Hi, Audi Q5 is in my list. Never had driven or owned German Cars before. It scares me about maintenance cost! Can you please share some thoughts on Maintenance cost? For example what is the cost of Oil change ? Cost of break job? Or in general maintenance cost. Thank you
I own Audi Q5. I really regret it. Always mechanical issues and cost is so high because just 7 months before service contract finished. Then in last 7 months i paid nearly 14,000 AED to drive the car and still have many issues. Car is not at all relaiable. Go for Lexus or Benz.
I own Audi Q5. After service contract the car will come up with lots of issues. And cost is really high to fix. I really regret owning Audi Q5. Even doing service from Audi every 2 months new mechanical issues and car will stuck on the road. I will sell it soon and will never buy Audi again.
Nice location for a test drive. I’ve had the Canadian Q5 “Technique” model since last July and love it. The technique adds low level fog lights into the front side grill you question. It also has the 3D map in the instrument cluster that gives that extra situation awareness. This feature was the key attraction for buying a new vehicle and I haven’t regretted for one minute. I also opted for the head up display and urban cruise control options that used carefully take the stress out of driving in commuter traffic and long haul driving. I am looking to Audi for an update to its road sign speed limit recognition software for states and provinces that have min and max speed limits displayed. Quite often it will read the minimum speed limit and adjust the target speed to that. Fortunately the accelerator will override the target speed so you have time to readjust the target back to the real speed limit. Just after mine was ordered in March 2017 Audi released the highway driver assist option that I believe would further reduce workload during long haul drives. I noticed the Canadian version does not have the Audi illumination on the ground which would have been nice. As you discuss in the video the 2.0 turbo performance is quite something. After downsizing from a 3.5 Honda Pilot the kick is noticeable from the engine and drivetrain set up. The all wheel drive feel on snow covered roads and also dry roads is very different to the Honda - Very impressive. One small niggle I have are the wipers in snow conditions. Quite often ice will build under the blade in winter that lifts a section of the blade from the windscreen leaving streaks. There has not been a day when I didn’t enjoy getting into the 2018 Q5.
Great job. Love the new Q5! Had it for almost three weeks as a loaner, while our '17 Q7 was in the shop. Its a great car. I agree with almost everything you said, besides the part about the last gen being more like an A4 than this generation. If anything, I see more similarities between the new A4 and the Q5 than I did with the last gens. It has basically the same drivetrain, and a lot of the same interior components/level of fit and finish.
Great review!! Thank you for posting this video. I've been searching for a good test drive video of the 2018 Q5 and this was exactly what I was looking for. I just ordered my Q5 over week ago and eagerly waiting for it's arrival come July. I was almost regretting my choice of not going with the SQ5 model but the price point was just a little over my budget. Thankfully this video has given me a peace of mind. It seems like a pretty quick ride and I'm looking forward to having some fun with mine when it comes in.
Hey guys, I really enjoyed your review. You guys have got to get behind the wheel of the new SQ5! I have just sold my 2014 SQ5, and am awaiting my new one. Anyway, best of luck with your channel. I'm your 5th subscriber!
Hey man, great review. I just want to ask about your car´s options. Which do you have now and you recommend getting. Are there any option you regret not getting?
Like the review, just traded a 15 for an 18, the trip paddles located on wheel are much better & handles great specially on the Westport & Fairfield roads, good job w/video!!
Hey J&C Mileage, could you give any insights to how the car feels when your not pushing it very hard in day to day driving? Specifically under light throttle around town does it feel like a FWD car just with really good grip and obviously no wheel slip with ultra or does it feel more like the X3 or Q5's of old with 60% going to the back at all times, or the GLC with 55% going to the back at all times which really give the cars a feeling of it being pushed forward opposed to being pulled like normal mainstream AWD cars.... Thanks for your insight!
Great review. How is Apple CarPlay via the MMI? I imagine it would be cumbersome since it's not a touchscreen. I presume the new BMW X.3 will have a touchscreen for the Apple CarPlay.
hey hows is the driving on highways? I drive a lot for my work mostly on the interstate highways going 80 to 90mph. hows the wind noise at that speed, is the cabin quiet at those high speeds? thanks for any response.
7700778737 you are talking shit. The cars is just so quiet you would be surprised . Yes you can hear Litlle tyre noise but that’s because the car is so quiet but no wind noise at all
I totally agree with you about "rear diffusers", I mean they look great when they have a great big exhaust pipe inside of them, but not when the exhaust is behind and facing downwards (Hello Mercedes too) :) Absolutely agree with you about the identity crisis on those closed plastic vents at the front! Surely it wouldn't have killed the budget to put a really nice pair of spot lights there! 🙄. (Moan over), the Q5 Quattro is a lovely car to drive :). Thanks for a great review. 👍🏽
Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback! I expected this video to get around 20 views so to see it around 6000 is both a huge surprise and very exciting. Hope we can continue doing this and keep making better and better videos. Cheers!
Apologies if this was already asked, but I can't seem to get the hands-free trunk release to work. I have the same car shown in the video... any help would be appreciated!
I found the same issue at a test drive yesterday, but there was a hitch attached underneath that car. Did you get it to work or still facing the issue?
Love cars ...car reviews and Audis. But thanks for the shout out warning people to be careful of cyclists on the road. I love riding my bike as much as driving my Audi Q5 ...... but everyone needs to be extra aware of us defenseless cyclists out there trying to get our daily workout. Living at altitude in the mountains I would opt for the power of an SQ5 .... so would have to rob a bank before going to the dealership. cheers, BW
The after market boy's need to develop a workable rear exhaust tip that allows the exhaust to be routed out the bumper like a real vehicle ! After Hurricane Harvey wouldn't buy a 55k vehicle with the exhaust pointed down towards the FLOOD WATERS ? Come on Audi , ask your Service Advisor of Central Audi of Houston if I am correct !
If I had a Q5, I would make sure to get Audi's gray wood inlays, not that tacky brown wood. The brown wood just feels so fake and generic for premium cars.
The biggest concern with audi is engine oil consumption. some say German cars should only be leased within warranty period, owning German cars is a mistake. Don't know if new audi could change people's mind or not.
I want my Audi Q5 TDI built in Mexico.. cheaper to transport to the US. Germans know mexican manufacturing is top notch. Another reason why its one of the top countries for manufacturing aerospace and jet engines. Just my 5 cents.
