Went 7,000 miles between oil change intervals and it's time to change it. Also replacing the air filter at the same time. Fusion playlist: • Ford Fusion
My bf told me he could do an oil change on my 2016 ford fusion. We bought a car jack, oil, filter, etc. only for him to go under and say, "This is harder than I thought." He said we might have to remove the tire just to do it. I thought that was asinine. After watching your video I'm going to attempt to do the oil change myself!
At 8:35 you did a prefill of the oil filter. I agree 100% because it prevents running the engine dry of oil and possibly causing wear. My 2009 Equinox also has a vertical oil filter so I prefill it, too, when replacing.
How is the engine is going to run dry of oil if you don't "prefill" the filter? It makes no sense. It's a tiny bit of oil that goes there. Most of oil is in the pan where it really matters.
My son has a Fusion hybrid, and we were not sure if we could replace the 12v battery ourselves. We took it to the dealer and they told us we needed to have them do it because the computer memory needed to be reprogrammed. Turns out thats not true. A auto repair shop put the battery in without a memory preserver and everything works fine. Dont be afraid to do this job yourself its easy. Hope this helps.
Dealership wasn’t lying. You need a BMS reset in almost every modern car. Any mechanic with smart tool can do it, doesn’t have to be a dealership The new 12v you put will not last long, mark my words.
The shield protect the engine bay and streamlines the underbody, so it is more of a necesity than a bother (only one a year or later) to remove. There are some aftermarket shields with cutouts and covers so you only remove two screws for the drain and two for the filter.
it would be great if you added in the description of the video what oil, filter, etc. what their markings and specifications are. Unfortunately, I don't have the manual. Thanks
Good video, concerns: over filling oil I've been told is not good for seals (even 1/2 qt) AND how about adding the reset oil procedure on the driver panel as that was confusing to me. Good video, watched all three!
@@justhes I’ve never seen that happen personally but don’t put one of those valves on there they are easy to break off if you hit something it’s not work the couple seconds to unscrew it
you can still use either on all Fusion hybrid 2013-2020. It is the same engine, the 5 vs 0 is just for winter vs summer. 0 is better for winter and 5 is better for summer. you can use either though through all 4 seasons and you wouldn't have any issues.
It’s been a very reliable car. I still have the original brakes with 115,000 miles. Since Ford doesn’t make these anymore my first pick for a new hybrid would be a Toyota.
we own a fleet of Fusion hybrid 2013-2020 years. Not ONCE we had to replace the drain plug, don't waste your money. We have millions of miles on our cars, thousands of oil changes. Also, this oil that you just put in is not 100% full synthetic. The only full synthetic in the US are Amsoil, Red Line, Royal purple. Everything else you see is just a name, a court allowed them to put "full synthetic" just to sell, but they can't put "%100 full synthetic". We've been using SuperTech 0w20 since day one we started this company, we haven't had a single engine that needed replacement, most of our cars have between 200k-300k miles. Transmissions? OH YEA we replaced plenty. :) great cars though, very reliable.
What can you say about the transmission? Since you own a fleet of vehicles, I think you may have encountered excess noise in the transmission? Thank you.
@@bobbyz23 using EV mode shortness the life of the transmission. The oil pump inside the transmission works mechanically when ICE is on, when you keep forcing it to stay in EV mode oil gets hot. Thats why the energi version (plug in) has another electric oil pump
