2017 Ford Expedition | an average guy's review 

I have a 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer with the all aluminum 4.6 with 190k, best car I have ever owned. I average around14 in the city. I run Amsoil, this is mandatory on these big trucks as they should add almost 1mpg when you run amsoil. I have seen the results on dyno tests also, better than mobile one. I only change my oil every 75,000 miles or so with amsoil. When it gets low I just put a lil more amsoil in it. Then you get the 15,000 mile mobile 1 filter and your engine should not show any wear, amsoil has this on their website. Also put the amsoil in the tranny and rear diff. mods: iridium plugs, KN air intake and filter, amsoil, middle seat removed, and the 4.6 is 200 lbs lighter and I have the tow package with 3:73 ratio, so it feels "fast" compared to my old 1998 4.6

That interior is definitely dated. Yes minivans suck a$$. Another great review from our favorite average guy. Love it Tony!! Love how that magazine has a Prius next to "most reliable" vehicles on the top right of the cover. Didn't think I'd like mine when I got it but it's the ultimate long distance commuter vehicle. Consistent 50mpg. MPG- 👍🏻 Sex appeal- 👎🏻 Haha.

You should have known it was a v6 before you popped the hood. Drive it normal and you might get 16 mpg.

Believe it or not, I actually had my soul set on a 2014+ Toyota 4Runner Limited. I wanted an offroad worthy SUV that was also my daily driver to work. I drove one and it wasn't the vehicle for me. I slept in it on a small camping trip in the wilderness, and hated the space in the back. Low roof, too short for me to lay down straight, and the floor isn't flat, so I was uncomfortable the whole night. Plus, the 4.0L v6 with the 5-speed was pretty slow & lethargic to drive, but with bad fuel economy as well. Shattered my view of the 4Runner. Decided I needed a slightly bigger SUV, so now I'm considering an Expo with the short wheelbase & 3.5L. Even though it has slightly worse mpg, it has way more power, a 6-speed, more cargo & passenger room, & it can tow! (Plus it costs less than the Toyota) Thanks for the review!

Not understanding the minivan hate. I had two Honda Odysseys and I loved them. Seating for eight people and their belongings, with good handling and decent gas mileage on long highway trips. IMHO, there is no better people mover. Having said that, I just bought a 2017 Expedition EL to replace my '08 Odyssey because I need to tow a trailer. But if a minivan could tow, I'd be all in it.

I had an 07 Expedition Eddie Bauer and my MPG was as 17 most of the time with the old 5.4L V8. In my F-150 I got the same Ecoboost as in this Expedition you tested and I never go under 16 MPG.

None of these have fuel economy , and rather have the reliability and dependability and a place to service it than fancy panties European.suvs with their pretentious interiors, seriously even when I drive a lot I could care less about real wood trim..wth...and the quieter euro crap we can't find parts here or find service dealer ..even if you did .super high priced btw.. and reliability of BMW x5 and Audi q7 both sucked left me stranded... no thanks. Oh and my buddys 2011 rx350 fell apart after 7 years..constant repairs..my 2011 expedition 301k running great...only a leaky oil pressure sensor replaced.

I wouldn't buy this now considering the 2018 model year is coming and that is a fully new model.

Minivan: More space, way better MPG, anyone can park it anywhere, lower price, lower insurance cost, kids/oldies can get in easily, drives like a car. But you are not 'cool'. You'd think if you were mature enough to have kids, you would chose pure no-brainer over cool. But this is America...
