I remember when I had to do the harvest dance here in zuni. It was very tiring but my wowo was proud and it lasted all day. My brother was also in the harvest dance so he might be in here😂

Forgive a naive question from a non-native in UK: I’m watching how the stepping and drumming are so tightly coordinated and wondering whether the changes in rhythm are set for each song / dance, or is there variation each time? Beautiful to see these community gatherings where people of all ages can participate, and youngsters learning cultural traditions. Thank you for posting this video.

the turkey headdress is that part of the heritage....it looks more inca..originated...are the pueblos more inca heritage....those white shoes or mocasins say alot of your dances...the woman n the white outfits dressed in white...4 reason white shoes meaning ghost spirits...walking in the sky....the blue button up shirts....means the sky.....the sacred spirits of the animals..

Yes the Turkey headdresses are part of our pueblo culture. The white moccasins and blue buttoned up shirts don't represent the spirits or sky. It's not Inca related.

We non-native people who can buy any type of corn anytime we want will never comprehend what it means when a people have to depend on the weather and so many other factors just to plant and have enough to survive to the next season. You must pray to the Creator and the corn to keep coming back every season.
