2018 Honda Accord: Full Review | Touring, Sport, EX-L, EX & LX 

Nice review (as always). I looked at and liked the 18 Accord EXL, but got a great deal on an 18 Acura TLX that was within $1k of the Accord......go figure!

You provided the most detailed information. Voice clarity and the pace at which speech was delivered are extremely good. I got all the info I needed from a single video and I really feel you for that. Charle!

The interior of the new honda design is much more nicer looking than any Acura interior. If Honda wants to continue making Acura its luxury brand, they need to really differentiate the two brands. The Honda brand is winning hands down.

I just bought this Car. Holy f....... this car is very fun to drive. I had a 6 cylinder accord coupe. I thought for sure the 6 cylinder would be the 2 litre 4 cylinder. No way. Wexcellent car

Got a chance myself to see the 2018 accord touring at my local dealership. Many have talked negative stuff about it but as always i recommend you go and see one for yourself and sit in it. Trust me. I was blown away by how nice the new interior was. Also the car itself is not as big as it might look in the video. Some think the fast back design makes it look like a whale. IMHO it gives it a really sporty look. Kinda reminds me of an Audi RS7 in terms of its shape. Go and see the car! Be your own judge. :)

You two work very well together. The pace and thorough descriptions are totally car people helpful. The size of the brake rotors on the Sport vs EX is a good example. And the different wheels is a very important detail not often found on other vids. The fact that few cars have hubcaps anymore makes it pretty obvious people like the wheels to be alloy and looking good with the overall style of the car. Great job you two!

The EX-L with 10 speed automatic 2.0 liter w/the turbo would be the one for me! I saw this car today when I went to the dealership for maintenance. It looks nicer in person, though, it does seem longer then the outgoing model. The outgoing model still looks nice!

I like the touring but the sport is probably the better value for the price

Picked up a white 2018 Honda Accord EX-L two weeks ago. Light grey leather interior, only 12.9mi over a 5yr period!! I preferred the EX-L over the Sport coming down to small features but I'm planning to update the 17in rims to 19in (rims on the EX-L are just blah to me) and tinting her out (yes, I said "her)...Lol! Loving my car 😁

As others have said "nice review" I'm typically a toyota/lexus person but think there is great potential here with the 2.0 Touring model. Will have to check to see how comfortable the drivers seat is. Thx

i really like this car in the 2.0 sport . my only concerns are the head up entertainment system sitting up on the dash like that will get a lot of sun and deteriorate quickly. I wish the would have kept the burgundy color . don't really like the new red . black is boring . im waiting to see the new blue pea . that color it looks nice in pics. im holding off my purchase of one just because of the color options..

Congratulations on your new purchase!! It’s a Honda you’re going to love it!!!! No, your phone service provider will pair with any vehicle but on this same platform, the commentator that was showing the different options of the Honda....he was doing a review of the Honda Touring model....not the LX models.....he stated in order to get the a certain service, I not sure what service it was, he showed where AT&T was the carrier Honda was using....it wasn’t to pair the vehicle....any phone carrier will pair with your vehicle....it was a specific service.....I’m not sure if the LX has that same feature as the Touring offered....if you look at the features the 9th generation offered, you’ll understand my surprise at the new 2018 all the features they did away with....I chose the Touring model because the other 4 cylinder models had that annoying ticking sound while the vehicle is started....now the new Touring model has the same ticking sound....the side camera is a great feature to have but they did away with it....the hydraulic lift hood, they did away with that on the 2018 Touring models.....I’ve never had the 9th generation LX but they all came with the side cameras.

Hi, great review! One of the only ones that compares all the trims in a specific and non-lenghty manner. Just one question about the transmission: You mentioned that you only get the electronic shifter in the 2.0T. But you're sitting in a Touring, and to my knowledge, all of them come with a 2.0T. But you have a standard shifter in the car. Could you please clear my confusion? :)

does leaving the parking break on drains the battery?

I believe there are some downside feathers of the 2018 Accord that our tour guide neglected to mention. To name just a few, the guide didn't mention that the alloy wheels stick out further than the tires so when you're parallel parking and you get too close to the curb, instead of brushing the tires you damage the expensive alloy wheels. That's only the beginning. Whenever you go in for service, they'll want to rotate your tires for free. Of course! That will put another wheel in position to be damaged while parking. They’re not so dumb. Alloy wheels are around $200+ each. This one is for men. With a suit or sports jacket on, try to connect your seat belt. The connector is down between the seat and the center counsel so it’s very hard to do, bad design. Be careful doing straight in perpendicular parking. Chances are very good that you will scrape the bottom of your car before the front wheels touch the curb. And by all means don't bump into anything more rigid than a beach ball. The whole front end is plastic. Are you surprised that the guide didn't mention any of this? I'm not. One more thing, and if you don’t laugh you have no sense of humor. Did you notice the speedometer? It goes to 160 mph. The car’s motor is red-lined at around 100 mph. I think it has to do with Toyota’s speedometer that only goes to 140 mph. I wonder if the designers figured the Honda owner will get more girls with a higher number on the speedometer. You should ask. Thanks, for the tour.

I'd like to know why the Sport and Touring trims (with the 1.5L) have lower mpg than the others. The only difference I can see are the 19" wheels. Would those cause the vehicle to go from 30/38 to 29/35? I've never seen that on any other cars.

Great review. One thing that might help with the backseat is how tall is Mason? This make you have a better idea of the backseat legroom because I’m interested in buying a sedan but at times I like to sit in the backseat I’d like to know because I am 6 foot four. Thank you

i couldn't help but notice and this is a suggestion for improvement. Have you ever shot a video under a shade on a very clear sunny day? Or at least in an environment with deflected lighting? That way you don't get highly contrasted shadows like at 11:36 where the shadow of the camera and the noise suppressor can easily bee seen in the video. And I can't see what's being shown in the video (i.e., the door details) clearly. Just a suggestion.....

The Camry is gorgeous but the Accord has more of what I want... but I know from experience how reliable Toyota is. I'm torn.

Its confusing as to why they used the Civic as inspiration for the rear. You'd think they'd wanna make it its own unique design...

Not for me but good review. I find it funny that the grille setup is similar to some trims on the Dodge Charger. What I mean is the full connecting grille and the dark area around the headlamps.

I’ve always owned a Honda, I have a 2017 Accord Touring V6, Sedan with only 7650 miles, purchased in November of 2016....and a 2012 Accord ExL V6 Coupe 70162 miles.....I considered trading my Touring for the 2018 Accord....but it looks horrible!!! It reminds me of the Civic.....if I wanted a Civic, I would have purchased one.....I’m so disappointed with Honda...and the rims are horrible looking!!! I had to think long about this because I’m truly a Honda Chic...and decided to go with the 2018 Camry XSE....I hate to have to put down the Honda, but these 2018 Accords are awful....they got rid of the hydraulic hood latches, lane watch camera, super sporty rims, and the CD player....although I know most don’t use CD’s, but it would have been nice to have that option..,.and to have Bluetooth both you have to subscribe to AT&T....is crazy when I should have an option to use my carrier......I’m so impressed with the Camry the panoramic sunroof, Birdseye view, great body, beautiful rims, sexy interior.....what more can I say except....bye bye to my 2017 Honda Accord Touring!!!

Great review as always! You're definitely one of my favourites out there. Unfortunately this is such an ugly car, that rear end is horrible and looks like an afterthought. The front is okay... But is large and bloated. The interior looks pretty good, too and they got rid of the 2 screens and have that cheap looking tablet. The nfc symbol on the trim is terrible... The digital gauges are decent, though I hate digital gauges. It's too bad the safety system is starting card as safety nannies are increasingly causing accidents.

if it looks like a civic, has the same drive train as a civic, hmm, I think it's a civic. Why would anybody shell out the kind of dollars they're asking for this car when it quacks like a civic.

Honda did not do a good job on this car I alwready had to replace a cvt transmission on one at work also the rear what was Honda thinking wen they did that ugly you are better off with the 2016 ipurchased a new Mazda 3 way more luxurious in the inside not as much room but I get more people breaking heads while I’m in my Mazda then my Honda that’s forsure

@8:23 "(stereo) sound quality is pretty good for the class" No, it is not. Honda dropped the ball or chose to save $$ by including a BS stereo system. I own a 2003 Nissan Sentra and a 2020 Accord Sport 2.0. The stock stereo in the old Sentra is much better than what comes with any of the Accords. This is subjective. If you go strictly by volume, then the Accord's stereo gets louder (not by much). But you get louder junk. Like having a choice between a 50" super sharp TV and a 103" blurry TV. Give me the sharp one. Consider having a choice between a normal sized portion of a meal prepared by a top chef, vs a huge meal prepared by McDonalds. The McDonalds meal is larger (gets louder, so to speak). But give me the meal prepared by the top chef, and I will forego the extra sub-par servings from McDonalds. The old Sentra's stereo is not quite "top chef" caliber. But it is closer to "top chef" and the Accord's stereo is closer to "McDonalds". What makes the old Sentra's stereo so enjoyable, so engaging, so non-fatiguing, is that it gets out of the way of the music. It presents a wall of music, and separation of singers and separation of instruments. You forget that you are listening to a mechanical device, and, instead, you are treated to a musical presentation. One way to identify a quality stereo system is to close your eyes and have your ears identify the location of the speakers. In the old Sentra, you can't do that. The speakers disappear, because they throw a soundstage. In the Accord, you never forget that you are listening to a car stereo. The speakers do not "disappear". In the old Sentra, I have gone on long drives, and have played music for 2+ hours, and enjoyed every minute of it. I never get the urge to turn it off. Not so in the Accord. In the Accord, after several minutes, the music becomes distracting and borderline annoying. I find myself constantly skipping to different songs (because too many songs just do not sound right). By the way, when I was shopping for the 2020 Accord, I was considering the Nissan Altima (did not relize that Renault now makes them unreliably) and also considering the Toyota Camry. Both the Altima and the Camry's stereos sound similar to the Accord's stereo. None of them are very good. They are so-so. And you cannot upgrade the stereo via Honda. They offer no premium stereo (even if they call theirs premium, it is not -- it is just a less bad stereo with then labeling it as premium). And you cannot upgrade the stereo after-market, without voiding the entire car's warranty. The reason the warranty will be voided is because the stereo is wired in to the touch screen display, and the touch screen display is wired in to stuff all over the car -- stuff that is unrelated to the stereo. So Honda's position is that if you tinker with the touch screen, you essentially tinkered with the proper functioning of the vehicle, and kiss your warranty goodbye. You can probably upgrade (after market) the Pioneer speakers that come with the Accord (they are not good speaker -- nothing Pioneer makes is very good), and maintain your warranty. But you cannot upgrade the Panasonic head unit that is entangled into the touch screen display -- and Panasonic is not terribly good, either. Cheers!
