Stu Williams reminds me a lot of Mike Durbin... best color commentator ever for bowling in my opinion. His knowledge of the sport combined with a true enthusiasm for the competition are a wonderful combination.
Chris really made the Honey Badger look good. But Congrads to Belmo being Belmo always making the right adjustments defiantly the front runner for Player of the Year!
Lets go jase belmo 🌹 💪🏻 is it me or is stu really great on being a commentator as well as he bowl? Great bowling insights and knowledge 🙏🏻 #2hand #stormnation #MalaysianFans
@@Charles13033 But we see Belmo with a slow approach throwing it around 15 mph here and winning which I feel like he'll be doing in 5 years when he's 40
I don't mean to poke fun, but I can't help but laugh every time I see that woman up front who looks like she's witnessing the most horrifying thing ever lol
QubicaAMF Pins 10/10, love the red instead of the pink-striped ones. Not that I dislike Brunswick Max Crown but it kinda sucks they're used exclusive for American TV events and they even swap out in-house pins for them just for the event.
I agree @Drummachine. Of all the centers I've bowled in over the years, only one of them had the ball return behind the entire approach. It's a great idea, not sure why that isn't the standard across the country. Would definitely help the bowlers who are hindered by it.
I agree. I didn't realize until I seen Butturff practicing on the right lane before the final started thinking he was standing so far left. I love that. Bowling centers need this style
Wait.. what.. Do I see wood lanes? Real wood? I remember when they closed down the house I bowled in for most of my young years and sold off lanes that were shipped to Japan.
Great to see QubicaAMF pins (especially the red instead of the pink glow version). I like the Max Crown design but it kinda sucks Brunswick has a monopoly on American PBA events.
seems like there was a low cut on for this broadcast. and i hope the audio guy looks back on this and realizes that this is not a good setting to have on for this kind of thing lol. at least not such a high cut off.
Am I the only one annoyed by the close-up camera on the pin deck? I would like to see them use that angle for re-plays. But not every single live shot. Trying to track the ball down the lane, trying to pay attention to entry angle - then BOOM, camera cut, all perspective is lost and we only see the end result. I'm only into the 7th frame of the first match and it is every single shot, including spares. Not sure i'm going to be able to watch much more.
What do you mean he was going to tell him he couldn't throw back up balls? It's warm up, there's absolutely no reason some official should be telling the number one bowler in the world how to warm up. Hell, he should be able to warm up lofting a 6 lb. pink house ball if he wants to. Ridiculous.
They're wood...I actually bowl league on wood lanes that are nearly 80 years old. You can't judge dryness of the lane based on appearance...keep in mind they have a urethane coating on them (like furniture) that gives them a glossy appearance even with zero oil on the surface. When the heads get black like these lanes though, the finish has worn off and the lanes need to be sanded down and refinished.
@@relaxingismygame3876 It seems as if the lanes changed fast. Chris was getting some high hits and high flushes on his strikes for his first game. When going against belmo, Chris's ball seemed to be deflecting and not going through right, and he was leaving more corner pins
bachcottage it definitely became evident when the urethane guys stepped in to roll (Buttruff and Svenson). First game, good. Second game, dumpster fire.
Pozzaa90 the lanes might be, as you put it, grippy, but the oil and volume of oil on the lanes require you to bowl with slower speeds. Also, like Belmo, the further left (or right for lefties) you go, the slower your ball speed has to be. If it’s too fast, it will go through your breakpoint.
Nah, they filmed the entire pba playoffs all at one time, it has been done for a while, they just release a couple matches a week and keep the results secret
ness1253 GD Flobowling lives off of subscriptions, not advertising. So they are on a shoestring budget and usually have only one commentator unless a professional bowler donates their time
What a gentleman Stu was when he could of re corrected the guy that corrected him when he said Barnes took the lead over Belmo when Stu was right u just don’t know bowling scoring dink
Stu a good commentator, while the other guy just sounds confused and forgets his lines most of the time ((that is if they used scripts lmao probably not))
Jason was throwing a back-up ball during practice. Kirk might have gotten the impression that Jason was trying to mess up Jakob Butturff's side of the lane so that he would struggle during the title match. Even though playing defense is legal, it's considered very unsportsmanlike.
crap Jakob gets the bucket in the 2nd frame and then leaves 1 pin,..seems like Jakob is only 1 frame away ; from beating Belmo tho', happy birthday Jakob
If he made that he would have had 225. No guarantee Belmo still throws 6 on that fill ball in the 10th but yea, going on raw scores, an open frame in title games cost Jakob 3 PBA titles that year (Hall of Fame tournament, World Championship and this Japan invitational). Hell one of the titles he did win that year he had an open frame, but he had 11 strikes so it made up for it lol (and Jesper leaving a couple splits helped heh). This isn't me being critical. Jakob could bowl circles around me all day long 😄 just an observation I'm pointing out.
Butturff is going to be haunted by having 1 open frame in matches vs Belmo - the World Championship and now the Japan Invitational. Also would of been having deja vu when he almost missed the 7 pin. But yes Well Done Belmo - AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI !!!!!
simonsen is a good bowler but his attitude and childish ways unless he changes will never make him a GOAT, hopefully Jesper can start putting it together and give Jakob and Belmo a run for their money.
How unprofessional these commentators were to say “wipe his ass” while Jacob was warming up for the match with Belmo. How embarrassing, especially in a match in Japan.
