Hi fellow T@G owner! As I’m watching your video I am noting a couple of things that we also discovered with our T@G - very similar to your discoveries with the gray water, cooking surface and utensils… I am able to guesstimate how much freshwater we still have in the tank by how many gallons of gray water we toss from our bucket. We also have a wash station set up on the tongue of our Boondock… or we use a three stepstool that we take when we bring our kayaks which makes it easier for us to mount the kayaks on top of our T@Gxl We set up a 2 1/2 gallon spouted water jug that we bought at Walmart for $7 - we use it to wash our hands and we also use it to clean off any food the remains on our pots and pans and dishes This also helps save fresh water in the tank. (Which I think really only gives us about 8 available gallons) For using the stove top… We have discovered that using two 6” to 7” cast-iron frying pans instead of one large one is actually really great. We cook individual meals in each small frying pan… For example we will have a small piece of chicken, eggs, or veggie burger, or fillet of salmon in each pan along with added vegetables that we add after the main protein cooked through ... it is the best way to eat -right out of the pan - and we even do this at home sometimes because the cast iron keeps our food hot to the last bite. For utensils we discovered the same thing that normal utensils are too long… But Marshals and T.J. Maxx have really nifty utensils that are small… I also ordered an OXO mini spatula on Amazon I think it was about $7. I hope 2021 brings you lots of happy camping! - Maria
I was looking at these at Toms Camper land in Phoenix yesterday while I was waiting for them to wash the Max Flyer I purchased, those are really nice Tear Drop Trailer. I drove there from Southern California to purchase my trailer. First time I towed with my Jeep was yesterday right into afternoon rush hour on the Phoenix highways. Unbelievable stop and go traffic for miles. All the time I thought someone was going to rear end me and crush my new trailer. Finally got to my daughters house in Glendale all stressed out, Spent the night and left for home in southern Cal this morning on the 10 freeway, right into a downpour at Quartz site to the AZ, Cali border. seven hours to get home, dead tired and didn't want to look at the trailer anymore today...
you probably already knew, but your poor gas mileage discrepancy may be attributed to not having overdrive off while towing. Generally, cars that are set up for towing have the option to shut OD off. On cars without it (particularly Nissan models), you need to go into manual shift mode, and stay within the range of gears that keeps your RPM's down on the highway.
Try using a griddle and stackable pans/steamer pot. That way you can use both burners with the griddle and cook 2 things with the steamer pot (whatever in the bottomb while steam cooks whatever in top). The creativity is part of the fun.
Thanks for the video. Does the king size mattress go end to end and side to side. Wanting to get a portable propane heater, but it doesn't seem there is any surface apart form the bed. Maybe a DIY shelf at one end. Thanks for your help.
The mattress does go end to end and side to side so storage can be problematic. If you're going to be solo anytime I saw a video where someone stacked the mattress' on top of each other and had open space on one side and he had some drawers there. It looked pretty effective.
Two words sir, Tri Pod. I hope I am not coming across as a smart ass, it's just I couldn't watch the whole video because of the camera movement. But I do like the trailer. Been thinking of getting one. Did you mention the bottom line price? Thanks for posting sir.
