This job may be seen as a rear main seal. Be careful. They may oversell the repair and you will end up paying too much for this “rear main seal” that in reality was just an oil pressure switch
How many hours should a mechanic need to replace the switch? I have a 2015 grand santa fe 4x4 3.3L gasoline. Engine sounds great but light comes on at idle or low rpm. Please let me know. Should it take 1-2 hours or 4-5? I have no clue.
Just tackled this today on my wife's 17 Santa Fe ultimate . Took me about 4 hours. For the oil pressure sensor, I ground down a 24 mm craftsman wrench quite a bit to get around pulling the coolant pipe .
I have the same problem with 2017 Kia Sorento that has 3.3 with 72K miles. I have not worked on a GDI engine. How did you depressurize the fuel lines? Do the fuel rails come off without much prying? How did you disconnect the fuel rails, do they have a fuel line release or is it threaded with a nut? Did you replace the seals on the injectors before reinstalling?
I have a 2017 Santa Fe Sport 2.4L with about 26K miles. When the engine is cold, light goes off right away and stays off. After driving 30 minutes at highway speed and stop for gas, light stays on for 30-45 seconds and stays off until next stop. Oil level is good, just changed it with new hyundai filter but didn't help. Is oil pressure switch bad?
Hi Karl, my 2016 Santa Fe Sport is a 4 cyl, I never abused my Santa Fe.I have 117,000 Kms ( that’s 72,700 miles)but my oil light comes on while idling but after 1200 rpm light shuts off. When I come to a red traffic light and wait rpm drops and low oil light starts flashing untill I go again .Do you think it would be oil pressure switch. I’ll look at the dip stick for looseness and cover on to where you add oil. I’ll do this myself as I have all he tools and always try to fix my own cars I’ve had over the last 50yrs. But I’m not a mechanic . But learn from books before internet and RU-vid. Your videos are super. Thank for sharing. Sent Sept 10/2023. Cornwall Ontario Canada
@@gotacopy821Assuming you're not hearing any knocking or other indicators that your oil pressure is truly low, it sounds like you have a bad switch. If the four cylinder model is anything like the six cylinder, your oil pressure sensor switch is located under the intake manifold...meaning the intake manifold has to come off. This is a fairly bigger job for a shade tree mechanic, but is absolutely doable if you have the patience and do your homework before removing even one bolt. Good luck.
I have a 2017 also, leaking, and was told that I need to replace the oil gasket on the TOP oil pan?? Do these vehicles have a TOP oil pan as well? I was quoted 1900.00 dollars for the job, because to get to the TOP oil pan, they have to drop the engine..???
