The TourX is an amazing family vehicle. Many people didn’t know they wanted one until after GM stopped making them. That’s why they should have marketed the thing.

@Eeaotc02 6 лет назад
Victor Ibarbo Yeah because wagons got a bad rep and nobody wanted to be dead set in a wagon. Same way with minivans. Now car enthusiasts or some people want something different than your neighbor's SUV/crossover.
@ramenraccoon159
@ramenraccoon159 6 лет назад
Double JJ I really don’t get that. I think wagons are more aesthetically pleasing than SUVs and crossovers and they’re also more of a enthusiast car. SUVs and crossovers are for moms who want to bring their children to their football matches and for people who can’t drive.

GM does this weird thing where they make great cars, but then never market it and then wonder why it fails. I think if they actually had the confidence to carry this car out, then it would've been really something special. This vehicle looks so much better than all the other Buicks on the road and made the brand, for a split second, seem interesting and cool

I would like to agree with you, but this is only a test by Buick. If it sells, they will make more of them. If it doesn't, it will fade away again. They did this with the Encore and it sold like hotcakes - so now Chevy has one as well with the Trax.

Maybe if Buick ran a single commercial for this in America it would sell... I just traded-in my Dodge Magnum, which I thought was the last station wagon sold in America for a Crossover... because I thought nobody made modern Station Wagons... this car will fail, not because it's a bad car or nobody wants station wagons, it will fail because nobody even knows it exists... worst marketing ever.

Only 1,000lb towing capacity is balls. Straight balls, and that's not a good thing. All I want, as a dad with two kids, is a bad ass WAGON that can tow at least 3500 lbs. I want to tow a caravan like they do in the UK, and 1000lb towing capacity ain't gonna cut it.

@joshua.harazin
@joshua.harazin 6 лет назад
The worst part is, this exact vehicle in the UK is rated to tow 3400 lbs. They cripple the limit stateside so that customers who want to tow are stuck buying more expensive SUVs and crossovers. If they tried doing that in Europe, customers would just buy a wagon from another manufacturer. Need evidence that automakers do this in the US? Go check the tow ratings for the Ford Crown Victoria from the early 90s to the mid-2000s. The car itself went through very few changes, yet the tow rating drops right around the same time the Ford Explorer came out.

I get the impression with this last Opel from Germany that GM is experimenting again to see what sells - a hatchback sedan and a wagon. They experimented a few years back with the small SUV, the Encore, and it was so successful they made a Chevy version called the Trax. If this succeeds we will be seeing the same in a Chevy in a few years. If it fails, then back to sedans and SUVs only. 0-60 mph tested is 6.9 seconds, so it is pretty fast.

My only gripe is that they'll only give the American market a Subaru Outback wannabe version, with AWD and black exterior cladding. In Europe they sell this as a straight up FWD wagon. I hope they decide to bring that version to the American market. I'd be VERY interested in buying one if they do.

I would've liked to have heard about the road noise...if there is any or not...if it's too annoyingly loud or acceptable. Also would've liked to have heard about the rear windshield wiper and squirter...maybe seen it work? Would also like to see this car at nighttime to see how well it lights up or not via the headlights, parking lights, taillights, inside dome light. Another thing missing from this review, I would've liked to have seen the sunroof shade work, like close and open it.

This is a good review, I learned a lot. Not sure why he didn’t mention that this car is really just an Opel. My understanding is that this car was made in Germany by Opel and Buick more or less just rebadged it.

Your descriptions of the Buick TourX reminds me of my 05 Volvo V70 which i had a lot of fun with and enjoyed. We also had the 2012 Outback, it was a piece of junk.

If they made a GS wagon version here, I'd consider it. The plastisized raised version isn't doing it.

Lol the music got me imagining the tour x as the Lone Wagon in the Wild West. Going toe to toe with all those crossovers.

If i get this then I would make sure it has the panoramic sun roof for sure! I do like this Tourx because its different and there is not the need to drive the big ass SUV's that are coming out now. this has the size to put everything i need plus built in wifi, Onstar, SOS, and much more and still have the size of a sedan to a certain point...right now I have a 2017 Escape...wish the Tourx came out sooner...i just have to wait or something lol

It would be cool if Mazda brought the Mazda 6 wagon over to the US, lifted with mild off road capabilities. Call it the CX-6. I think it would look really good too, but one can only dream...

I drive a 2015 Volvo XC70 T6 (real T6 not the 4 cylinder T6) and love it. It has 72 cu ft space with 2nd row seats folded down and as you said it drives like a car but has SUV space. Nice review but would have liked to see cargo area with rear seats down, the whole point of a wagon for cargo space. Does this come in a 6 cylinder or only 4? I hate 4 cylinder cars. This vehicle is nice looking, reminds me of the previous gen Audi Allroad. Interior is decent as well.

Will this be the last Wagon you get from Buick in the US? Since this model is built by the German Opel, that was sold by GM last year to PSA.

Like the two tone interior...But the darker top half is angled toward the driver (like my Optima) but the lighter colored lower portion seems tacked on....doesn't feel well integrated (like my Optima) Great review as always! Thx.

My biggest issue is the on the “attainable luxury” yet heated seats not available unless I get top of the line trim from Buick yet from Chevy I can add a simple 1200 package to a bare bones Malibu or equinox and get heated seats. Huge oversight in my eyes but still I am going to look at this wagon in April when a lease is up in my house

Actually you can fool the start/stop. Tap the brake when it comes on. Bam it goes off for the rest of the time you're in traffic. Peppy I loved it ! #1 on my list now.

A GM rep told us at our dealership to bypass the stop/start all you'd have to do is start the vehicle, pop the hood and shut it and it turns the stop/start off... why they couldn't be like FCA and just have a button who knows
