Michael deserves a round of applause, fantastic performance on his first TV final show. Belmo....simply a next level player. Phenomenal. Congratulations once again.

@@marshalcraft He bowled a 212... Belmo didn't need to bowl anywhere close to a perfect game. It was a great performance, but his last game he was cursed with bad carry, unfortunately. :(

Kegel had him in the training center a while back and measured his stats - variability in terms of angle of release, laydown, target at arrows, etc. He was the most accurate bowler they'd ever measured. He also throws with an avalanche of power. No kidding he's the 4 time masters champ.

I was refering www.11thframe.com/news/article/6452/Science-shows-why-Jason-Belmonte-is-becoming-the-Tiger-Woods-of-bowling Keep in mind: A) That's likely outdated B) They asked him to mix up a few shots intentionally. Looking back at it, the phrase they used was "as good as anyone we've recorded" which is bit more guarded than "best ever." But take it as you will.

Interesting to see that, in this time period, Randy does a bit more technical talk about equipment and lane play etc. Nowadays he focuses on match narratives, player style, and explication of the scoring. I know Randy catches flak from fans on his commenting content, but it seems like it might be network notes that drive what elements he's hammering home

So I decided to bowl in a league and is my first year. I used to suck at bowling before I actually used to practice. I got like a 60 every game😂. Then I got my first ball, a plastic t zone edge. Then I started getting around 110s. Then after I got an Ebonite plastic a couple weeks ago and I’ve been getting like 120s every game. Is that good? And I’m gonna be getting my first curve ball sometime between April-August. It will be a Brunswick Edge Pearl. Should I get a different ball or go with that one?

Ill tell you guys a fun story. I lived on the same street as The Orleans that year for one last week and attended most of the days of this event. I think I started attending on the second day of qualifying. I believe Michael Chang was leader at that time. On a subsequent day during the brackets I sat next to a dude as he was sitting behind the settee area. We shot the breeze a bit as people normally do waiting for bowlers to return from break to compete. His GF showed up with chicken nuggets and I got to talk to her as well and through some of the matches. I enjoyed hanging out with them, all the while originally being clueless to this guy competing in the event! I just happened to randomly be sitting behind the lanes he was about to bowl next match on. The effin dude ended up being Alex Hoskins, who at that time was a pure unknown. I sat and watch him bowl all his bracket matches from then on. I had to skip the TV finals due to the WSOP, but I saw it online later. Alex spent zero matches in the losers bracket as he gets seeded as #2 for TV finals. Each match Alex seemed to go up against a household name. It was surreal when you see his name paired against a legend, he has amazing focus though. He managed to find ways to beat each of the following players, Chris Barnes, EJ Tackett, Pete Weber, Martin Larsen before finally losing his first match in the final winners bracket against eventual tourney winner Jason Belmonte. Thats like a fricken dream come true. he fell again during the stepladder but it was still an amazing run. We wanted to see him get revenge on jason, but im ot sure anyone could beat Jason at that center. He was striking at will. I sort of knew Alex could pop up on TV again, and it didnt take all that long. Another Masters and another TV finals and he fared much better after a slow start. In the show he was a strike away from a Masters title. I just loved the fact that I went from talking to some random Joe to him being on TV twice. Best of luck to you Alex, maybe we will cross paths again or ill come get to see the Storm facility and see what fun he has there at that facility.
