Thank you for this, really helped me out. A little thing I picked up though. That red tail light clip, you could just use your finger for the bottom tab and the whole red connector just slides off that tray.

This was really useful when removing my wife’s battery from her Rebel for the first time, thank you!

nice supplement to the user manual. thanks. Note: I had to remove the negative terminal connection first because there is a "clip" that's part of the battery cover under the negative terminal; cover won't come off without the negative terminal removed first.

Thanks for this, I'm about to install a USB charger and this helped me figure out how to get access to the battery terminals.

Thanks for the video. The actually removal and replacement section is pretty good. A few nits. Getting it all wet before exposing electrical connections is problematic. Using a sharp blade around the electrical or anywhere in there is asking for trouble. The little pins that are pushed to remove the cover, must be pressed gently and only enough to release the fitting. Pressing harder can cause the pin to go all the way through and drop down into the frame for a real waste of time. Never pressure wash a motorcycle. That forces water and debris into places that they should not be in and can cause lots of problems. The wiring harness wrap on this bike does not effectively cover the wire entry into the back of the connectors. Pressure washing can increase the potential for corrosion in them. In decades of riding, i have not pressure washed or even hose washed any of my motorcycles. I have, on rare occasions hosed mud off of the tires and under fenders being careful to not spray anything else. The best cleaning is with limited Fantastic spray and a rag for tough gunk. Never use 409 as it will decay rubber and vinyl. I clean everything except the seat, tires, discs and foot-pegs with lemon pledge sprayed on a rag and not on the bike. It works on every material to clean and waterproof even windshields, helmets and shields. Keep the Pledge over-spray off the floor as it is slippery. Pledge will not discolor, burn off and resists gasoline and oil. The advantage to this type of cleaning is the ability to also closely inspect every portion of the motorcycle at the same time.

Hector Taylor haha. How you suppose to keep it clean then? Wish the dirt away? Idk where you live but just breathing on anything where I live leaves a fine layer of dust and sand. Also wanted to mention that this shed blew away and the motorcycle is now kept outside. Unless it’s being worked on in my kitchen. Seriously though, great tips. If I had a garage or somewhere covered to keep the bike I would try them. Working on building a garage now then a newer moto later. Saving this comment for when that happens. Thx for watching!

Thanks for the video, helped alot, for some reason it took me a while to get that red cable out:) also I had to open it 2 more times and in last one i rushed and broke that small plastic bolt. Now I know what you mean by " dont rush you dont want to break any plastic :) " The only other thing is, its kinda tricky when the battery comes with 2 washers that we have to manually place it and make it tight so it doesnt fall of while installing battery or putting screws on. Thanks again!

Great videos! I've been riding my 2017 Honda rebel for a few months now. Couple video ideas that would be helpful: how to remove and clean brakes, widening and narrowing neutral zone (adjusting gear shifter/cables), and changing spark plugs. Appreciate your channel!
@ArchesMechanic
@ArchesMechanic 6 лет назад
Nick Sena I do already have one for adjusting the shifter cable. Check the playlist. Also spark plug is a good one. One one on mine. Brakes are a good idea too. Thanks!

Thanks for the vid. Went out to my bike recently and it wouldn’t start. Popped the seat and it looks like someone stole my data link connector holder. The 4 pin and harness are fine though. Could this be the cause of it not starting?
@ArchesMechanic
@ArchesMechanic 2 года назад
Hmm. It shouldn’t be a problem. If it’s cranking then it should start. If it won’t crank I would check the clutch safety switch and kickstand safety switch.
@LadyKiller_SAT_THU_Tinh_Truong
Sir, at 1:39 , the red one you remove, underneath that there is a clip, we just use fingernail to flip that clip up then we pull whole red one off black cap anyway, thanks for your clips, i did to follow your steps, and find out a easy way.

So... I found out the hard way he bent the cover where it goes over the negative terminal. This design is so bad I put a battery tender quick release on this bike and it's near impossible to get that cover back on.. I just have it sitting there in place not clipped in
@ArchesMechanic
@ArchesMechanic 5 лет назад
Braydon Tol agreed. Didn’t realize until after a few times removing the battery that the cable had to go through the freakin thing
@666braydon
@666braydon 5 лет назад
@@ArchesMechanic that crappy little loop is really easily solved with some wire cutters, that plastic boot and zero clearance space on the positive terminal is probably the worst thing about the whole situation though. Putting the battery quick connect on there was an absolute nightmare

Hey Bud, forgot to ask what kind of battery comes in the Honda rebel
@ArchesMechanic
@ArchesMechanic 6 лет назад
Eric Lopez here is the part number. 31500-K36-A01
@sgtkeebler
@sgtkeebler 6 лет назад
I let my Honda rebel sit for awhile before I rode it again. I would say like two weeks, the bike starts up but when I disengage the clutch it dies, and when I press the starter it turns over a couple times before it starts. Now if I ride it for awhile the bike will start to run normally and wont die. But I have to ride it for like an hour to get to that point. Does that sound like a bad battery?
@ArchesMechanic
@ArchesMechanic 6 лет назад
Eric Lopez hmm. I would say more than likely bad gas but I would check with the dealer just to be sure. Even with a bad battery, the stator/alternator should keep it going.
@sgtkeebler
@sgtkeebler 6 лет назад
Arches Mechanic hey, so I always put shell premium gas in my tank 91 octane. I never use anything else since I got it. Is that bad? So when I’m riding it should keep running what about when it’s in neutral or clutch pulled in?
@ArchesMechanic
@ArchesMechanic 6 лет назад
Eric Lopez unless the kickstand is down the bike should always stay running. Maybe a short in the kill switch?
@sgtkeebler
@sgtkeebler 6 лет назад
Arches Mechanic so I took my bike in today to the dealership and the guy rode it and it didn’t die. Then he implied I was lying, so I pulled up my home security cam which showed my bike dying and it turning over but not starting. So I will let you know what they find!
@sgtkeebler
@sgtkeebler 6 лет назад
Arches Mechanic so they told me they couldn’t find any thing and that they were going to charge me a bunch of money to tear it down even though it has 478 miles on it. But they reflashed the ecm chip for free. So next time my bike does it I’m going to take it to the actual Honda dealer and not the 3rd party I bout it from.
