This is so awesome to see, thank y’all for this. I have a 17’ SS myself and plan on doing Kooks LTH 1 7/8 into 3 x 2 1/2 green catted x pipe and stock mufflers BTR Stage 2 LS3 Already have the OTR intake on it but thank y’all, really!
NICE vid, thanx!! I have a 2017 Chevy SS with a 6 speed manual trans; it's a daily driver and I LOVE it !! So far the only thing I have done to my car performance wise is install a K&N drop in air filter, removed the stock "boom box" from the intake manifold and removed the rear un-monitored.cats from the exhaust system. I am thinking of installing headers, engine oil pan windage tray and light weight engine pullies. In your opinion with these mods and a mild tune is 400 - 450 horsepower range possible??
I was looking at doing the same to mine. Intake, headers and tune but leaving the exhaust stock. Just confirming that this car had a stock exhaust as well? And if you think / recommend changing the exhaust as well? I would really like to keep it stock exhaust with the original bi modal system but unsure if i should change the exhaust as well. Basically what are the pros and cons of replacing the exhaust as well. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the nice and informative little video. I have a car pretty much identical to this and I want to do the same thing you have here. It's currently stock at the moment and, similarly to you, I'm picking up a fair bit of knock retard. Do you tune the knock sensor sensitivity at all? Or do you find it eases off once you fit these basic mods? It's a little annoying, because my car is totally stock with stock timing, yet it always pulls timing under load. It's comforting to know my LS3 is not the only one doing it.
Lowering timing in some areas is the best scenerio. It will not make less Horsepower as it doesn't want that much timing. You can decrease the sensitivity some slightly, but the lowering and smoothing along with disable burst knock timing pull all help.
Unrelated question I was wondering how long I would be ok running a 3800 stall on my g8 without a trans cooler? I do have the camaro pan if that would help at all I also plan on getting a tru-cool in the future.
I would get a trans cooler on it as soon as possible. Any time that converter isnt locked up or coupled (3800+) it is making heat and the stock cooler in the radiator isn’t efficient enough to manage that.
I have a G8 also big stroker engine and built tranny and triple disk converter 3200 stall camaro pan amsoil tranny oil and I have two bigg tranny coolers on mine tranny very seldom hits 170 on hott days
While it is low, its not abnormal. Bone stock SS's dyno between there and 355 or so stock. It had a lot of spark knock which unfortunately is also not abnormal. The fact the power was good after the tune and changes, gas was probably not the issue as much as a car not happy on the stock tune.
