I bought a 2017 STX, 2.7 liter for the same reason you did. I have spent about 7 thousand in upgrades so far and probably will spend more. The STX is the best bang for the buck.

yea bouy I made that mistake on my last xlt. Put so much money in upgrades I should have just bought a Loaded xlt or lariat. Lesson learned
@MrInzombia
@MrInzombia 5 лет назад
Cory turner Because a lariat does not have the best that aftermarket upgrades offer. For example some sick looking wheels will set you back atleast 1000 bucks. Some new nittos or toyo open country aggressive tires will cost 1000. Some power running boards are nice to add thats another 1000. A sick exhaust for the 5.0 to make it sound like a monster thats another 1000. Cold air intake and tune another 1000. The lariat does not have all these things that makes a truck awesome. Some suspension and shock upgrades for a lift will also cost another grand. I would rather buy the cheaper stx and build it and customize myself than buy the lariat is 10,000 more expensive for shitty technology that i actually dont give a fk about

Would have loved the stx ....but no power seats....that sucks.... my wife couldn’t drive it the seat was really high.....which isn’t a bad thing😉 but ....we go on long trips and I like getting breaks so she needs to be able to drive it .....so my dealer hooked me up ....I bought an xtl sport ....and they put the stx wheels and grill on it for free....I was happy as hell

I bought the exact same truck last fall. Absolutely love it. I pull my 27’ travel trailer and that 2.7 eco has no issue pulling it. It just gets it!! I got a great deal. I paid $36,000 after tax. So I was happy happy happy.

I just test drove a 2.7 and was surprised on how bad the fuel mileage was for a small 6. It did get up and go very well though, very responsive little engine. I then took the 5.0 for a ride and was getting 2-3 mpg more than the 2.7. Plus the 5.0 sounds awesome and was a blast in sport mode! The STX is a sharp looking truck if you don't mind simple options. Perfect truck to work out of and get off road with!

In 2011, I bought a 2005 Lariat 5.4 supercrew 4x4 with black leather, heated seats for 15,000 cash with only 54,500 miles. These Ford trucks depreciate fast and that's why I bought used. Also, at the time and even now, I cant see myself paying these ridiculous truck prices. Inflation is pretty bad and it is only going to get worse, great video nonetheless..

My '18 stx 5.0 averages 16.7mpg. I drive all over Charlotte and do 60/40 city to highway driving. Love my truck for everything a truck should be. Drives great on the sand on the beach, mud in the hunt club, and driving on the pavement.

My 2018 F-150 2.7 actually gets very good mileage you just have to know how to hit the gas coming from a stand still although I have the rwd model in California the engine is actually very good with about 19-21 city and 23-27 highway depending on variables my only complaints are the 10 speed trans can be jerky at times and all the shifting it does. I actually like the basic interior makes it easier for everyday usability along with cloth seats and cleaning. Also it was my first new vehicle purchase with decent credit $2000 down msrp was $42k got it for $33k and lease payments of $409 with taxes can't complain.

I have a 2017 STX SuperCrew with the 2.7 EcoBoost. If I had to make the engine choice again, I would definitely go with the 2.7. My mileage does drop in the winter, mainly because of the winter blend fuels and cold morning warm ups. This is an extremely fast truck, especially in sport mode. In the summer It easily gets mileage in the high teens to low 20's

Have you driven the 5.0 yet? I just drove both trucks 2.7 and 5.0 and that 5.0 was a blast in Sport mode, plus it sounds so good. The 5.0 won me over, more HP better sound and better mpg.

You may need to buy it out or you may lose your 12K trade value plus deposit. Leasing trucks is a good idea but only if you put as little down as possible. Just my opinion of course.

So by my calculation, after 35 months of payments, plus your $12000 trade in, plus another $4000 down, you will have spent a total of $27, 550 on a truck, and will have nothing to show for it when you turn it in. Taking your total purchase price and dividing it by 35 payments means you are actually paying around $787 per month. With the amount of money down and your trade in you could have bought the truck, financed it over 48 months, and your payment would have been around $400 per month. This is why leasing is a very bad idea. All people see is the low payment per month, and in the end, the dealer ends up taking you to the cleaners. They will take the truck in after 3 years, with low miles and with the F150’s Hugh residual value, will sell it at a profit, and put you back into another lease, and start the cycle again. Basic finance 101. So for the dealer it is “the best deal ever”.
@mobeious
@mobeious 3 года назад
Wrong .. your assuming the 12,000 was straight toward the truck ... he owed 9500 on the trade which netted him $2500 worth of flow to the truck down payment then he added 1500. So he will be in the truck 15,880 after 3 years and your right with nothing to show for it. And for the love of god .. who pays sticker price?

Nice truck, I got the same package same color except the supercrew cab, 110v/400w inverter with front and rear seat outlets, 6'5" bed w/Rhino liner. Sticker was $43.9k, $4k trading in my 2004 Dodge Dakota final price was a shade under $32k and I also leased with 12k mile per year allowance which produced a $284.00 per month payment. I avg. 17.4 mph around town and found that the Auto start/stop feature has a "sweet spot" that allows the engine to stay running unless you press down firmly on the brakes.

I've had an STX and an XLT. While the STX is the best bang for your buck, I have to disagree about the painted bumpers being a "nice" feature. Stones constantly kick up on the interstate and it leaves chips and indentations, the chrome bumper shows none of it and the lady I even had back into my bumper it didnt even scratch. Other than that I do like the STX good review!

Those 2 USBs are your apple & google car play btw, dont expect to charge ur phone with those ports without disabling or overiding it unless using the Play feature ;) love my STX i put a TurboSmart BOV on it, not that cheap & ghetto plug cap. Love the giant WOOSH everytime it releases my boost pressure. Done a bunch of other stuff but i have to admit i still miss a V8 exhaust note with a Borla exhaust, so dont waste your money on that. Also, do not get the Oil/Seperator unless u have money to waste because only our 2018 motors are Port and Direct injected, so the valves will be washed and cleaned. I bought 1 anyway to try it out and in 10k miles its barely developed a few drops of oil lol. Also if you get a Rear light bar (or if u dont) plug a trailer light hitch in the back or install a bypass plug, it will disable auto start/junk on start up. (Or in tow/haul mode etc) .. but a plug in the connecter makes it think u have a trailer, but doesnt put it in tow/haul. I hated hitting that stupid button everytime i got in it lol. Take care bro enjoy. I do regret being rushed and cheap not getting the Rear locking diff.. thats about it. Dont need 4x4 in Texas but man i wa ted the Rear locker, just incase (beach, mud, etc) :(. I paid 32k after everything including 750$ 5 year windshield and tire/rim replacement package. Ive already replaced the windshield once as they are ridiculously paper thin (cheap) Fords excuse is it has to do with the sound resonance or some bs 😂 Also replaced 2 Michelin tires, over 1000$ already free of charge and im not even 1 year in. Enjoy!

Gas mileage always is less in the winter, same as summer. Trucks get crappy mileage anyway thats why I never bought one. They are extremely nice and luxurious these days and the prices reflect it. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before but the auto start only works when the wheels are straight. If the tires are straight and it’s still not working then it may be defective. I hear you when it comes the console. I do upholstery and would definitely add some foam and wrap the console in leather. My only complaint on not buying a stx is I hate the steering wheel. I need a leather one in my life. I would either buy one from a junk yard or make one if I have the time.
@coryturner9140
@coryturner9140 5 лет назад
Gilbert Luna on my last xlt 2017 I ditched the steering wheel that felt like sandpaper and got one out of a limited that was smooth leather (off of eBay). That sandpaper feel had to go! It was $300 but it made all the difference. I’m kicking myself for not taking the silver trim off of that steering wheel and putting it on my 2018 which already has leather wrapped steering wheel but black cheap looking trim. The stx is a decent deal but when you start upgrading everything you might as well go with a higher package to start with. My mileage is crappy too. I had a 2011 5.0 a 2013 5.0 and 2017 2.7 and now a 2018 2.7. They all got the same mileage. 16-18 average The sound sucks on the v6, the fuel economy isnt great like they claim, but the boost is awesome. The v8 sounds great but it’s not as peppy as the Ecoboost. I almost bought the stx 5.0 but it felt like a dog driving around town and the hard plastic arm rests like I mentioned before killed the deal. Either way the f150 is great in either package. I shopped the local dealers and they all wanted $39k for the same pickup. I drove 2 hours to Boise and saved over $3000. I used a local dealer last pickup and it was a mistake. I’m not paying $3-4K extra just to shop local when they screw up on service work and my pickup spends 2 weeks getting a rear end installed that should take a day or two and still had problems. Bigger dealers give way better deals and the service seems to be better because of the volume of vehicles they see and better trained techs in my experience.

Dealer discount was also very subpar. Just for reference, I leased a '18 $54k XLT for $360 a month, only first month at drive off. Had I found a $3k Prive Offer code that Ford was offering most of last year, would have been in the $320 range. Also, STX's are excellent value when looking straight at the sticker, but they are usually never incentivised or dealer discounted nearly as well as an XLT. The best deal in trucks the last few years, has been a XLT with the 2.7 and Navigation added (due to the way Ford offers sticker discounts with those 2 options).

Bought the same truck in black, paid 33k, had it for a month and noticed the large hump in the passenger dashboard near the windshield. Ford is aware of it, but no fix at this time. Also the dashboard has two spots which have begun to delaminate in the center near the windshield. Interior plastics are very cheap and sorry I bought it. Customer service at Ford is terrible.

Sell it. I have a 2017 2.7 with 26k. It has been the absolute worst truck I have ever owned. Breaks down with stalling problems every time I tow more than 100 miles with it. Ford won’t fix it. The Interior lights quit, it got stuck in 4hi,Clunking Rear end,hard shifting. It also had the Oil pressure sensor fail. Truck was recalled because the fire proof lining may light on fire. To sum it up it’s a POS! I have never got less than 20mpg city is the only positive so you are obviously idling yours.

Tractor Sales Guy then if I am reading your response clearly, then maybe your low mpg is maybe due to you warming up the truck before driving and your commute which is short. Plus that ecoboost is either eco or boost depending whether the turbos are running. Generally with that transmission you don’t need to have the turbos running much. By way your truck does look great and good review.

@@robertschwark8 That is a huge difference. With a decrease like that on 87 octane fuel, all the more reason to go with the V8 motor. The only thing we get ripped off on are the Raptors with up to 20 grand up mark. Then again there’s many people here also that go in and stay local because they’d rather not look around because of the headache involved and just buy local without wheeling and dealing on Price but only on the package of the vehicles.
