Czech: Krásné, čisté, autentické. Čím byl Puccini starší, tím lépe věděl, co přesně chce svou hudbou říci..., čeho docílit..., už se nezdržoval "omáčkou" kolem a šel přímo na věc... a jeho hudba už takřka korespondovala s hudbou filmovou - ovšem na nejvyšší a těžko překonatelné úrovni! Je to krása, drama, emoce.... Síla!!! Rocková opera!!! Toto představení je nádherné. Díky!
YES! This is a most wonderful performance! Puccini only managed to compose the opera until "Liù's death". That is why, when Toscanini conducted is at Milan La Scala (April 25, 1926), he made a pause after saying towards the audience something like while laying down his baton: "Ladies and Gentlemen, here Giacomo Puccini stopped". Then Toscanini resumed it...". He was mentioning that owing to Puccini's death (1924) the conclusion (1926) belonged to Franco Alfano, although the general opera's themes were respected. Did Puccini would agree with this ending? We never know. But one thing we may understand: "Liù's death" towards the opera's finale was pushed to a far 2nd plane. What was important was the full happiness of Calàf with Turandot... shame...!!! I saw this Opera in which the final has no musical climax, because both Calàf and Turandot are seen cleaning Liù´s corpse... and the Opera ends there! Perhaps that way would correspond more to the wishes of Puccini as well as of Toscanini, bearing in mind the sad conclusions of his precedent Operas. If it was I, I'll do this way: the musical final is really outstanding and should be kept; but, after it, Calàf would refuse to become engaged to Turandot. Therefore, he, his father and Liù's corpse would leave Beijing for ever, rejecting Turandot washed in her own maleficent tears. Maybe, this would be the way followed by Puccini's.
Actually, Toscanini did not resume. Alfano's finale was not played until the second show. The plot of the ending would also likely not have changed, as the libretto had already been written. Puccini had problems with the text of the final duet, but there is no reason he should have requested a complete change of plot.
Your comments are incorrect. Puccini left 36 pages of sketches, some complete, which Alfano used in both of his completions. The first sketch begins at rehearsal 35 (56 measures). The second sketch, rehearsal 39 (23 measures). Rehearsal 42, 5 measures, and rehearsal 46, 11 measures. Puccini also sketched the beautiful theme used at rehearsal 41, which Alfano used to great effect in Turandot's aria. Everything after Calaf's revelation of his name constitutes Alfano's adaptation of music earlier in the opera. Toscanini objected to Alfano's longer first completion because he had omitted some of Puccini's own music and wrote his own music instead. And he made unnecessary changes to Puccini's viable sketches. The published score is far closer to Puccini's sketches, although the longer first completion may be more dramatically convincing.
Großartig gesungen, great singing and performing the characters of Turandot and Kalaf! A nice done Liu and so charming Ping, Pang and Pong, I love this performance! Thank you for posting!💥💫💌💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐 Who is singing Turandot and Liu?
Turandot- it's a man's music... Here's a story: Back in the second season of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the conductor, Anton Guadagno, was rehearsing the 3rd Act. And he made these high frequency kissing sounds to get the orchestra's attention... And then suddenly, he stopped and said, "This is the place where the master died. And... and all the rest is like... like Christ without the beard." (in reference to the Dali painting)
I like the performance although the noise of the polished floor îs disturbing . Fine Voices and beautiful costumes in this opera about China performed by chinese artists . Congratulations I enjoyed IT
@@kilencimola9507 what do you mean 'problem'? What I am saying is that Hong Kong Philharmonic profession level is so low that they need to improve themself, starting on some more manageble musical pieces. Not Turandot for sure, it is a very demanding opera, far beyond Hong Kong Philharmonic professional reach.
You deaf ? Spinto as they make them ! You probably don’t even know the difference ! you probably can’t make sound yourself ! Get out of here! No one needs your opinions ! get a life !
Coro meio amador….un Calaf gritador…uma Turandot de timbre ácido…uma orquestra sem sutileza e de som meio fanfarra… E esse final do Alfano ficou parecendo o fim da Carmina Burana. O do Berio é mil vezes melhor !….
Eee gads. This is the best that can be had with combined resources of Hong Kong AND NYCO? The production is hokey and the singing is third-rate. The Turandot at least sings in tune on occasion but she's a hyped up lyric. The Liu and Timur sing right from the throat, and the tenor is just dreadful. He's not as bad as Yusif Eyvazov, but that's no compliment.
