The 2017 Ford Fusion Sport VS the Ford Taurus SHO! Can the Fusion Sport take on it’s big brother Taurus SHO in a 0-60 and 0-100 mph race ? (0-100 km/h - 0-160 km/h)
Both cars have AWD and twin turbos, the Fusion Sport has a 2.7L TT Ecoboost V6 putting out 325HP and 380lb torque. The Ford Taurus SHO has a 3.5L TT Ecoboost V6 putting out 365HP and 350lb torque.
The Fusion has a curb weight of 3982 lbs vs 4343 lbs for the Taurus SHO.
Which one will win the battle between the two ?

I think the craziest thing about this isn't just how fast the SHO is, it's that the power/acceleration curve is so linear. Insane.

The SHO is crazy heavy (~4400lbs) but the Sport isn't much lighter (`4000lbs) despite being a midsize. The advantage the Sport has in weight, it loses in power.

I can't wait till they someday redesign the Taurus SHO and go all aluminum with the 10 speed and the 3.5 with the same ratings as the raptor 450hp and 510TQ with the magnaride that would be a beast. People mentioned the low miles on the Fusion hurting, and also the air temperature was 81° when the Fusion was tested and 68° for the SHO. In my experience there's a noticeable difference in power on a turbo car comparing a low-80 degree day VS. high-60's I'm thinking with additional break in time and similar test conditions this would have been a lot closer.

@@Soulintent95 sounds like a fun ride. But power is only one part of the equation. I can't say I've driven in a fusion Sport. But I can imagine it's a beautiful drive and Ford does have a pretty good reputation with suspension tuning. But there's a reason that the St is owned by more automotive journalists and press members than almost any other car in recent history. I've had 78 cars in my life and the only thing I can think of that comes close would be a Euro spec BMW M3 that I had. Or a 93 Porsche 968 with the mo30 (I think it was called?) suspension. The ST punches so far above its weight in handling it's almost stupid. More power would have been nice but it's entirely usable and it's got a lot of bottom end grunt so you don't really long for it. It's such a shame that Ford stop producing cars in North America other than the Mustang. When they focus on doing something right with their tuning division, nobody in North America can compete in my opinion.

Despite of the impressive performance and aggressive looks the Ford Taurus has, the sales aren't what Ford Motor Company expected, and, as a result, the 2017 Ford Taurus is in its final year of productions. However, Ford Motor Company didn't confirmed any discontinuation of the American market Taurus, the Ford Fusion Sport is an example of a possible obsolete of the Taurus SHO and the regular models from the Taurus lineup.

Yep, every Ford does that. It's more noticeable in 4 or 5 speeds A/T, when you're going 0-top speed, after 3rd gear RPM's will drop about 300 rpms and that will be the torque converter locking up

A $400 flash with no mods brings the SHO to 420hp and 430tq with a 4.6 (0-60) and a 12.9 1/4 on 93 octane. The 3.5 is a way better motor than the 2.7. 2.7 vs. 3.5. No replacement for displacement once again. The Fusion was tested in 80 deg. weather, the Taurus in 68, so possibly that might matter a little as well.

@@DL_Burga It wasn't a prediction, it was known for a while Ford would kill off their cars. What really surprises me is it seems to be happening in Europe as well, they didn't get a Focus RS this year and their Fusion died as well. Really is sad Ford is going this direction, I'd tske an updated SHO over the new Explorer ST any day. I don't need a damn SUV, I want a car that will handle better

That Fusion is weak at 55-95, but the driver seems to have missed the power band. Was it the same driver in both cars? It looked like the Fusion driver tried to drive it like it was a Taurus.

Please excuse the saltiness but eff the Fusion! I have a 2013 Limited and while it's not as "sport" as the SHO,it's a really great car. Luxury I might add. I'm salty because it's an underrated sleeper and Ford just markets the Fusion all the time. The Taurus made the competition take notice and step their game up,but you don't market it? I mean come on. Sigh. 😒
@ChadHaynie

I like the look of the SHO. The front fascia/grille of the SE, SEL, and Limited are "blah" in my opinion, but the front of the SHO matches more closely to the Fusion and the rest of the Ford car lineup. The Taurus doesn't need to be as sporty as the Fusion is. They are two different cars and really two different markets. I would like to see them add a Platinum trim level as they did with the Fusion this year. I don't think it needs to be completely redesigned though and because of the government/law enforcement usage, I doubt we'll see a major redesign until closer to 2020. This is all coming from a Fusion Titanium owner by the way!

I have the 17 Fusion Sport de-badged. Everyone wonders what it is when I blow then away unexpectedly. What's really nice is the room and luxury amenities for a family sedan. A real sleeper for those who feel the need for speed occasionally while keeping their hands warm on the heated steering wheel on the 10F winter mornings! lol Several times very smooth and stable up to the 132mph limiter. Might go a little faster because of the momentum but will not go higher without custom tune.

From standing to 60 the Fusion Sport has the advantage from closer gearing and being significantly lighter. After 60 to 80 is anyone's game, but 80mph+ the Taurus just starts walking away. I would actually be interested to see a side-by-side of the Taurus SHO vs. the Lincoln MKZ 3.0T, thought with that much power the Lincoln would probably take it.
@MasterCarguy44-pk2dq
@MasterCarguy44-pk2dq 7 лет назад
Ultimate hp will win above 70 mph. But, people need to understand too, that Fords rated hp and tq numbers are on 93 octane in good cool air. Plus, overboost is a short 10-12 seconds of when that max tq and hp are achieved, so it's to brief. The last Fusion sport I saw, mildly loaded, weighed in at 4008 lbs. and a base SHO was 4114 lbs. the Fusion sports regular tq is 345-350 out of overboost. And it's regular hp is 315 out of overboost. On 91 fuel, the power drops by 10-12 hp and tq.

With the weight to power comments - a 2017 Fusion Sport vs. Taurus SHO is a drivers race. The Fusion has less HP but more torque while the SHO is heavier. I'm not saying the SHO wouldn't win but I'm also not saying the Fusion Sport would lose. Here's the deal: The Fusion in this video is newer and has less than 1,000 miles on it. The ECU is limiting the power to the engine/transmission and this is the biggest factor in this comparison. The Taurus here has a seasoned engine at 40k with no ECU interference. Also, both these 2.7 and 3.5 Eco's are tuned for max power with 93 octane, and we don't know what fuel is in each vehicle. The SHO is running in 69° vs. the Fusion at 81°, 10° can make a difference how the turbo's perform. These two cars are more evenly matched than what this video depicts.

Am I the only one that noticed the mileage on the Fusion? I personally own a Fusion Sport and my car with 4k miles on it is a way different car than it was with 1k miles on it. Don't get me wrong I love both cars when I bought my car I went to look at a pre-owned SHO and ended up walking away with the brand new Fusion Sport. The cars biggest flaw from the factory is the power curve and the factory shift points. With a tune from Unleashed Tuning or LMS both are fixed and people have been gaining quite a bit of power as well as running high 12's in the quarter. That being said there are not really any bolt ons available for these cars yet so I'm interested to see what happens when there are.

Anyone notice the 12 degree difference in outside temp? I wonder if they were tested at the same altitude? But hotter temps for the Fusion will have held back the car a measurable amount ... not to say the Fusion would beat the Taurus but it would be closer.

There seems to be a couple advantages given to the SHO. For example, ●the FUSION seems to be running when its about 10° hotter out.(COLDER AIR IS MORE DENSE) ●The FUSION has more gas (more weight) than the SHO everytime. ● I don't know if the FUSION is exactly faster with/without traction control. (TRAC was OFF) ●I don't know if the SHO is faster. If it gets better time with traction control or without. (SHO Had Traction Control ON)(FUSION OFF) ●It seems like the above arnt even enough to be called advantages. But when the gap between them is less than a second apart. Then it does matter significantly in my opinion. ☆☆☆☆THIS IS MY OPINION OF VIDEO☆☆☆☆
