Now that we've looked at the Mazda6 and the new Camry, it's time to point the camera at the 2018 Honda Accord with the new 2-liter turbo motor and advanced safety tech.

I bought my '20 Accord Touring 2.0T almost a year and a half ago and I could not be more pleased! This car is awesome and so much fun to drive. The engine is potent and pulls hard. The ride is great. The handling is superb. I am smitten! Drove nothing but V6 Honda/Acura products since 2002 and was very skeptical about going back to a 4 cylinder but all of my concerns have been erased. I love my Accord Touring and would highly recommend it to anyone considering it.

After owning my Accord 2L Touring for a year now I can pretty much agree with the review. Cons: transmission shifts too much from the start ,it's inconvenient not to be able to open the back doors hands free, must either open the front doors with touch or use the remote and the ride IS a bit noisy. Only 3 cons is pretty good. The safety features as well as the occasional hands free driving are great. Safety has already saved me from a couple of potential bad incidents, and, on long drives, I"ve gone as much as 5-6 miles without any personal control of the vehicle and it's worked great. Heads up display is a big plus. My last 5 vehicles were Lexus ES which I was getting tired of so I tried the Accord. No, it's not a Lexus but I've been very happy with the Accord as a change of pace.

Thanks so much for your opinion. I am trying to decide between a 2017 Lexus RX350 or this..and because active safety features are so important to me due to reckless drivers all around me..I think this vehicle is right for me. I just hope it has a soft enough ride as the roads in my area are terrible and I have a bad back. I heard the seats are very soft and cushioned so that should help my back too.

This is coming from a VERY happy 2018 2.0t ex-l owner. This car is absolutely hands down amazing. The speed is incredible and I easily chose it over an eco boost mustang premium and Camry xse. Interior and exterior are fantastic. The front grill does look a little chinsy but only in certain lights. The old accord is conservative and boring af. I am SO glad they did something bold and remade a very old conservative car into a sporty fun luxurious master piece. In the city on the highway doesn’t matter hit the sport button and let the 10 speed auto do the rest.IT EVEN HAS MORE TECH THAN AN AUDI A4 AND IS FASTER. people will always be resistant to change at first but once they wake up and realize accord has to be rebranded to compete with what the Korean carmakers are doing these days they will see it for the master piece that it is!! Love this car !!!

@JulioCNY 3 года назад
@@MsDejavue oh wow🙈 that's no bueno. But thanks for the info and details about it. I guess the older model is much better and last longer than the new ones of 2018 and 2021 Honda Accord. I guess a 2016 Honda Accord and older model like a 2012 Honda Accord is much more better and a little more better in Reliability and a good looking car, especially with the V6 Engine and also will last longer than the new models.
@MsDejavue
@MsDejavue 3 года назад
@@JulioCNY I test drive both of them already. I prefer the 2.0 because it feels way faster then the v6 is350, Camry v6 xse, and even the v6 Accord touring. But overall you'll sacrifice longetivity over performance. And I also like the way the new Accord looks lol. @10:00 "0 MPH to 60 MPH test" -- Traction Control should have been turned off (it is on by default). -- The camera should have been on the road for that acceleration test -- not on your face. @10:44 "All Sport mode really does is it re-maps the throttle and also tightens up those adaptive shocks." Sport mode holds lower gears longer, to make the throttle more responsive. Sport mode increases the turbo boost, for better acceleration. "It doesn't give you more horsepower." That is true, but needs clarification. Sport mode allows the car to use 100% of its power (without getting into aftermarket HonData modifications). It allows the car to use 100% of the power that the car comes with from the factory. The other modes reduce performance, in favor of better fuel economy (and softer ride). So although Sport mode does not give you more power (than what the car comes with), it does give you more power than the other two modes, because the other two mode reduce power (both via turbo boost and transmission shift points). If you drive the car in either Econ or the default mode for a while, and then shift to Sport mode, you will feel the car wake up. Perhaps more noticeable is if you drive in Sport mode for a while, and then switch to one of the other modes, you will feel the car ease up. "...not much of a difference between Econ and Sport, in terms of 0 MPH to 60 MPH times" Sport mode holds lower gears longer, and increases the turbo boost. @12:35 "This one has Lane Detection" It works only when driving between 45 MPH and 90 MPH. It will make only minor adjustments. If you start to cross the line on a turn, you are going to cross the line. The Lane Detection system will not make more than minor adjustments. Note mentioned in this review is that those 19" wheels, with their low profile tires (meaning less sidewall), in combination with the way Honda tuned the suspension, results in a sedan that really grips the road during hard turns. Those tires will stay planted much better than most people think, and will hold sharp turns at speeds most people would never try. It is not like a mid-engine Corvette. But it is very, very good (but do not drive like a nut -- even a million dollar Ferrari will lose control if pushed too hard). Lastly, the brakes are very, very good. They are silky smooth, and slow the car down with ease. They will probably save many people from accidents, when they had to stop short. The Accord (Sport and Touring) is a great car. It is a blast to drive, and it is comfortable. The stereo, however, is so-so. The other Accord styles are probably also very good. I have not driven them. For performance, the 19" wheels (available only on the Sport and Touring) is a must. Cheers!

Decent review, but he did say some things which weren't totally accurate. He said the mpg has increased with the Turbo and that's not true. For example, they rated the V-6 at 34 mph hwy. I was hoping he would comment on the transmission. I have a 2018 Toyota Camry XLE V-6 and I really like it overall, but after a year I still get frustrated with the transmission having some real flat spots. I went from a 2015 Camry V-6 with a very smooth 6-speed to the 10 speed, which the Accord has also. I guess I will have to find out for myself to know for sure. My guess is that the Accord shifts more smoothly than the Camry. As the weather warms up I'll have to go to a dealer and take one for a ride. Now that my Camry is over a year old, they won't tell me to get lost and think I am just wasting their time. When I went to the Honda Dealer about a year and a half ago, the redesigned 2018 Accords weren't coming out for some months so I bought the Camry.

Tried the Honda. Tried the Toyota. Bought a Ford Fusion 2.0l Titanium awd. Interior quality is just as good. Exterior styling is much better. Electronics are equal. Zero to 60, the same.But the Fusion outdid them all in ride comfort, noise abatement and handling. An enjoyable car to drive each day.

Very clear picture on the video. I've had 3 Accords in a row in the UK and wld love this one but I don't think they're going to bring it here. I don't like SUV's so I'm left with the Civic with its interior infotainment system and dodgy looks. Think I'm going to go Mazda 6 when it's time to change.

*Thoughts on 2018 Honda Accord (Design):* Let me start off by saying that there are several elements where I think the designers did a pretty good job at. First and foremost, the interior design looks nice as a simple yet pretty functional layout. A little bland on minor occasions, but still nice as it is. Additionally, I can't deny that the work they've done with most of the materials and fit-and-finish is quite rewarding. Coming out with simple creative ideas that all-in-all gives it a modern vibe to it. ..but then, there comes the new Accord's elephant in the room.... the exterior proportions, and the whole exterior design.... ...ohhh my-..... ahh god, my.... dude... I-... I think JonTron said it best here: ["Oh.... OH, a-are you serious? Is that something where someone who calls himself a professional artist/designer actually made and handed to their boss and the boss went: "Yeah that looks good, do that."......?????"] My lord, where the hell do I even begin with this? Well, I guess I can start off with the exterior design, as the whole exterior looks like it was entirely done by a brain-damaged chimpanzee! In any other exterior vehicle design, an actual vehicle designer who has the credibility to do his job, would create something that looks pretty realistic, yet also artistic at the same time. Making something that looks believable, well-proportioned, elegant, but also something that belongs in its own world, without looking too plain-jane, which was in fact something where the previous-generation Accord already did so well at. Several sedans I can think of right now with a fastback design like the all-new Toyota Avalon and Volkswagen Arteon accomplished that really well. THIS however, looks like something they want to make in order to get fired from their job! I can assure you that NO professional designer would ever look at this, and think that this is even in the slightest bit acceptable! Let alone for a sedan with a fastback bodystyle! Even you, the person who is listening to this right now, can create a design that looks much more professional than this mess! And if the exterior design wasn't enough, its exterior proportions are the ultimate piles of salt to an open wound. It tries WAY TOO hard to look so sleek, so dynamic, so elegant, so edgy, and so dramatic, and so tasteful, just to get the audience's reactions that it crosses the line, and it's not at all funny anymore! It's, simply put, just sad, desperate, disgusting, and it's only appealing to those in the lowest common denominator. You can tell when a design looks so horrific, that you have to not even give it a tiny glimpse or peek in order to look at it. Seriously, this is something I expect to see from Pontiac as a sedan version to the Aztek! Not a large and rich automotive industry like Honda! EVEN Toyota with the latest Prius, and Nissan with the latest Maxima, both did a better job than this! Like I said, there are a few good things about the new Accord's design, such as the interior... but what they did to the exterior is why I think the designers should seriously consider an immediate career change. *Overall Design Score:* 3/10

Nice video, kudos to Honda for what looks like one of the top midsize sedans on the market today! As a 2015 V6 Accord owner, I would've liked Honda to keep the V6 as an option -- although I understand the fuel economy purpose. But the V6 option with a 6spd manuel would've been awesome! The ergonomics are terrible on the Camry dude. Plus I can get a hondata state 2 tune and boost that Accord up to 310 horsepower 377 foot pounds of torque take that b**** Camry! I recently traded my 2014 Honda Accord V6 for a Hyundai Sonata Sport 2.0 Turbo. The Hyundai is head and shoulders above the Honda. I looked at the turbo Accord and decided not to buy, this after buying a new Accord V6 four times before. The Accord Turbo 2.0T is grossly overpriced, in order to get the turbo you have to buy a "larded up" version that runs about 35K - 36K with lots of "stuff" I don't need, chief among them is the sunroof that I would open on my other cars once a year to make sure it is still working and the leather interior that is not of great quality sticky in summer and stiff in winter. The Hyundai has a sunroof but no leather. The audio system is very good and the car is quieter than any Accord I have ever owned. In sport mode the car flies down the road with 245 hp and 260 ft lbs. of torque coming in at 1400 RPM and handles superbly. The Hyundai has a 100K miles warranty on the drivetrain, including the turbo, compared with 60K miles for the Honda. The Hyundai stickered at $28,900 and I got it for $ 22,260 + TT&L. I looked at the Toyota and it was more expensive than the Honda and larded up still more "stuff" that I didn't want on the car like the sunroof that stretches virtually the full length of the car. It is my understanding that Hyundai is discontinuing the Sonata Sport turbo in favor of only building a more "larded up" version like the Honda and Toyota. I am very happy with the Hyundai and would recommend it without hesitation.

I wasn’t a fan of the front grill and no V6 but I love the car now! It’s fast as hell with no turbo lag because of the variable turbo valve. The 10 speed automatic is quick and smooth as hell too!
