Awesome class of motor racing! I’d love to see more cars like Ian Stathams Magna, it’s interesting to watch a home grown 6 cyl battle competitively with the v8's, like we've seen in previous seasons
Was the announcer saying that the 3sge in Chris Brown's 86 was a 3.4 liter 😂 that's a 2.0 engine, and even if he did swap to the bigger 5s block and bore/stroke it out, it'd never be bigger than 2.5 liters
arkir Improved Production regulations slap a 1.7x coeficient to the displacement of forced induction cars for the displacement classes; ergo, the 2.0L 3SGTE is viewed as a 3.4L.
Dalton Bedore Yeah, the presenters don't really explain it in any detail. Oh, and rotaries have a 1.8x coeficient, but almost no one even mentions that.
@@daltonbedore8396 I mean, forced induction is a method to cram in the equivalent air/fuel a higher displacement motor NA motor would use. You'll see multipliers like that in a lot of production based road and rally racing because there are usually limits based on displacement.
Mr. Cox is one bloody good driver. Unfortunately he is in an inferior car. FWD vs RWD the Civic will lose. Besides it is a Honda. The motors are known to detonate with horrific results.
Jonathan Bachman you obviously didn't watch. On the straights he is getting beat but he is the absolute fastest through the corners. He can out brake and out handle the others
Sean Breidenbaugh I did indeed watch good Sir. I am a big fan of this young man. I watched Mr. Cox at Bathurst and was amazed at his 3rd place finish. Understood he had no chance against the pointy end V8’s. I race in a series against Honda’s. Yes you can get them to not detonate bit it takes a lot of money. Of course the Civic will out brake and out turn most cars in it class because of it light wt. If you watched the race you will see the inside rear wheel off the tarmac. Not conducive to a balanced car. There are many Civic’s racing in the U.S and Down Under. Mr. Cox is the difference. Honda’s are inferior and blow up. What he has done with this car is brilliant. I am a big fan of Mr. Cox. Remember good Sir the car is a mere instrument to transport a driver around the track. The car has no idea what flavor is on the valve cover. It is the bloke wrenching and driving that make the difference. My words were not intended to be condescending or confrontational. The young man can flat out wheel that unit around a race track.
And please understand I'm not being an ass. I hate Honda's and most front wheel drive TBH. I'm a Mopar fan. Love the Magnum series motors and have a 6000lb truck that I used to roll race with. But if the adjusted the gearing a little I think he could beat them. Simply cause he can carry more speed.
Sean Breidenbaugh No worries. I do not “hate “ Honda’s. They make good road cars. Race cars? Not so much. My point is this Gentleman is an outstanding driver in an inferior car. My statement is not emotional. It is factual. One does not have to agree. As I stated before I race against them. They blow up. Break axels. Break transmissions. EVERY RACE! This young man has found a combination to make this platform work. Maybe not at this race. An inherent flaw of Honda’s. This Civic is still a Civic. Mr. Cox makes it a race car worthy of praise. It takes a lot of money and work to make them go around a race track at this level.
