Dodge’s 707-hp Hellcat engine suggests that it thinks about power a little differently than most of its competitors. But using that engine in a 3-row crossover might have struck even hotfoot parents, not to mention anyone worried about mileage, as a little too much. So for 2018 the Dodge Durango welcomes a new SRT trim with a 475-hp V8 as well as standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a reversing camera across the lineup. More athletic trims also get a new hood with vents.
The Durango offers three engines. A 3.6-liter V6 with 293 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque offers best-in-class towing at 6,200 pounds. The R/T gets a 5.7-liter V8 with 360 hp and 390 lb-ft that provides towing capacity of 7,400 pounds. And the SRT’s 6.4-liter V8 makes 475 hp and 470 lb-ft and offers 8,700 pounds of towing capacity, also best in class. All Durangos use an 8-speed automatic, and all trims except the SRT are available with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive; the SRT is available only with all-wheel drive.
