My moms 2017 CRV came with a factory problem . Gasoline was mixing with the oil. The dealer could not fix it. They gave my Moms another car a year newer and the good part is she did not have to pay any difference.

I've had a 2017 CRV since June of last year. I'm surprised that the excessive engine noise problem was not addressed in this video. Engine noise has increased after a few thousand miles. My first and last Honda.

Update at 10,000 miles in 10 months. I understand there will be some people calling me names on RU-vid. I'm not surprised. But for the other Honda owners. Here is the continuous long term at 10,000 miles. I'd done the 2nd oil change and 1st tires rotation at the Honda dealer where I'd purchased this CRV; $72.12 included tax. And the 2017 CRV recall done at the same time. I was told by Honda, not all 2017 CRV has this problem, only some. The manufacture recall was done at Honda dealer at no cost: Fuel Feed Pipe Leak. Or Owners, Honda Manufacture will call you multiple times on your registered owner's contact numbers. I was in Africa last month, and Honda left me at least 5 massages to make sure I do follow up with the recall. Honda also sent the recall letters to my home as well. After 10,000 miles, the CVT jerks a bit less and runs a bit smoother, but still jerks a bit in the morning when it first started. Just to be fair, my other 2 Toyota Prius did the same from time to time. No other issue so far. Back to the Honda touchscreen, remains no change , slow but it works. The bluetooth connections work well with iPhone, no change. But with Samsung or other Androids the connections is unreliable at times, no change just like the day I bought it. Touchscreen remains slow, flickers from time to time and sometimes won't turn on when outside temp is at low 30F. Don't panic, just restart the engine and it will turn back on . Eventually the flickering stopped.....so far. Thank God.

Did you have a heat issue in the colder weather? (Lack of heat)?

I live in Colorado and leave for work at about 4am, the past few days it was 8 degrees and the engine was loosing heat at idle thus loosing heat in the cabin, this is a problem.

The CRV is a polished vehicle however this 1.5 engine oil dilution problem is scaring the heck out of a lot of customers...

Great review and I have seen others complaining about the noise. I've never found CRVs to be even remotely loud and who is riding around without listening to music? I just don't get this complaint.

Loving this new look for the CR-V, it looks premium especially with the Escalade-like LED turning indicators in the tail lights.. Just curious as to why Honda didn't give the same premium looks to the 2018 Odyssey and Accord (which are supposed to be more premium than the CR-V).

How did you get black interior with the molten lava exterior? The Honda website says you can only get ivory interior. I want the black interior but not have to get the white, black or Olive green exterior.

Love my cr-v , but takes forever to warm up in city driving and coasting downhill , it drops the engine temp gauge almost to the cold mark, had it in 3 times to have it checked but,,,,,,,,

I notice you did not included the redesigned Tiguan. I would like see how Honda 2018, Crv touring, match up to the VW Tiguan highline 4 motion 2018. In price, speed, driving dynamic, real time consumption, interior space and ride comfort. In my option I would choose Tiguan if it was not for slightly better fuel consumption from Crv. However I heard later in the year VW is upgrading the 2.0 turbo engine. So waiting see that engine before making a choice. If the engine is good as the Crv in fuel consumption or better I will not hesitate buy.

I like this CRV, just wish the center screen was used properly instead of only having a bit more than the screen to use. Also, I would prefer a nicer rims, Rogue has a 19" with nicer rims for the SL trim. Hope the CRV bring a nicer one for this Touring

Oil issues?

The only reason i chose this over the tucson is that it has a 7 seater option here in the Philippines

Really concerned about the cvt. Heard of gas in the oil. Was thinking of buying one. I don’t know now. The whole point of a Honda is reliability. Doesn’t sound like it anymore.

Still don’t understand how the Hyundai with an arguably better infotainment system and a few more luxury features was able to nudge the CRV in your ranks. Having driven both, I’d take the CRV any day.

I negotiated a 2018 Honda CRV EX for a friend this week. Her first new car in more than 10 years, she wanted the best for the category. Since I work in the automotive industry and get to drive all kinds of cars, the Mazda CX5, the Hyundai Tucson and the Honda CR-V are the best. The Mazda is for the best and most accurate handling. The Tucson is the lightest, more miserly and looks the best to me, then there is the Honda CR-V, which will if following normal Honda trends, last a very long time and is quite easy to live with. If I needed car though and space wasn't that big of a deal, the Mazda CX5 would be my favorite.

You can improve the initial throttle response with a Hondata tune.

I love my 2017 crv....the bluetooth can be a pain in the ass and LKA and censors to prevent collusion sometimes react t a car passing you...but over all I like it.

why would you place the GMC Acadia in this class? Honda needs to really work on that infotainment screen. One dial for the volume which they brought back. But otherwise there is too much real estate in and around that area.

Should have done an oil analysis to see how much gas got into the oil. Its a major issue on this model. I would stay away from the CRV like the plague. Honda destroyed this model with a CVT and a turbo.

I Own This Car, The I VTEC CR-V

I think the one compact suv that in my opinion is better than the Honda CR-V that this review forgot to mention is the 2018 Nissan Rogue SL. The platinum model has the ProPILOT assist option for level 2 semi autonomous driving and gorgeous interior and ride. The Nissan is a bit underpowered but it makes up for it in creature comforts.

Honda could of put the 2.0T & 10-speed AT in the CRV, but they'll likely offer that in the upcoming Acura RDX & charge more $$$. 🤦🏻‍♂️😭

The oil dilution issue really took away from the CRV. The CRV would of been great if the engine did not have the oil issue causing questions about its longevity for long term ownership. I recently purchased a 2019 EXL CRV with only 20k only to find out the engine was suffering from the oil dilution. Sadly I know I will not keep it long term an after much investigation I would prefer a naturally aspirated engine rather then any turbo charged engine.

I think Honda cut their own throats. I was going to trade my 2014 CRV-LX for a 2017 CRV EXL, unfortunately the only engine I could get was a Turbo except on LX. I was also going to buy my wife an Accord 2018 and it also comes with Turbo. I am a die hard fan of the reliable 2.4 and the 3.0 engine by owning several in the past. There is no way that I am going to get into Turbo. I tested drove a CRV and there was a noticeable Turbo lack. Honda haven't realized that their cars were sold on reliability, not MPG. I would buy a RDX V-6 for me and a Camry for my wife instead.

A lot of these review people, only talk about how the car looks, and how it drives, which is easy, but none of them, ever talk about the cost of maintenance, labor, and reliability. Probably because they don't do maintenance on the car themselves and just send it to a dealer or mechanic, and I guess the other reason why, is because they just only have the car for a few weeks and that's it. Whereas a guy like me, likes to keep his car for more than 5-10 years, and I do my own maintenance. They should do the same. Give another review after more than 5 years with the vehicle, talking about maintenance costs. Then, they would have my attention.

CR-V really needs that 2L Turbo Engine.. 1.5L Civic Engine is very anemic

4:18-4:36 After my 3,100 miles in 3 months real world driving in a large metro area with daily work-home driving 85% under 40mph and 15% at 55-65mph my average is 26.1-26.4ish MPG. Thanks to Irma, I got stuck in ATL for a week and tested out a rental Ford Escape. (Because I heard the Escape Engine in front of Notre Dame de Paris was so quiet, I had to rent one to try myself). Ford is quiet inside, efficient engine, smooother ride than CRV but I did felt heavy at top and light at bottom. I really was careful on the wet highway I85 when turning corners. 2017 CRV engine reminds me so much and feels really the same with 2013 Toyota Prius V (the station wagon). Both engines are a bit loud and feels the same during acceleration. Except the Toyota 1.8 litre maybe a bit faster than CRV at times, yes even it's a hybrid. Total real world gas cost: 2013 Toyota Prius V is around $80ish/month and 2017 CRV-L is around $120+ish/month. Had you ask me to buy another CRV again.....ummm, nope.

Get rid of the Turbo's and the CVT transmissions and you will have a SUV

The Hyundai is nice, but the only thing that would keep me from buying one is the transmission. I currently own a car with a dual clutch transmission. After having to constantly put my car in the shop for transmission problems and having to sue the company that made my car (Ford), I will never buy another vehicle with one. I don't care how great they supposedly are, how many improvements they make to them, I will never ever buy another vehicle with a dual clutch transmission.

Another bought by Honda ad! If you guys want a real and unbiased review, see Alex on Autos. Alex is by far the best automotive reviewer that I've seen. He always seems to be a straight shooter and always tells you the good, bad and ugly. UNBIASED!

Why settle for less than a Honda

The Equinox 1.5t with AWD is $6,000 and a much better deal. Might one reason the Equinox is outselling the CR-V for 2018.

LOL at Tucson winning comparison. Done by reviewer who has probably never put a kid in a back seat, taken a family on a road trip, put bikes in a car or even gone camping. Never mind the Tucson's 2007 fuel economy. The Cx5 is also way better than the Tucson.

For those people who loves 2017 CRV, just make sure you REALLY play a lot and for a long time in the dealer before you commit a purchase. The "new" 2017 Honda touchscreen is slower then my 2003 HTC cell phone touch screen. But for the fair comparison, so is my 2013 Toyota Prius V, both slooowww..... If you're used to iPhone or Samsung touchscreens, both cars touch screens are won't be your first choice. I won't even bring up the Bluetooth pairing pain.

Oil dilution.? Engine has a flaw. I’ve owned two great CRVs current being my 2009 third generation and I will not buy this generation. Honda should have never never never put a turbo engine into a CRV. Piston rings were not properly manufactured and that’s why the gas goes over it and drips into the engine oil
