you slide something in there like a piece of pipe orwood I'd be afraid to break that window but with the old design no problem
sharkheadism some time i find my self carrying someting very long like pipe or pvc trim. that is 18 or 20 feet long and would stick out of the bed way to much and have no support. somethin that i slide through the back window and leave the back end rest on the tail gate
the problem is a lot of the new pickup trucks are losing the functionality that they once had because a lot of people are buying them that they're not using it for work purposes
Smacks Hypnotic: ecoat and power coat are similar but ecoating is a much thinner and lighter layer. Powder coating would be more durable but a little harder to apply.
Wasn't sure if they changed it for the Super Duty or not, so was more curious than anything. Also, thank you for the videos. They are enjoyable, from a fellow engineer and Texan to another.
If I could have any big American Pick Up Truck on the market, this would be the one I'd choose. The sticker price might be a bit of an issue (to say the least), but hey, a man can dream can't he?
