As a salesperson for Ford you should know the Expedition does not have All Wheel Drive (AWD) the 4A is Automatic 4 Wheel Drive. Previous generation it was labeled as A4WD (Note the 4, it's not AWD) and in any case, works differently than a AWD vehicle. The 4 wheels are not continuously engaged & powered as a AWD would be. Instead in 4A or A4WD the front hubs are locked and the wheels are driving the front components (axles, pumpkin & front drive shaft) but the transfer case isn't engaging the front drive shaft. When the system detects slippage (front wheels rotating a different speed from rear for example) then the transfer case engages the drive shaft which is basically turning on the 4WD (hence the Automatic 4 Wheel Drive) temporarily till speed is back in check. So basically it's Automatic because it turns the 4 wheel drive on & off as needed, just like the Automatic headlights
This has got to be one of the smoothest intro videos I’ve seen! I really love the look of the Ford expedition. I am about 6 feet tall I drive a 2018 Toyota Camry LE. It’s a very reliable car but increasingly difficult to get in and out of at 47 years old. I’m fairly healthy, I run I go to the gym I swim. But the joints Keep calling out to me. My car is fully paid off I have the title and I was looking at larger vehicles. My only downfall to getting an expedition would be the loss in fuel economy. I’ve been seeing a lot of videos about the reliability of the Ford expedition.
This is the best towing large SUV on the market, nothing comes close, GM WAY behind. I would like to see more on the actual towing capabilities, but this is a great video. I may buy one if these over a 2018. I currently have an 09 with heavy duty tow package and it is a great vehicle. Nice review!
31:47 My 2000 Toyota Avalon has that and I agree. IT IS AN EXCELLENT feature. It aggravates me to drive cars without that. It shouldn't be expensive to produce.
I have the 2017 ford expedition limited, and after watching this video the only difference I could see between the two was the 4x4 on the platinum, I don't plan on taking mine off road, so I feel pretty good about my Limited. I need to see if mine comes with the petal adjusting option? I am also thrilled anytime I take it for a ride.
Ford has totally left the Expedition behind. The Expedition and Explorer used to be like sisters. This truck with so much potential is still in its 3rd generation! SINCE 2002.
For 2018 they did step it up, especially with the navigator. I do prefer the 2017 looks to the 2018,wish the kept the old styling. Worth noting the 2018 pricing is ridiculous compared to 17 and before, the old design simply didn't cost much to make.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me.
The Expidition is a great vehicle, but it needs a refresh. it looks 10 years old. also, for the price, there is too much cheap plastics in the interior, the Yukon Denali, which this this one is supposed to compete with, looks and feels more premium. the Yukon also actually looks new.
Let's be honest, this expedition looks old as hell, I mean where are the LEDs on this thing? It's looks like a 2005 and five, automotive manufacturers kill me when they add chrome to a car and put $70,000 price tag on it.
shellyfair4 Funny how I remember when whites would laugh at blacks And Mexicans for chrome. Now you fuckers chrome everything!! And charge$$$$ Not even triple dipped chrome!
Question: Does Yukon third row can seat adults ? I thought the 3rd row seats were too low to ground and when adults sits their knees are too high to their chest. Is that not the case? Expedition 3rd row seems good for adult seating. thanks!
I had an ‘05 EB Edition but it died on me. I was in love with it, nothing made me feel manlier than my truck but I lost it, they said they found pieces of metal in the engine tank but I have no idea how they got there, so I’m kinda scared to buy another one but, this is a ‘17 model so maybe this one will be better
amazing how in Canada with the release of the new redesigned model....you can get this very same platinum with 35 km for about a little as 42k -and that is Canadian....good deal..yet the new deign just kills
Has doing these videos allowed you to sell more cars? I was at the dealer yesterday getting my car serviced and I was checking out the new cars in the showroom. They had a Mustang that was Shelby. It was so sweet.
I don't do the videos to sell cars, but I did sell the 2017 Shelby GT350 I have a review of because of the channel. Every now and then people will recognize me in the dealership from some video but I can't say that i've sold a lot more cars because of it.
exactly it's a nice truck but sooooooo out of date. they have been using this same body since 2007, and recently just dropped the 5.4 engine that has been out of the f150s since 2010.
+JAY1BLAZE yup my 04 has the same body, but I must say that it is a beautiful body that has stood the test of time. IMO the ford body was better than the GMs from 03 to 07 and was competitive with the GMs from 07 to 14.
If the Ford expedition ever had the same features as the explorer; like the front and rear 180 cameras, inflatable safety belts, and more. I'll definitely buy the expedition instead. Only if the 2018 is going to have those.
did you end up getting it? my dad has a platinum EL, and now I have my own Expedition too, a 2008 Eddie Bauer. Timeless design, definitely! It's simple, elegant, and handsome.
Competitors: Audi q7, Toyota Land Cruiser, Lincoln Navigator, VW Atlas, Mitsubishi pajero, Cadillac escalade, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Pathfinder, Lexus LX, Mercedes Benz GLS SUV, Toyota 4 Runner. Probably also Porsche Cayenne or VW Touareg. If I Have forgotten any let me know.
I have a question I'm in the process of buying a 2017 or 2016 Ford expedition can someone please tell me the main difference between the platinum version and limited version thanks
I have a 2016 Platinum and some of the differences are interior and exterior cosmetic finishes, i.e. the deplorable (which is an option on the Limited) running boards and mirrors are painted the same as the rest of the body. The grill is polished chrome.in color, but on the platinum it’s more of a satin or aluminum color. There is a chrome strip that runs along the bottom of the rear side windows that isn’t on the limited. The quality and style of the leather seating and the door panels is in my humble opinion a little better looking, and offered in different colors. I forgot to mention that the front bottom of the grill has additional chrome and satin overlay pieces as well. The tow hooks are also chrome on the platinum. The Platinum has blind spot information system with cross traffic alert, which is an option on the limited. The Platinum has rear load leveling system, again this is an option on the limited. If you don’t opt. For the 22” wheels, the 20” wheel styles between the two are different. The exterior paint colors vary between the two as well. I think what you’ll find available with both trim models is that they’re pretty close to being fully equipped except for the rear bucket seats and headrest dvd systems. I do have the bucket seats in mine and I do like that pass through to the 3rd row, even though it’s one less seating position. I also have the rear seat DVD system in the headrest, but I have aftermarket systems which are built by the same copy that builds most of these systems for all vehicles, but the ones I have allow me to connect not only via A/V, but USB and HDMI connections as well. You can also connect via a WIFI or hotspot connection and watch NETFLIX or any other streaming application, so it’s unlimited entertainment for the kids and adults. If you type in 2016 or 17 Expedition brochure you can see all the options I just spoke of. I hope this helps.
@@noname70923 thank you so much for breaking down the details have a blessed day and I'll probably end up going with the limited version because of the price tag difference
Ford’s sticker prices are WAY above the market price on their vehicles. Especially on their more expensive trucks & SUV’s. Market price is probably closer to 55k with minimal haggling.
Why don't they have climate control on the right side anymore? In the 2013 Explorer Sport you could control the climate from the steering wheel. All they have on this truck is navigation, phone and entertainment. Just curious
Truck looks like a 2007 still but for dash but so far behide gmc at that point but 2018 ford was a runner up to gm for a few months 😂but love the cheaper price i get them fords😂
Mike you are awesome well spoken and detailed I had a riding experience in 2018 ford platinum and it is awesome I'm 5'1 mind you I was in passenger seat. All that you presented was in 2018. I would say that ford could have made larger fog lights with a SUV of this size. If you can't go anywhere with this SUV maybe one should not own a SUV in this class. However if you are going to own one get the 4wd it will do one grand. Mike thank you, have you reviewed Land Rover or gl 350or 450? I agreed with you on dual exhaust. Thank you for an awesome review mmitchell8401@att.net
2017 and already dated .....and that has to be the dumb ass, pointless key fob ever ....what's the point of a push to start if u still gotta pull out the key to unlock and lock the door
I got out of the SUV game and bought a F-150. The Lariat, platinum, king ranch and limited goes hard on the streets. The glass roof sealed the deal. I may never go back to an SUV as long as F-150 keeps it's game tight.
Horrible, esas lineas cuadradas, sin aerodinamica y un modelo que no logra despegarse de los 90's. Deberian innovar, tal cual hicieron con la Explorer.
Yeah they have completely lost their minds with full-sized SUV prices. The Chevy is just as insane. I would guess the price is about 25k profit. They don't usually sell at that high a price though, I think.
I still like the exterior of the Expedition, but I don't even think you can get auto cruise control or auto high beams on this thing, and they're asking $69,000 for this vehicle! Way overpriced!
360Magnum My 2016 Black Edition Durango kicks this truck ass on all aspects... but I've had to return the truck back to tell dealer for repairs five times for warranty repairs. Dodge never again should have purchased Ford .
That plastic center piece with the ford emblem in the steering wheel is so outdated and ugly that its a deal breaker for me don't designers know that you have have to look at that all the while when driving, and its the first thing you see when you get in a vehicle. look at Mercedes,Audi,BMW,Cadillac,Gmc, and dodge the steering wheels are beautiful fords are the ugliest in the industry reminds me of of old ford cars I say fire the designer he or she is living in a time warp other than that the vehicle is beautiful.
