Anyone who truly loves tennis pretty much died and went to heaven during this match. I literally never thought I'd see the day these two played doubles together while at the top of their game. And having so much fun! #Fedalforever
I was going to say, top of their game? You must be crazy! Then I remembered this is the year they both fought in the AO Final against each other. Truly crazy.
@@vincentyou266 yea This was the year they surged back to dominance, they won 2 slams each, 5 masters between them and completely destroyed everyone else on the circuit
Off court he smiles all the time he's widely regardly as the nicest man on the tour, never arrogant and always gives lesser players (which is everyone!!) the upmost respect, its just that on court he is usually so focused and he says its very difficult to smile when he's in the zone and playing to win championships
@@shingo701 I was just noticing that. How seriously they took the match (check out the intense expression on Rafa's and Roger's faces when they're discussing strategy) while never taking themselves too seriously. Great competitors who are also very decent men.
This is epic. The 2 greatest players rising to the top of the game once again and playing together for the first time. Actually 'epic' doesn't do it justice.
i agree Federer greatest all round player, Nadal greatest clay court player, the ultimate player would be a combination of them both, but as it stands Federer is the greatest as he is the most complete tennis player ever
karl Joseph Clarke There is no way Federer is the most complete player ever. Nadal is the most complete player ever in outdoor surfaces. Nadal has won at least 2 Grand Slam (GS) titles on each surface (hard, grass and clay). Federer only has won 1 GS on clay. Therefore, Nadal has his GS titles more evenly distributed by surface than Federer. 2 GS on each surface>>> 1 GS on each surface. Federer is only more complete than Nadal on indoor surfaces. In order to be the most complete player ever, Federer needs to be more complete than Nadal both in outdoor and indoor surfaces (not only indoor ones). In other words, Federer needs to win at least 3 French Open titles to be more complete than Nadal. With 3 French Open, Federer would have at least 3 GS on each surface (hard, grass and clay), and would become more complete than Nadal both in outdoor and indoor surfaces. Right now, Nadal is the most complete player ever in outdoor surfaces with at least 2 GS titles on each surface.
Home At Last I think it’s because Bjorn didn’t win many doubles titles as singles titles, and i can’t imagine what it would be like to try to coach two players who already have experience in doubles and in the game. Nadal has a lot more experience in doubles than Bjorn Borg, so i think Bjorn kind of left them be and let them focus on their own strategy and experience
@@williamlin5382 Nice try at excusing rudeness and disrespect. They were completely ignoring the man --- this isn't about tennis skill or advice. Nice try, but you fail.
im a big fan of rafa but i can say that it was a privilage watching them playing together with out a doubt the biggest rivalery that any sport has eve seen not only that, they are good freinds of the courts as well what an example this two players are in a word amazing
I can watch this match over and over. The respect in Fedal is one of a kind. When they both eventually retire, I hope they will stay on playing doubles, on the same side of the court!
5 years later, and the world's greatest are getting ready to play together as a team for the last time :) thank you to Federer for being a massive inspiration all these years👏👏
No se como lo ven este partido Pero para mi esto fue historico Uno de los momentos mas importantes en la historia del tennis Simplemente extraordinario No por lo que ganaron Sino por ver a los 2 mas grandes de su epoca de un mismo juego del mismo bando
Make it 40 slams between Roger and Rafa! Incredible !!! add Djoker and it is 57 slams between the 3! We are really lucky to be witnessing history being made! 🤯🙏👌
He often used to flip his sides over both of them as GOAT in favour of who was winning and these 2 kind of trolled him by showing that they really don’t care lol
Bruh! I've never heard of this cup competition. Its 2020 and I've just discovered all this on RU-vid! Never seen Rafa & Federer playing together for a competitive match.
Who’s here after their last doubles match together in Laver cup😭 I cant watch that one again my heart won’t take it so i came back to this one. I need a happy ending
September 23, 2022 An unforgettable day in sports history Roger Federer announces his tennis retirement and has his last game with his grimoire Rafael Nadal a legendary farewell in London within the Laver Cup tournament A sad and sensitive scene that will not erase from my memory Thank you Roger You are a historical legend 😢💪🎾
what many people don't understand is that doubles is almost a foreign sport to the regular singles game, played on the same court. I am an okay club level player but i don't mess with doubles, it's a different game
No it´s not, LOL. Every truly great tennis player will be able to play some good doubles as well. But you have to be a complete player, which most of today´s pros are not (with Federer being one of the very few exceptions). I mean, who are Querrry and Sock?! Yet, the two GOAT contenders barely managed to sqeak out a win. Not particularly impressive. Back in the day, you wouldn´t be called one of the games` greats unless you excelled in doubles as well (Hoad, Stolle, Rosewall, Newcombe, Roche, Nastase, Connors, McEnroe). And while there were exceptions (Borg), that´s still how it was.
actually Roger and Rafa are both extremely good Doubles Players, Roger and Rafa won gold in olympics doubles for their respective nations and Rafa has won Indian Wells with his doubles partner Marc Lopez...it's just that I think this was their first time playing together so they might not have worked out everything. Doubles also let's you hide your weaknesses, so Querrey and Sock's usual weaknesses in singles were hidden, such as inability to cover the court with the same speed as roger or rafa, and it's much easier to hold serve in doubles when you have a really good net player and Sock is a doubles specialist
@@fundhund62 2 goats barely managed to win because it proves that doubles and singles are vastly different. Try using your brain next time? If it was singles, sock and query wouldn't even be competitive. The fact that you don't even know who sock is meanms you don't even know tennis. sock is one of the best doubles player.
not lucky enough that the video’s not included the charming part of Laver cup, ways the teammates support their man is truly awesome/heartwarming. After all, many thanks for sharing this. Showing full-match is much appreciated. 🙂Have a nice day. Stay healthy everyone.
32:10 lol @ Roger trying to get Rafa's attention to discuss tactics again, honestly one of my fav things watching them play doubles. This and the hand touching every point which I find to be very sweet and definitely showcases #fedalutd lol
If anybody asks me the meaning of love i will say this one.... This is love... Maybe metaphorical and abstract at the same time... But on a serious note this is beauty and beauty is love....
At 30:40, see how Roger and Rafa walking to the court together because they're always discussing tactics and planning their next move (I love how Roger accompanies Rafa to pass the towel lol) while world team is already standing apart to start play. Also that #FedalUtd tag was perfect because at one point Fedal are literally standing together united under that sign (still discussing lol). At first I thought maybe world team already discussed everything prior to the game and hence have no need for constant discussion like Fedal, but then I realized Roger and Rafa are both amazing players that they can't help but always think of a way/solution for the best move and always exchanging and discussing ideas with each other. Notice when they walk it's almost always in sync, and you know what they say about great minds.. ;)
After all his super-glam super-star tennis status and career BjornBorg is a simple down-to-earth man... could never have imagined this - we used to only read about him in the last page of our newspapers in the 80s...
Love to watch this, Nadal and Federer in one team in tennis Love them both. Can see the friend ship. They really help each other to win the double match.
the common denominator and the main reason we have the priviledge to watch these guys together is Rod Laver. We'll never see this if not for their love and respect to Rod Laver
Definitely right about how much tougher it is to volley against so much topspin. I have a Slinger Bag, which imparts extreme topspin, particularly when you turn up the speed. The ball comes dipping with so much spin and downward force that you can feel the ball pushing down and you have to neutralize or counter the topspin with some backspin. It was probably like that volleying against Borg or Vilas back in the day.
47:47 you talk about amazing hands, this is the 2nd time (!st overhead claw couple minutes earlier) shows roger knows how to pounce/paw with amazing deftness. Quick amazing hands/reaction/form.
I missed Borg who had played just earlier, when he was in his prime here in Colorado; instead the usher gave us seats for a doubles match which was really dissappoiintingl! Should of asked for a refund instead!!
