Great car. Great video presentation. Clear and precise. But, l understand Honda Crv and Civic 2017/2018, especially the 1.5 turbo engine experienced serious oil/gas dissolution or contamination problem in several countries. What's your thought on this? On Honda reliability. Cheers!
I've met few people buying 7-seat competitors after knowing Honda not bringing in the 7-seater version. Also, looking at all reviewers mentioning Honda's justification- just enhances the case that for people to go buy other 7-seaters out of spite. Even though some 7-seater like x-trail do not make sense, but like a swiss army knife, people just want everything in their cars.
Don't dispute that. I do feel Honda is missing something out by not offering a 7-seater version of the CR-V. I missed my crv, it was my wedding car too. Watching this video actually makes me feels sad. I am kinda forced to made a decision to get rid of her due to fuel pump problem (3 times), made me cannot start the car at all and need to call for tow truck. Also steering rack vibration noise at >140km/hr, which made driving on highway a torture experience. It is a good car, comfy and silent, but not able to start the car, stranded at nowhere were just too much for me to handle. Hope that honda can run stricter QC test on their parts before mass produce their cars. And don’t ever tell customers what “shell fuel dirty causing the fuel pump to failed, better use petronas” nonsense. Will i still buy a crv in future? Yes, but not with the poor QC.
@@KonWaiLuen hi kon, i have moved to g20. It was always my childhood dream to drive a beemer. So after crv i dont really want to spend another 3 to 5 years on a non-bmw car anymore. I know it was not the wisest decision looking back at beemers history of being unreliable. But at least now I can be worry free not afraid that my car wouldn’t start after a long day at work. Driving on highway now is a pleasant experience too without have to look at rear view mirror frequently haha, and of cos very silent and stable drive even at high speed. Now after parking my car, i will always look back with a smile on my face so i guess that reason alone is sufficient for me to buy it despite what people talks about unreliability (many of them dont even have the ownership experience with bmw). Talking about reliable, at least with my personal past experience and people sharing in car groups, new generation Japanese car is actually not so reliable as what people might thought. Bimmer will be more expensive (pleasure comes with price, no doubt about that) to repair after warranty but that is also the reason/motivation for me to work very hard to earn more money just in case. Have you drove the New Sportage GT Petrol or Diesel? If yes how do you compare of these 2 in term of material quality, NVH and so on. Really hope you can answer the question and which design is attractive you more. Tq
Have driven neither, but design-wise, agreed that they are captivating. Shall endeavour to arrange for a test drive then, but I'd say the diesel is a more attractive choice.
Hi Kon thanks for the very informative review of the CRV. But i noticed that most local car reviewers scared to do comparison between cars in the same segment. Hence when you compliment about the car, the viewer cant really sure what to expect. For instant if you said the front wheel drive version of the CRV is more peppy compared to the AWD version, but we as a potential buyers are not only looking to choose between the base/mid/hi spec of the brand. So our expectation is when you give the driving impression can you tell us if this FWD 1.5T more rapid than the Tucson 1.6T or Sportage GT 2.0Turbo Diesel. Whether the NVH is better, interior quality between these model. Because if you see reviewer from europe and australia, the Sportage 2.0CRDI won these.comparison
+Bonbon199 and mewtwo oh, i love comparisons, but the problem we face usually is logistics and timing.. to get all the cars together on the same day, get enough drivers, shoot, and then go back tulis cerita. Noted on your point in wanting to know how a car compareds with its rivals, will try to mention in future vids.
Have not been inside the Harrier's interior, but CR-V's plastics are nothing to shout about. Not poor, but definitely not what you'd call plush. Last drove the Santa Fe in 2013, but the cabin quality is good, if memory serves.
Definitely does, but difference should be minimal as it is an on-demand system i.e. the vehicle functions as FWD most of the time anyway. What will be more significant will be maintenance of the AWD system .. diff oil, bushes, etc.
hi Kon, I'm considering either crv or cx5 for my parents. Their emphasis is on comfort, low nvh and ease to ingress and out for daily use including long distance highway drive. Which one do you think is more suitable?
+Bernard L if emphasis on those qualities, CR-V, no question. CX-5 appeals if you want better handling, a nicer design, and a more premium cabin finish. Of course, do check the cars out before signing your cheque!

Actually since that the boot is so big Honda could have easily made it a 7 seater without having to compromise 2nd row legroom. As for the spare tyre they could've also moved it to under the car like a Fortuner where because it's a 7 seater they have to place the spare tyre outside the vehicle. Honda did not know how to optimise space in the CR-V.
+TheZaman1983 the problem with making a 7-seater version is that the rear seats will inevitably be bulky in order to enablea folding. A slightly bigger body, such as the Sorento, Santa Fe, or even the Outlander, are better 7-seaters
The Forester is a better-engineered car, mechanically, so it's both more comfortable and more refined than the CR-V. Then again, the CR-V counters back with superior interior packaging and features that are both more up-to-date and better-integrated than the Forester's.
Kon Wai Luen it was during a test drive too, button broke...it was alrdy very shaky when I was having a look at the car in the showroom, but the unit for the test drive in glenmarie & puchong. The button broke...🤣
+King Siong Hii Tiguan handles better than the CR-V, but against the CX-5, it's neck-and-neck - boils down to powertrain preference: small turbo vs NA petrol or diesel. The Tiguan's appearance is distinctly average though. CX-5 feels more convincingly premium, or if you are in a left field kind of mood, the 3008 is anothetlr stylish option too.
Hi kon, if you had a choice between the new cx5 2.2d vs Tiguan? Which one would choose ? What is your take on the Mazda Diesel engine, safe and reliable?
CX-5 Diesel for me. Tiguan would consider if it has AWD. The Mazda Diesel engine, to my knowledge, has no reliability issues. It has quite a different feel to most other diesel engines in the market. Refinement is best among diesel engines ... revs with almost petrol-like smoothness, but not as punchy as, say, a BMW diesel. Also, fuel efficiency isn't as good as other diesel engines. Bobby experienced first hand that the Volkswagen Passat 1.8 TSI is more efficient than the Mazda6 2.2 Diesel.

Old timers advise against it for torque converter type transmissions because it gives the gearbox shift shock. I was just lazy to hold the brake pedal with the gear in D.

Rm180,000 cant even buy a new car in Singapore , the cheapest car also cost about RM250,000 ringgit in Singapore , really wish cars were as cheap in Singapore as it is in Malaysia!
Gain some, lose some, I suppose. Then again, with roads that tightly policed in Singapore, don't see car ownership as an attractive preposition there anyway.
Nicholas Sng Cars in Malaysia is not cheap as well, maybe cheaper compared to Singapore's retail price and your gross income, but we are also heavily taxed here in Malaysia for foreign cars. Import duty, excise duty and now also GST.
Dont complain about car prices in singapore. Dumb kid In malaysia you get potong staffs to make the cars for you and the quality is rubbish. Singapore cars are normally imported directly from japan and thailand You get what you pay for
My father’s honda screen display (terbalik) . Sometimes it terbalik automatically i dont know why . And very hard to charge my phone . The charger 🔌 inside the front passengers compartment. Even no arm rest . Hurm.... .
Kon Wai Luen Cr-v symbolizing the splendor of the honda... and luxury . Cant be no armrest.... . But every honda , the engine never disappointing . Haha .
Depends on whether you need 5 or 7 seats. The CR-V is the segment default choice and is a very good all-rounder. The Outlander is a competitive product - handsomely styled, well-equipped, spacious inside, but only problem is that it lacks rear air-con vents. Powertrain-wise also, Honda is superior.
But since when an SUV is synonymous to 4WD? Even Porsche, Audi and other brand don't fit their 4WD into their SUVs as standard, as these cars were being driven in city most of the time. You want 4WD, go for pick up truck
+mrpezzal saham the reasoning given, and you are of course free to disagree, is that Honda Malaysia feels that the 7-seater is tight on space and compromises luggage capacity
+David Ong as an overall package, the CR-V is more balanced and practical. The CX-5 exudes more premiumness and drivers appeal. My number one choice is Ford Kuga, but they no longer sell that.

If come to practicality, the crv is a good car. But build quality just felt very Japanese. The hard plastics felt nasty. And always go to Honda showroom, the sales person didn't bother to approach me, very bad sales experience. Only lose to Toyota's famous salesman that think they're the king.
xiper86 sorry to burst your small little bubble, but I'm not a Kia salesman. But sadly, I don't see Honda winning any international reward compare to Kia sportage. Stop living in your small 3rd world mentality. Where is Honda's ranking in the reliability report these days?
This crv better dont buy the 4wd variant. Differiantial problem. Make a sharp turn u can hear krook krook krook. One time flush the dirty differential oil need x2
