2018 Herring Run at Ferry Point, Pt. Richmond, CA 

It was a party-like atmosphere on the Ferry Point pier the afternoon and evening on Feb. 1, 2018. Fisherman and their families crowded the pier with their throw nets. Ice chests filled with freshly caught herring abounded. Even a wheel barrow was receiving a load of herring.
The seals were having a ball! One viewer counted 31 of them. I noticed that they weren't surfacing with fish in their mouths. I suspect that they were already full from having gorged themselves.
A man on a paddle-board was gliding among the abundant birds and seals.
