Bmw 7 series over the top? Massage and reclining seats is over the top? That’s all I needed to hear to know she doesn’t know what she’s talking about and know nothing about the history and owning bmw 7 series sedans.
She even said that the engine on this BMW was too strong and over the top. When have you ever in your life heard that an engine inside of a BMW was too strong and over the top?? That’s insane. I guess she would say the same thing for bmw M3 and M5.
If you're evaluating "winter beaters" you should drive them in a few inches of snow and on glare ice to see which one handles real winter conditions better. I realize it would mostly depend on the tires, but I'm curious how the stability controls handles these conditions with rear wheel steering. Does it make it worse, better or does it adapt to the conditions and speeds? That would have been nice to see.
Denis LeBlanc completely different but could crash my x5 unless I tried in the show. Have crest continentals on it. Plows through deep snow too. Haven’t had an issue with the traction control systems in it.
Manufactured Goods Enthusiast I think I can do both. I mean I will not hire a driver because I really like to drive my cars but surely I will give it a try.
Compared to the kind of content that this team puts out; this video feels kind of forced. There is no enthusiasm. Although Me and my opinion are completely irrelevant, I’m still allowed to voice it.
Zion Israel I've got the Panamera on our list of future acquisitions too. My baby girl talked me into acquiring one. Why not have the best of both worlds? It doesn't hurt.
Unfortunately I detect a lot of misogynist commentary here, some of it blatantly mistaken (claiming that the reviewer did not know the BMW had rearwheel drive when she said it multiple times). The review was perfectly fine given the context and theme: gearheads should not look to four-minute videos for their tech fix. Spoiler alert, I am the rabidly happy owner of a 2016 Porsche Panamera GTS but sincerely believe most BMWs have lost their way (in the sense that the developer of the original 2002 would be turning in his grave). Synthesized sound anyone?
She just said that they are aimed at different people which explains why bmw took the approach they did that bmw was not designed from bmw to complete with the porcsche as much as it was designed to compete with the Mercedes Benz S65. BMW’s have always been tech driven cars it’s in their DNA. I would choose the bmw over that station wagon Porsche
No lady, the screens back there SHOULD NOT be touch screens.. Touchscreens should only be on phones and or tablets... Screens which are installed on surfaces look TERRIBLE as touch screens, all covered in greasy fingerprints and smudges..
Nice review........ a bit nag tho.... but good.... Nice cars, love the V12, but I'm surprised that it "only" puts out 590pft, while my 13 year old S65 AMG V12 with 10 more hp and 0.6L less engine volume than the BMW puts out 738pft.... that's almost 150pft diff.... anyway.... I love it... The Porsche on the other hand, well.... it's more sports than luxury, and more "in your face" than the more subtle BMW... the Porsche screams for attention, while the BMW (or the S65) kinda says it all.
Thank you! :) I live in Sweden, and there are five S65's listed in the entire country, and I'm the only one owning the W220 model :) Feel free to check it out on FB page AMG of Sweden. Regards.
not at all! speaking about w220 S65, currently, there is only one car for sale in the whole of europe (according to autoscout)... newer generations are also rare with a v12. i'll gladly check it out, thanks for the info... :) regards
I am both a bmw and a porsche driver. What the Fxxk is wrong with this review? Better off mute the video and just watch the car. I love both of those cars, but this review did not serve it justice what so ever.
The BMW is over the top? How. Bmw had a bland interior before, so they amped it up now it’s too much? This is their flagship Sedan 😂🤦🏽♂️ Porsche had a ton of bottoms now they toned it down and that’s better?
CandyMan I wouldn't give VAG a nickel. Since they sell 4X BMW's volume I would never compare them. Curious to see what BMW's 1st fwd. hatch will be like, Golf bores me. Friend's original Rabbit was fun to drive.
I know economy is something owners wouldn’t really care about in this class of car. But the Panamera Hybrid option is worth considering. Some cities charge for big motors and the better fuel economy and range help in a Grand Tourer
No it's not a different class, but I don't think that the M5 V8 4.4L 600 hp is a much more powerful than this V12 6.6L 600 hp beast maybe would be just an half a second quicker from 0-60/0-100 but that's only because this monster is heavy almost 2.5 tons...
Very poor review. First of all, these two cars aren't in the same class, to make it a fair comparison. Then, she mentions that the "Panamera just handles better because it is a Porsche." Well, I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that it is a Porsche, that it handles better. It is because the BMW 760Li is a much bigger and heavier car. She never mentioned that this might have something to do with it. A better comparison would be the Panamera Turbo SE vs the BMW 760Li, or the Panamera Turbo vs the New BMW M5. Do either of these comparisions and then talk to me, woman!
Direct Reply Even so, these two vehicles aren't exactly in the same class. So this isn't a fair comparison. The Panamera turbo is in the same class as the BMW M5/M6 Gran Coupe, Audi RS7, and Mercedes Benz E63, etc. And the BMW 760Li competes with the S63/65, Audi S8, and Porsche Panamera Turbo SE, etc.
jaguarjaonzz Doesn't the 7 have more in common with a Rolls? If you want a V12 in the VAG you'll have to wait for a Bentley. Not even then, wtf is a W12? 2 VW 6's?
James Shuster I think you are talking about the screen, but honestly, you were gonna take your eyes off the road either way. Plus all those stuck on screen, from mazda, bmw and others, they look weirder the older the car gets. 20 years from now the Porsche will be fine wine, and the bmw will be an unaffordable fixer-upper with a long abandoned style where as Porsche has shown design integrity and dedication to design evolution
Farouq Lule Selling rebadged VAG sedans & SUVs at an inflated price is not fine or wine. Integrity? Hah! Are you a corporate shill? Apparently they're not going to coupe this platform @ Porsche because it would cannibalize the upcoming Continental, yet another inflated rebadge.
How many animals are tortured and mass slaughtered in U.S. food industry(watch Food Inc)? You know you killed more animals than China right? Killing or eating dogs is never a mainstream in China but i don't give a dame doing so. You eat cow, which is a sacred figure in India and did you ever care?
1... Jodi is super cute..... 2... Porsche because resale.... 3... I'd buy a Kia Stinger 3.3T because I'm "poor"... 4 .. your thoughts?.. not gonna reply but hey its all good.... let her rip.... dot dot dot.... ... ...
Miguel Ircontar Exactly, they don't focus on selling to people who need a radical design change with every model because they know that from an engineering standpoint this shape is more or less perfect. They would rather build technically superior cars than attract superficial people who buy purely based on wow factor and that is why they are awesome and you should not buy one until you understand what a car is truly about.
The 7 series is no longer a driver's car, they have focused more on luxury to compete with the S class. The Panamera is the opposite, they want give u just enough luxury while remaining a driver's car. So one is a luxury cruiser and the other is a luxury sports sedan. Two different customer base, but can also be cross shopped by some. Therefore stop getting your panties in a bunch and complaining about her review. By the way for those arguing over looks, I'm sorry but Mercedes wins in the department. The 7 series is not a great looking car sorry.
This review is like those budget car practicality reviews. Those who buy these they for sure are not buying them for how practical the boot is or how much of a sports car they are. If they need a sports car they will get a proper sports car.
If you want "EXECUTIVE SEDAN" Buy the Porsche Panamera Turbo "Executive" addition. Porsche Blows BMW out of the water. I've driven them all. I own 2 Porsche Turbos now. Promise you. Porsche wins hands down
Was that even the executive Panamera? If so yes this a good comparison. 5 series, really? This is an executive sports car comparison. 12 cylinders? What is this 2005? Okay video, I was expecting more about the executive features and ride experience.
Your review is not only a disservice to both BMW and Porsche, but most importantly your viewers. (I’m not a BMW guy). The BMW M760LI - is a Long Wheel base vehicle. The Porsche Turbo has a much smaller interior. Of course it will handle better (cornering) and I would bet be better in the snow, generally speaking. However, the V12 engine is worth its wait in gold. For the weight and size of the vehicle it truly is an impressive monster, significantly outperforming the Turbo 0- 60, 3.7S vs 4.3S.. This car was made to compete against the S AMG along with a lacklustre S8.
I Like the Porsche. I Like the BMW. But, the biggest problem I have, is those awfully, hideously designed headlights, on the BMW. I understand BMW will be refining those headlights in the upcoming face-lift; So, wouldn't mind buying either car. Surprisingly, though, the Panamera's side- silhouette just doesn't work for me. It looks awkward: although, I love the front. Asked to choose? The Bimmer. But, only after they have re- designed those headlights. In fact, I'd prefer the BMW B7 Alpina (you get the added enjoyment of the engine's grunt).
This girl is too childish to be reviewing 90k plus demi-supercars. Next time, a grown sexy vixen will do.....Audi/Porsche always will wins everytime....BMW does nothing for me anymore.
Dan Cowan In this day and age, a 4 cylinder can go as fast as a V6....and a V6 can perform just as well V8....and so forth as so on....so it really doesn't matter if it's a 4, 6, 8, or 12 these days....It's about the engineering, weight, weight distribution, torque etc....so many factors...I'm not an expert but I believe these factors are influential. I drive a v6 but my car feels like a spaceship whenever I use premium gas....so gasoline plays a role as well...My car is a completely different animal on premium gas....literally....I believe this panamera has a automated rear spoiler that pops out to manipulate air flow around the car.....I don't know what that does exactly buy I'm sure this kind of WITCHCRAFT aids in performance.....I know know you can install a borla exhaust system to add more horse power....We're living in a era when you're cylinder count doesn'tt matter as much.....even having an AWD instead of a RWD can make a huge difference...a 4 cylinder AWD can compete with a 6 because are four wheels are receiving power...again, I'm not an expert but technology can make the impossible POSSIBLE.
Dan Cowan I already said in my original post that BMW does nothing for me....As to what BMW does, is not a concern for me becauseI'm over the BMW brand. If you're a BMW fanboy trying to start youtube comment section wars with this "BS" stuff, you're wasting your time. I also said I wasn't an expert. A lot of ppl of youtube are car "gurus" yet none of them can build a car from scratch with even 1 cylinder...You act like you work on the BMW assembly line..like you work at the BMW factory 😃...Audi/Porsche forever and nothing you say will change my mind....BS...but the letter "B" is also the first letter in BMW 😢 😃 😲
I had a 335D Touring and i've gone to a Panamera Hybrid. BMW has a slightly better gearbox - and errr...that's it. Everything else about the Porsche is in a different league. The main difference is something that hardly ever gets mentioned though - the dealerships. Porsche is so friendly, staffed by knowledgeable people that can't do enough for you, and they get a job right first time. BMW is staffed by morons who took three weeks and four attempts just to get my car to track in a straight line.
This wasn't as bad a vid as I see portrayed in the comments, remember all vids are merely the opinions of the people producing them. The concept of this particular vid is flawed. A fairer comparison would have been the M760i v. the Mercedes S65 AMG but then again the S-Class has no comparison...
Shit comparison to begin with. As she mentioned, they are two extremely different cars with two extremely different purposes. Stupid to put them against eachother as a wealthy eccentric would be looking at say an M5 or an E63 alongside the panamera. A businessman looking for a chauffeur car might look at an S63L or S8 alongside the bm.
Why did you have to compare those two at the first place? They belong to totally different classes of car-ownership. One is for the business/executive guy and the other for the young-at-heart guy who digs brand-value and sportiness at the same time. my personal fav. would be the Panamera too.
oh came on..they are in different league...if u looking for a car with sport car DNA in it ...go for Porsche...if u looking for grand tourer....go for 7 series...
Her reviews/conclusions of cars are such bullshit. She is too bias. They make ANYONE a car "reviewer" these days Anyway I still do not like the way that Porsche looks. It just not a pretty shape but they are trying their best to make it look good. The BMW while not a bad looking car the design is just standard BMW nothing special to really talk about.
Toyota4Life I was gonna say the same thing, I should of watched it in mute. Two very different cars for two very different people she says. So why review them together.
Toyota4Life Yea so true they how highlight the smallest of flaws of the Toyota’s and then with Honda they don’t even mention it unless it’s something major and always choosing Honda over Toyota.
So BMW is the better execute sedan and you picked the Porsche? I don't even know what to tell you. And it's rude not to have added the Doug score for both cars... Very very rude.
I tried to give her review a chance. I should have watched it w/o sound. She is intimidated by all the tech in the cars. She claims to be a “driver” but gets afraid in parking garages?!?
Am I the only one who thinks this is not the right BMW model to be compared to Panamera?! I think the 4-door 6 series is the one for a proper comparison with Panamera.

Useful for real people, come on. which real person drives with such a car. It is only an illustration of what is possible. Whether you need it or not you can choose when you want and can buy it. anyway, it is a show car.
