I watched this video 4 years ago and it started my love for the CS. I always dreamed of owning it one day however never thought I would because of rarity and the price. Fast forward four years later I got my dream car. Thank you fellas for introducing me to this car and my journey to owning one finally. I look forward to driving my CS!!!
@@MocktailPleasestill loving it. I have only driven it for 3k miles and stored it for winter. Been counting the days until I can drive it again. It’s been a blast and absolutely love it. I plan on taking it to tail of the dragon if I can. Good luck on your search. You will love it.
No hating on any other car reviewers out there, but you might disrupt the "reviewing industry" with this duo action you guys have. It's like being with your best buddy reviewing cars. Not to mention how well informed about the technical aspects of every single car you guys are. It feels honest, and that's what matters. Sometimes some reviews from other people feel generic and don't help at all. With you guys I know if I will or will not buy a car by the end of the video. Keep up this awesome channel you guys!
The price is crazy, but this car is crazy too. I would expect a 10-15K bump from the regular M3 to the CS, but 50K is a lot. It's a good looking car and sounds wild. You guys put in a lot of effort in the graphics for this review. Yuri's hands in the seat made me laugh, lots of good stuff in this review.
@@archer7716 ....uhm...you said it...not me...but seriously..they had 4 years to catch up to the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quad and this is what they produced ? Meh.......
I think this car is a perfect example of where the consumer can take a little control back. When the CS was released many, even M3 enthusiasts, thought it was overpriced for what you get. Although it was considered by many to be a very special car. Well, because of the huge price tag vs perceived value, these sat on lots forever. Eventually dealers/manufacturer were forced to give big discounts to move the CS, making it a better value. Glad I waited and was able to score a really good deal, one that better aligns with what you get with the car vs other trims of the M3/4. 👍🏼😊. Great review, BTW. This video helped me decide that I really NEEDED the CS!
@@mehimre9249 It doesn't. I have a german source. The CS stands for "Competition Sport", because the package, which is ecxclusive to the car, is the competition package.
Spot-on Jakub for the sketchy boost delivery mid-corner! This, I think, explains why it isn't quite as composed as the 991 driving hard around the turns, despite that car having the engine at the back, which should actually make it more tail-happy. The turbos are probably not as tractable as the Porsche, given this is one of BMW M's first attempts at forced induction and 911s have had 'snails' since the mid-'70s, so they've had way more experience to get it right. The next M3 should be quite awesome, picking up from where this will leave off.
The editing on these videos is so smart. How you use the audio of you guys talking on the shots of the single drives, giving the illusion it’s while you guys drive and talk is pure genius. Well done.
And it DEFINITELY won’t age well. I think in 5 years we’re gonna look at this color like we do at smoking indoors in old movies and say ”concrete gray: what were we thinking?”
I"m really a Big fan of German cars this m3(cs) so sizzling the Front Bumper and Led Lights also the paint means there are good craftsman, the m3(cs) got advance M power Go up BMW!!! Keep it BMW!!!
Don’t wish, put it into play. Or else you’ll be like every body else wishing they could have something or experience it. You got one life brutha, go get this car and chase your dreams!
I went on the track in my 370z and one of these were there, good god they’re fast around the corners and the straight especially with the carbon ceramics because they can brake so late. I will own maybe not a CS but definitely a competition version of this.
I own a 2018 M4CS in San Marino Blue, with the Ceramic brakes, GTS gearbox Flash, extended carbon interior and basically every extra possible. I bought this after owning an M140I Shadow, and this thing is just mental. The sheer noise is bananas, and the torque guarantees wild wheel spin in the first four gears on cold tarmac (I live in northern England). The transmission is so terrible around town, so I just avoid driving in town. Thank you chaps.
Didn’t read through all the comments to see if someone noticed but.... sorry to say those are not the carbon ceramic brakes! Carbon ceramics are 6 piston front and four piston rear with gold colored calipers.
Yep I have the same on my m3 Comp...they're the standard brakes not the CC. Still very good and actually better in day to day use. Just not so much on the track due to eventual fade
A great compromise is the M3 Competition Pack. You get the same racey seats and the same fantastic exhaust as the CS, with a bit more power and a nicer bodykit and wheels than the normal M3, all for just a few thou more than the standard, rather than the many many thousand for the CS. The CS really is more of a 'grail' in the M3 lineup, but if you want a more wallet friendly alternative that's still beefier version than the standard, comp pack is a no brainer
The only difference is 10 hp, some alcantara that looks crappy by now in 2021, and ever so sightly lighter. The competition pack isn't really a compromise, it's the same car.
Well, good job guys, I really like your reviews. really dynamics, fun and on point. Three things though: Yes CS stand for ClubSport. No there is no Fuel Gage fail because an arrow is missing. The fuel cap side is indicated by the Hose. When there is no "arrow" the side of the "Hose nozzle" is indicating which side is located the fuel cap. And Finally regarding the 911 GT2 RS review, there is no Roll cage in Canada because of regulations. Nothing is allowed in Canadian cockpit that could cause harm to the head. In other words you could hit your head ( Trauma ) without a helmet on a Roll cage. So, Canadian regulations have forbidden those. Keep the good work guys !
most enthusiastic enthusiast reviewers on YT. Very enjoyable as always. More of this! Oh and I kind of agree with both of you: the CS is too expensive, but BMW will sell them all at that price, so it isn't. The high-end car paradox.
When I first get my M3, I was disappointed because it failed the visor test, but then I realize why bmw did it, it’s a sedan! the visor covers the whole window even it doesn’t extend
BMW M4 CS My next car on order!!! After having a E46 M3 this will be my next baby but in a coupe M4 version. I'm a bimmer fanatic guys so I had to get this M4 CS. absolutely love the dam thing
The 2018 BMW M3 CS was officially released in early 2017, with its market debut in early 2018. The "CS" in the model name stands for "Club Sport," indicating a more focused, high-performance version of the standard M3. The M3 CS features enhancements such as increased power, improved handling, and lighter materials to offer a more dynamic driving experience compared to the standard M3 model.
I have driven normal F80:s several times and only driven an M3 CS for 5 minutes and I can say: those cars almost have nothing in common. This CS is a crazy bastard, it so hard you feel almost driving without suspension. And the engine has MUCH more power in compared to the normal M3 than 20-30 hp. I drove the F90 M5 weeks ago and thats a fantastic car but if I would have to choose between these two, it would not even be a contest. For me the M3 CS is the best car I have ever driven and the price difference of 50k is more than justified. I hope I could own one of these someday......
Wow a call out from the StraightPipers!!! That’s AWESOME!!! I think it may depend on model/option packages. I’ve got one with every option so it’s possible it’s part of one of them.
I fell in love with the CS in 2019 when I picked my M140i up from the dealership. Last year my wife got the "all clear" after her cancer treatment on a Tuesday, and I collected my M4CS on the Wednesday. Carbon brakes and every possible extra, in San Marino blue. Just go for it my friend, you will certainly not be disappointed.
This may have been said but you DO need to drive 10KM or 6 miles because though the engine oil and coolant may reach operating temp in a few minutes the the Rear Diff and Transmission will still be cold, especially the Diff which takes a good while. Just a headsup for the performance car owners.
With regards to the gas gauge test, it did pass. The hose is shown on the right of the pump logo, hence its on the right. Maybe a Euro thing but if it was in the left it the hose would be on the left of the pump - not Euro many cars have arrows. Great review, properly entertaining.
Hey guys, great review as always. As for the gas gauge test. Sometimes european cars dont have an arrow showing which side the fuel cap is on but instead you can look which side the fuel hose is on the logo. Like in this case its hooked up on the right side, so the fuel cap is on the right side ;)
A Great Review as always 😍 You guys never disappoint and the thing which makes you unique is you guys review each car for what it is unlike others who want every car to be a LaFerrari 😁
On the gas gauge icon, the side of the pump that the hose and nozzle are on are the same as the fill opening in the car. So in this car and I think pretty much every bmw for decades now, the opening is on the right
You have to tap the accelerator in first to engage slow speed gas. Perhaps read the manual or talk to the dealer/owner before offing it as a negative on the car
Rareness is a factor, sure. The factor equating to 50k Canadian is redonkulous. Supply and Demand will always win though. I'm sure people with more money than brains will buy these up.
How is the sound system? And IMO $100K is fair but it should come with Ceramics and virtually every upgrade available as Standard for that price. The New F90 M5's are right around 110K so the CS M3s should stay below that price.
Coming from a Honda guy who went BMW.......it’s like night and day. Owned a E90 Manual and when that thing broke loose on me in the rain..... scared me straight. Got me a X3 M40i now and it’s the perfect balance of power and control. Too much power and lack of skill will kill. Be safe people, use your heads or you’ll lose it.
Victor Tsai I think this is the best definition of CS. Others saying Club or Competition, does it really matter? BMW is charging a lot more for it no matter what those two letters mean.
I believe "CS" is supposed to mean "Carbon Sport". When the E46 M3 CSL was released, that was short for "Carbon Sport Lightweight" and they decided to take off the "L" in the later models. :)
Ur hate regarding the gear box, bmw has something I think it’s call stepped tronic on DCT. You tap the accelerator slightly and let off and the car slowly gets the car moving then u hit the pedal. A lot of people don’t know that. That’s why sometimes for people it’s hit and miss and that’s why u get that feeling like it’s rolling back or jerking. Thank me later. Do that and it’ll never jerk and give you that weird rolling sensation.
David Hallberg ... how did the Germans make a sedan and call it a Coupe?? LOL Maybe, it's in keeping with the terrible and confusing Naming Convention of the 2, 3, 4, 5, etc Series. Thinking the Germans have confused themselves even!! LOL LOL
You cant take two different abbreviations and claim they mean the same thing because they share two letters. CSL is one thing. CS is something different.
So the 2020 M Pure coming out pulls the same 454bhp, Stick, rear wheel and it suppose to be the cheapest of the Ms....so its basically same car(CS) with new body right, probably same handling or better?......i will bet my left nut its going to start much cheaper say early late 60s early 70s US? I will wait to buy that.
The M3CS is a throwback to the E46 M3 CSL. Its for true collectors who are gonna buy it regardless of how much it costs. However i did think it would be given more than 26 horsepower than a normal M3, or if you look at the M3 competition its only 6 horsepower more
Being both the PDK and DCT driver, I don’t think PDK is better. Yes the DCT is jerky, but it’s a racing transmission. And there is a way to accelerate without lunging forward.
7:52 Transmission settings: Level 1: the car will shift as soon as possible and you will lug along at 1000-1200rpm and very reluctant to shift down. Level 2: keeps the gears until around 4000rpm then changes, even if you try to force a change by lifting. Also, you drive mostly at around 2500-3000rpm. Level 3: I guess it's near manual, will change only at red line and will downshift if you go under 3000rpm. Touch the paddles and you go into manual mode which will not default back. You need to push the stick to the right to get of manual.
Level three shifts at around 3k rpm and I never use lvl2 and lvl1 shift at around 1.5-2k, if you go flat out either mode it shifts at red line. Manual mode won’t up shift but will down shift for you to prevent stalling. I don’t know where you got your info from...
The reason why the car jerks is because the dct transmission is like a manual. You need to blip the throttle a little before you start going and it is always smooth. Look it up.
My 340i does the same thing where it jerks off the line driving around town. What u do is put it in manual and drive from 2nd gear if u r not going to drive fastish.
