Enjoyable vid, thanks! The fake exhaust - Acura tried it and are now bringing back proper exhausts. Audi should have learned from that faux pas. Also - thanks for sharing some Victoria scenery. It's gorgeous out there!

For those who buy this thing it is highly recommended that they install an aftermarket exhaust. Companies out there will be working on that. Other than that, I really like the new SQ5.

The segment when you are standing in front of the Audi seriously looks like a green screen so beautiful.

I currently have approx. 1600 miles on it and love the power, room, fit & finish, handling, interior and exterior! I have used it to tow my 3 seat jet ski and haul two large kayaks on the roof. It is a fun SUV! The exhaust tip outlet fascia took some getting used to. But, I love the sound of the exhaust in Dynamic mode with the overrun blips. And I do not have to worry about the constant cleaning of the dual exhausts tips. Oh, and the Bang and Olufsen sound system is worth every penny!

I was debating between the S4 and SQ5 prior to them being released. Once I saw the fake exhausts on the SQ5 were confirmed and the S4 had real QUAD exhausts, the decision was easy. I've had an S4 since late March and love it.

Fake exhaust outlets in a "performance" cross-over... lame AF. The exhaust sounds nice though.

I have a 2018 SQ5 and 2016 Porsche Macan S. Even with the fake exhaust ports, the SQ5 sounds great. Both are excellent SUV’s. I really enjoy the exhaust note on the SQ5.

I own a 2015 SQ5. I have to say that its the best little SUV I have ever owned. I love the way my REAL exhaust tailpipes look. The fake ones would make me consider something else. Maybe a Porsche macan Turbo S.

I have a 2015 SQ5 for my wife and I like it a lot. I wouldn't upgrade to the new version until BO is released and they have some aftermarket solutions for that fake exhaust. This needs true quad exhaust tips

I don't know why people complain about fake exhaust ... It is less items on the car to clean regularly to keep it in good look.

I agree about the exhaust 100%, although I think I understand why Audi did this. Most performance car/CUV/etc. exhaust tips I see are filthy, due to most engines being DI these days, so maybe they figured SQ5 owners didn't want to be bothered to clean them regularly? Discuss...

For the price, the new 2018 SQ5 is a good deal compared to some other crossovers in the segment. It even looks nicer and edgier without being too edgy.

Actually the tailpipes is a good idea. This car is extravagant compared to normal version. I don't want to look that way. When someone sees the car and says "oh is this the v6 engine?" I can easily say, "no, don't be fooled by the tailpipes, they are fake, this is a hybrid (if I want to appear eco friendly) or this is the base 1.4l model" if I want to be modest.

Have to say that I'm not a fan of those fake exhausts. It sounds just fine but wish it would come out the back in a normal fashion. I wonder if it could be altered to do so if you were to get an aftermarket exhaust put on.

I love everything about the new Audis except the exhaust tips and the absence of a manual transmission on the S, RS cars.

The interior is first class. The fake exhaust is a definite no.

I know the exhaust tips are fake, but is it at least a dual exhaust or single? If it is single with dual fake outlets, then the SQ5 is no longer made for the true car enthusiast. I had the previous generation, and it was a great vehicle, this one misses the mark completely.

An A4 wagon or allroad actually has more interior space than the Q5 and gets better fuel economy. The S/Q5 is about the slightly better offroad capability and the fact that the S4 wagon is no longer sold in the US, so for the engine.

i have mixed feelings on the exhaust but it's probably nice to not have to clean the exhaust tips.

Question why they have that plastic cover one the engine? Is that to keep the turbo cool or something?

Looks like were going to see a lot of modified quad dual exhaust for this thing, sucks that you need to do that for a 65k price tag.

I think to be fair you should have at least mentioned the incredibly jarring turbo lag in the new SQ5. I noticed you spooled up the turbo to ease the lag in your 0-60 test, but in a daily drive, that won’t always be possible when overtaking another vehicle etc. It’s quick, and handles beautifully but they should consider a slightly smaller turbo. The lag utterly destroys what is a phenomenal vehicle.

The fake exhaust is pretty bad BUT as an S5 owner, the shiny tips turn black regularly so that problem would be non-existent on this.

Fakery makes it seem fraudulent. Makes you wonder what else is behind the scenes. A few motorcycle companies put fake plastic fins on their motors to look like old school air cooled models - just a dumb idea all around. A clean lower valance would have done the trick.

I have had two previous model SQ5's. I love my current one. I drove a new one, but was underwhelmed by all of the cheap options Audi decided to go with. Besides the obvious exhaust issue (which the S4 & S5 don't cheap out on), I noticed the plastic at the base of the windshield, around the wiper shafts, is paper thin. My lower control arms are think cast pieces, while the new ones are thin aluminum beams. They just look so cheap compared to mine. Finally, with all of these cost saving designs Audi decided to go with, they are now made in Mexico! WTF?? Cheaper labor, cheaper parts, cheaper delivery, yet the price still went up. Greedy much? As I said, I love mine, but if I want to get a new one, I'll have to wait for the gen-3's. Maybe they won't suck.

Beautiful vehicle. I can't stand the x-exhaust panels. Acura did the same thing on the RDX and MDX. It doesn't work for them either.

If Audi is going to use the bumper trim style exhausts, they could have at least had the pipe exhaust pipe pointing outwards rather than downwards. It looks awful with those black plastic pieces that supposed to mimic holes.

The seals sound exactly like the exhaust.

I picked up a 2017 yesterday. White with Optic Package fully loaded for 52k which is an amazing deal. They also gave me all the Audi loyality stuff and gave us a good deal on our trade 2015 Q5. They had two 2018 SQ5 's and drove a new 2018 Q5 and im not loking the styling both int and ext. The fake exhaust looks cheap and the infotainment screen on the dash looks horrible. It doesnt fold down, its just there... Maybe some lite changes will be made in later models.

The exhaust pipes are for exhaust note and appearance. It is unnecessarily insulting to put fake exhaust on such a premium car. Especially when the fake exhaust look so good. It's like meeting a girl with the most beautiful eyes and then find out they are fake.

That exhaust sucks! And there's no black optic package.. BS. I was actually going to buy one based on the previous model, but then saw the new exhaust, lack of customization options, etc. and decided to go with an X5.
