Short acceleration test with the all-new 2016 / 2017 Mercedes-Benz E 220d (W213 E-Class) powered by that newly developed OM 654 2.0 diesel engine delivering 194 hp & 400 Nm of torque through a 9G-Tronic transmission (weight: 1.680 kg). As we are in Portugal to test this stunning piece of technology we of course were not able to test higher speed accelerations but will make sure to let those follow once we have the car on the Autobahn again. First impression are that especially the low noise level of this diesel makes it a proper engine for such a luxurious car, even from the outside it is never annoying. On the other hand the power-delivery is really smooth, especially in the higher rpms it behave more like a petrol engine. I drive taxi in Denmark and I've been driving the w213 220d for over a year now. I think it's the best car you can buy for the money. The engine is powerful enough, the ride is very smooth, it feels like it should. Fuel consumption is amazing ☺️

@@malan07 the engine got some major work done at about 200.000 km and drove about 200.000 more until it was decommissioned. But you can't compare taxi driving with private driving. All in all, it's generally a much better car that most of the other brands

@@malan07 my gold 2.0 tdi made 450 000 km without any repairs or engine, only the flywheel and the clutch, dacia logan 1.5 dci renauls engine, on taxi has 540 000 km, only the clutch was changed 3 times. E clas costs more than 60k euros,..

The performance is adequate for most people's needs. I remember when four cylinder diesel E-classes had acceleration so slow that could only be measured with a calendar. Remember the W123 200d? So slow that you would be dead and buried by the time it finally hit 100 km/h.

Und wiedereinmal sehe ich was für ein willkommenes Privileg es doch ist, so schnell fahren zu können wie ich ich will auf der Autobahn in DE. Ich hätte kaum Anreize mir z.B. ein AMG-Modell zu holen, wenn ich in Portugal leben würde, weil ich deren Potential nie vollkommen ausschöpfen könnte. Da reicht ein MX-5, macht Spaß für die Serpentinen und da sind nur 120 km/h drin noch erträglich. Und die neue E-Klasse finde ich rund um gelungen. Zwar stimmt es, dass die und die C-Klasse sich sehr ähnlich sehen, dennoch hat sie irgendwie noch ihren eigenen Charakter und Reiz

+Qashi Die spiegeln hier im Video mehr als in Echt da die Kamera nicht die Displayoberfläche sondern quasi das Gespiegelte fokussiert. Zum Filmen war es daher schwierig aber zum Ablesen mit dem menschlichen Auge nie ein Problem. Die Bedingungen waren hier auch extrem, tief-stehende Sonne plus null Wolken;)

Die spiegeln nicht. Ist auch nicht anders zu erwarten bei einer Sonderausstattung die fast 5000 Euro kostet. Widescreen Cockpit mit Comand Online.

Also der geht ja mal richtig straff nach vorne. Ein 350d in der S-Klasse braucht nur eine halbe Sekunde weniger auf 100 km/h. Wie war der Fahrkomfort mit der neuen Air Body Control??

Wow top ausgestattet für einen 220d. Hat sogar das Burmester High End Audio. Kostet schlappe 5800 Euro Aufpreis. Und nur mit Schiebedach bestellbar. Also 7000 Euro Aufpreis. Wahnsinn.

+Bastian Hauhut Du hast Recht, er hat 9 Gänge. Da wir in Portugal allerdings nicht wie üblich von ca. 130 bis 200 km/h beschleunigen konnten habe ich hier den 8. Gang gewählt. Bei 120 km/h liegen im 9. nämlich weniger als 1.500 U/min an.

Ich würde ja nie solch ein helles Leder nehmen. Auf die Pflege hätte ich null Lust. Viel schöner finde ich da das dunkle braune Leder oder auch das orange - braune Leder. Besser als langweiliges schwarz.

+BigMadmax91 Ich habe Leder in der gleichen Farbe in meinem 10 Jahre alten BMW. Absolut kein Problem. Sieht heute noch top aus. Musst es halt ab und zu mal abwischen und wenn du nicht ständig isst und trinkst im Auto und währenddessen was verschüttest, bleibt das auch so.

+Nairamize Das scheint von Leder zu Leder und Hersteller zu Hersteller sehr unterschiedlich zu sein. Gestern habe ich mit einem Kunden gesprochen, der einen A6 mit hellgrauem Leder fährt und dies nie wieder nehmen würde.

Gut möglich. Hängt auch stark davon ab, wer da drin sitzt (korpulent oder eher schlank) und was für ein Fahrprofil die Person hat. Das sieht man dann ganz deutlich an abgeschrammten Sitzwangen und einer durchgessenen Sitzfläche. Ich fahre fast nur Langstrecke, dementsprechend wird das Leder durch weniger Ein- und Aussteigen nicht so strapaziert.

Until about 170 to 200 km/h it goes good but after that it’s slow, the Mercedes E300 or E350d is much better.

I myself just see such a small engine in such a big and heavy car pointless and it would be more reasonable to buy the E300d or E350d when you have the money for. Both the E300d and E350d are much faster than the E220d.

Insignia diesel with 210hp 4x4 sport tourer 0-100km/h goes 7.4sec,the car wheight 1772kg without optional equipment!This mercedes wheight 1680kg and it's almost the same!

That dashboard is awful, screen has outdated interface and is extremely glossy, wtf? I would not pay that much for such interior, that is probably designed to impress Russian/Asian newly rich, not to be ergonomic and integral.

ok, but too short, just one accel. Show me more accelartion, more couters 0-100 (its ok) than 0-160 or 0-200, and moer dynamics... (like full trotle on5., or 9. gear.... act... or dislike! :-) :-)
