It's not a sports car, Mario. It's a SUV! The only thing I would agree with, is the buttons on the bottom. Other than that, I live in the mountains and I never really get over 55mph for more than 10 minutes. This car hugs curves great and is a smooth ride. I love it.

I have seen a lot of reviews on this car and every single one of them complain about the CVT and not been a fast car. I think they all forget that the purpose of the vehicle is not to be a race car but a reliable, comfortable and gas efficient family car. Also, everything he said it just WEIRD.

So you basically has only two option.. either a race car or not. But there is thing thing called 'underpowered' for car of such size. Which basically means the car uses its power to move the wait of its body. Manufacturer needs to be calculate this and tune in the transmission atleast.
@aydenrice9463
@aydenrice9463 5 лет назад
Nissan or Renault, Nissan's terrible parent company needs to make a new engine because all other manufacturer's or at least most that compete with the rogue make an engine that give you good acceleration and decent gas mileage or at least good acceleration and also get rid of all their cvt crappy transmissions and use the same ones Toyota uses Toyota uses Aisin transmissions Aisin is a subsidiary or Toyota but it's still it's own company Toyota owns like 30%of Aisin and the rouge would be a lot better car.

I just bought a 2017 Rogue SL AWD, and I find it fuel efficient, comfortable, and has plenty of space for luggage and my fishing tackle and rods. Now somethings this reviewer mentions are true about the buttons on the lower left side of the driver, but then again what vehicle is perfectly laid out for all drivers, NONE, so live with it. The pros out weight the cons. Love my Rogue.

I've driven mine cross country twice, and there are only three complaints I have: 1. The door lock button is buried under the door handle, making it hard to hit. 2. The switches are located way down low by my left knee. Kind of a dumb place to put them, like it was just an afterthought. "Oh no! We forgot some switches and there's no time to redesign the dash!" 3. Road noise. Other than that I love it. We've camped in it many times and it swallows our equipment very well. It delivers great mileage and has enough power to keep up with traffic. The CVT takes getting used to but it's not bad if you don't plan on racing.

Agree with the buttons. You use SPORT and ECO buttons WAY more than trunk release and gas cap release, why the heck would they sit inconveniently BELOW those? I havent tried it yet but u hope if I press the trunk release that the trunk doesnt actually pop on the highway lol

5:14 When I was test driving my 2017 Nissan Rogue one of the things that got my attention was the D-shaped steering wheel. I love the way it looked. Yeah, I know the Rogue isn't a sports car, but it is kind of cool to have some features that make it look sportier. I think the steering wheel sets it apart a little from all of the other similar crossovers out there. Just last week I put on some cool looking wheel covers on my car when I bought new tires. Yeah, they aren't alloy wheels, but here again, they look sporty and they were no where near as expensive as alloy wheels.

what do you expect as far as speed? This car criuses on the highway, it's quiet, and comfortable. This is my first cvt, and yes, when you punch it it revs, but you have to get used to the feel of your car, and when you do, you can and will hopefully drive it safely. My last care was a Santa Fe which had an under powered 6, but I knew it's limitations, and did not push it. The CVT is here to stay and thanks for the video, but IMHO, you are nitpicking

I am a 2017 rogue SV owner with the premium option. It's basically equipped like your sl without leather and sunroof. I ABSOLUTELY agree with everyone of your dislikes except for one ......I will trade the D shape steering wheel gripe for road noise in the REAR seats. You do not notice it up front. But I ride in the backseat a good bit. And I cannot hear conversation in the front seats. It's terrible. I am also 6'3 with the Afro and I cannot find a good driving position unless I lower the front seat all the way down to get the legroom I need. Then I feel like I am sitting in a deep bathtub. I am just very thankful that it's not my car (wife's) and I don't have to drive it! My personal car is a golf sport wagon suits me perfectly

Yep know all about rear road noise in an open SUV vis a car with a sealed trunk area. Went to HD for $16 purchased a 6" roll of sticky window sealer has aluminum one side. Removed spare tire and cut this roll to fit and lined my tire well. Then between the top of tire and bottom of shelf about 2+ inches used a packing blanket. Most of the rear noise went away and this SV has a extra noise package Nissan could improve this for sure. .

2015 Rogue SL was our first and 2017 Rogue SL is our second and only thing I wish is like he said that the heated steering wheel switch is out of easy reach and when you lock the Rouge in 4WD it kicks out at 40km and you can not lock it back up above 40 KM. Wish they would change that to a higher speed. But ride, fuel economy and yes they need to up the power and torque but you can always go to the Morano. Love love these SUVs otherwise.

(June 2020 my 2018 Nissan Rogue I drove to learn the CVT.) (FIRST DAY 8 test runs economy setting in standard drive, I noticed around half throttle functioned more consistently) (SECOND DAY SURPRISE, I found the better foundation and better characteristics. That CVT functions much better in manual mode, it has 7 shift ranges and power curves are locked in shift range sturdy and consistent) (That CVT is basically Semi-Auto, don't use Full-Auto when passing or want more performance). (Questionable is over with me, I now know how to drive the 2018 Nissan Rogue)

You may not LIKE the CVT but that doesn't mean it's bad. My preference is a manual because I like the driving experience. Conventional automatics more closely mimic a manual with defined gears but I understand how a steel belt rolling over 2 pulleys works. So. . .that is why I've kept my Versa Note for 7 years. Faultless for 7 years.

The only thing i agree on is the shifter. Why put a semi manual option that only gives you the illusion of having gears. The car over all is awesome. I have a 2018 and i had a 2015 select. My wife just got a 2016 Rogue, and there are only a couple complaints in this video I agree with. The button cluster on the left hand side is bad. It's super awkward and it's not in your line of sight, and the recessed bottom row makes for terrible ergonomics. But the CVT is fine, and there's enough power. Fair enough if you think it could be more fun, but it's not fair to say it "makes no sense," when it makes perfect sense from the standpoint of efficiency and comfort, which is what the car was designed for. Although our Rogue doesn't have the D-shaped wheel, after seeing this video, I'm glad it doesn't. Tere's plenty of clearance between the wheel and my legs, so I have to agree it sounds pretty annoying and pointless.

I personally like the car. I just think when we buy a car the dealer should demonstrate and explain all the functions and tell you what they mean and how they benefit you. They shouldn’t just hand you the manual ad tell you to figure it out. When you learn how to drive a car they don’t tell you everything. They just tell you how to operate the car. They don’t tell about all of the functions.

It's obvious you're vested in another brand. Your dislikes are weak and impertinent to 95% of buyers. The CVT is the only major issue, everything else is preference.

Mostly agree with you, but he's right about the button cluster on the left. It's extremely awkward to use, and difficult to see while driving. Personally I think the CVT is fine, and it contributes to the vehicle's fuel efficiency.

We need to use the button cluster on the left before taking it for a spin otherwise its a hazard using it while driving ,taking your eyes off the road...

The reason for the flat bottom steering wheel is for easy entering the car
@JR-jq6dd

I have to agree with you on those left buttons, very bad placement.I happen to love the beefy "D" shaped steering wheel. You talk out of both sides of your mouth on this one. This is a small suv, I don't think you will be doing any wild driving where you need a full round steering wheel, but you say that "D" steering wheels are primarily for sporty cars where you are much more likely to need the full round wheel (1954 Corvette lol). The engine power is an adequate balance between go power and economy. I usually don't hesitate to pass, but I still get respectable fuel economy (65 mph=25mpg, 50-55 mph=31mpg). The cvt is not perfect, but it is how they achieve that balance. The manual shift mode is very useful to overcome the cat's week spot, hill climbing. Using the manual shift mode, you can keep the revs. where they belong while hill climbing. In both of your reviews, good and bad, you missed theist feature. The only time the key needs to come out of your pocket is for remote start. Push the button on the door handle to unlock and to lock, push button start, push button or kick hatch open and close. Oh, and that remote start, knows to turn the heat or air conditioning on for you, depending on the weather, not how you left the controls.

Also love the D steering wheel no longer hitting my belt cell holster as I get out and lots of clearance room as you enter and exit the SUV unlike a round SW.

All Nissan 2.5 Liter engines are loud and rubber banded cause that engine has been around since mid 2000s when it was in the Nissan Altima. Now Nissan Juke and Nissan Maxima have better sounding CVTs plus much better get up go .

For the price point, the vehicles intended purpose I think it is a very good car. I love the way he talks to the camera like he's talking to NIssan LOL!! "Hey Nissan, have your people call my people and I'll fix all your problems!" Funny... BTW, my opinion, hate is such a negative word..I would've said "5 Things I don't love"

Who is this guy? I have an S with the Family Package and so far I have absolutely 0 complaints. It's not meant to be anything more then a reliable Family hauler that has adequate power and comfort. My only complaint is no Auto Lights like on other S Family Nissan products. Maybe a power seat would be nice too, tow rating could be 1500 pounds other than that it's great!

Needs a manual option, turbo, fewer gee-gaws. Touch-screen controls are universally counterintuitive and require eyes off the road attention to do things that a knob or a rocker switch could do easily.

I have owned 3 and I have had the same problem with all 3. Radio going out , seats squeaking constantly and some kind of boot around the steering shift squeeking when turning the wheel fast like a parking lot. All were brand new and warranty covered the issues. I have a 2020 now and I've had my seat replaced twice. Waiting to see if I will trade for a 2021. I but them because they are cheap transportation its not a race car. Just basic a to b

Thinks buttons are hard to see. Solution hide them in a navigation menu. Flat bottom steering wheel is hard to turn but it’s used in race cars that I guess don’t turn. I am tired of car reviews complaining about CVT’s but praising great gas mileage. How do you think it’s achieved?
@dmack1827
@dmack1827 3 месяца назад
Not a super fan of CVT transmissions. They steal power. The Rogue uses the Jeffco CVT and there are problems with them. That said, I own a 2018 and love the car. It is a CUV, not a 4x4 and not a race car. It has enough power as a daily driver. Agree on the switch position. It is a good performer in snow and ice and is a comfortable ride for a short-wheelbase CUV.

alejandro fernandez it doesn't need a 6 cylinder. And if they were to offer it, no one would buy it. When Toyota had the V6 in the RAV4, only about 5-10% of the people bought it.

The nissan rogue is a beautiful car. I own one right now at the moment and I love it! Nice video! Also, the sport option isn't necessary on a non-exit road. I really enjoy the Rogue, it's a sports van and it has a beautiful meaning to it. Goodbye!

I think you're over exaggerating. The way you riding and you're not bouncing around. Any controls placed on a vehicle will distract you from the road. Overall, it's a good bang for the buck.

I don't like how the AWD works. I do not like when you put it on AWD lock, it shuts off above 15 miles per hour. I live around hills, to tackle a couple of them you need AWD and at least 30 mph. If you don't you won't make it. If you live in the hills save yourself trouble and buy a 4x4 Jeep or at least a true AWD car (all 4 tires, all the time)
